TraitBuddy is an addon that tries to help you easily manage and keep track of what crafting research traits all your characters know. Great for those alt'o'holics out there just like myself.

I have expanded many game tooltips so that the information you want to see is right there on the item where you need it. There is also a custom screen if you prefer to see all the research in one place.

In case you are unsure what an alt is, it is a term to describe another/alternative character.

This addon is for Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworker and Jewellery traits as the other professions don't have traits you can research.

The latest version of addon library LibAddonMenu is required and will need to be installed separately.

Features

Expanded in-game tooltips:
Bag, loot, mail, buyback, trade, guild store search, guild store listings, links placed in chat, quest rewards, crafting, equipped items, and motifs
See the traits your character and your alts know
See the traits your character and your alts are researching
Automatically knows when your research has finished. You don't need to log on to your alts for it to update.
See the motifs your character and your alts know
Research overview screen
Compact movable window
Allows you to view any of your alts by simply picking them from a dropdown or using an icon bar
The screen you see will be just as if you had logged on to that alt
You choose which alts are included/compared
Customisable icon and text colours
Translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Russian
Supports gamepad mode
Ability to filter motifs, unknown, almost completed etc
List of all crafted sets with details of their bonuses and locations
Support for other addons such as Inventory Grid View and Inventory Insight
Icons in inventory

What do the icons mean?
Green Tick
The selected character has researched that trait.

Orange Tick
At least one or more of your characters has completed researching that trait.
But not the currently selected character.

Blue Hourglass
The selected character is researching that trait.

Orange Hourglass
No characters have completed researching that trait but one or more of your characters have started to learn it.

The colours can be customised from the options.

How to set it up

Log in to each character one by one so TraitBuddy can automatically work its magic
Check out the tooltips on items with traits and motifs

There are 3 ways to open the TraitBuddy window

Bind a key
Use the buttons added to the corners of the crafting stations, skill screen and guild store
Use the chat commands /traitbuddy and /traitbuddyoptions

Use any combination you prefer.
Binding a key is done from the normal ESO options screen

Bring up the ESO Options > Controls > Keybindings and scroll down until you see "TraitBuddy Addon"
Choose a key you would like to use to show and hide the window
Personally I bind the ] key

Info for other Addon makers
Detect when mousing over a trait in TraitBuddy
In your onLoad function

Weolo Forum posts: 79 File comments: 563 Uploads: 4	Sorry Keluna, I can not see those images hosted on directupload.net My internet provider SKY classes that site as "Anonymizers, Filesharing and Hacking" is there somewhere else you can put the images? It might help to know that I have tested TraitBuddy today in German and it showed and ran as expected. I can only suggest it may not have been patched/installed incorrectly. If you use Minion to install/patch then I suggest right clicking TraitBuddy and doing a repair/re-install. There should be no issue with the SavedVariables so you can keep that and your previous settings. Last edited by Weolo : 09/07/17 at 10:09 AM.

And also a screenshot of the top of the TraitBuddy settings screen.
Do you see any error messages at all, anywhere?

Looks like I've had both addons installed for a while, and never noticed the option to turn on inventory insight integration, a big thank you for the heads-up! Works great within the inventory-based tooltips, but the tooltip does not incorporate inventory insight info when I mouse on a trait within trait buddy itself. Could this feature be expanded to cover the internal tooltips too? That's where I'd be most interested in seeing the data, as it would tell me when I sit down to craft (with trait buddy open) how many I have and how many I need to craft for all toons that need it. Weolo Forum posts: 79 File comments: 563 Uploads: 4	Hi [Daniel] A bank, guild bank and alts bags tracking system has been asked for a few times but I will not be adding it to TraitBuddy. But as you have seen what I have done is go half way and added support for other addons which should provide the features you are looking for. Try installing Inventory Insight and see if the features I have added to TraitBuddy give you what you need. Once that is installed you will see an extra couple of lines as part of the normal TraitBuddy tooltips. Inventory Insight has lots of options you can tweak to get it to work the way you want. If I remember when I was using it I turned off/hid a lot of the extra screens that addon popped up. Last edited by Weolo : 09/06/17 at 11:13 AM.

I'd also like to suggest an enhancement/expansion to the trait screens. Is it possible to have the known/researchable/researching notifications (in grid and on tooltip) to grow an option to tell you how many you have in the bank/inv? This way, researchable could become (a) Researchable without item to learn, and (b) Researchable with item to learn. I've caught myself a few times crafting duplicates for my alt crafters to learn... a heads up that I already had some crafted would have been awesome. Not a problem I assume for folks with only one crafter... but can be a challenge for altaholics like me Thank You! EDIT: just noticed this is semi-related to Kogpaw's post. In this version I have made my first attempt at adding in crafted sets. Set name, number of traits required, bonuses and zones where you can craft them. I have also fixed the support for the InventoryInsight addon.

I use this addon in conjunction with Inventory Insight to get the little icons at the bottom of the item tooltips. Since the HotR patch, the icons are very inconsistent displaying stuff like this: https://puu.sh/xgNyy/4ca047f641.png https://puu.sh/xgNBb/23b890f7e7.png Even though the item is in my bank or inventory, sometimes I get 0 next to all the inventory icons. I tried reinstalling both addons, also clearing all the saved variables and starting from scratch. Didn't help. Thanks and keep up the good work

I'm not sure what made it stop working, but when I downloaded an updated version of the file, my mac affixed a "-2" to the end of the folder name to differentiate it from the original trait buddy folder. When I deleted the original and inserted the new one, the -2 affix was preventing it from running properly.

I'm not sure what made it stop working, but when I downloaded an updated version of the file, my mac affixed a "-2" to the end of the folder name to differentiate it from the original trait buddy folder. When I deleted the original and inserted the new one, the -2 affix was preventing it from running properly.
