Foundry Tactical Combat (FTC)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.72
by: Atropos [More]
Foundry Tactical Combat is a user interface enhancement for The Elder Scrolls Online designed to give players access to relevant combat data in an easy to process framework which allows them to respond quickly and effectively to evolving combat situations. The multiple components of the FTC addon are designed to restore certain information to the game interface which many gamers may feel is missing from the default minimalistic UI.

The addon is still in active development by Atropos, and will hopefully continue to evolve and improve during the coming weeks and months. If you are a fan of the addon, keep an eye on the main addon page on Tamriel Foundry to ensure you always have the latest version.

FTC Components

Foundry Tactical Combat has six primary components which are each optionally configurable. All UI elements added by FTC can be disabled or repositioned to suit your preferences. Additionally, Foundry Tactical Combat is fully localized for French and German client versions!

Unit Frames – FTC Unit Frames refers to the display of attribute bars and other information pertaining to yourself, your target, and your group members. The FTC frames are designed to be lightweight and informative. The frames show numerical values for your resources and damage shielding, as well as visual indicators for active HoT and DoT effects, your target’s exceute threshold, and more. The unit frames can have a rich set of aesthetic customization options allowing you to achieve the exact look that fits your UI style.

Active Buff Tracking – The Buff Tracking component of FTC displays a configurable list of icons representing the known buff and debuff effects that are currently affecting your character. The ESO addon API does not provide this information for buffs with durations shorter than 30 seconds, but FTC uses an intelligent combination of detection mechanisms to carefully approximate your inventory of active effects. This knowledge can help you make more informed combat decisions, improve your resource management, and optimize your ability rotation.

Combat Log – Foundry Tactical Combat incorporates a text-based combat log which records a history of combat events so that you can review the details of recent encounters. The combat log by default alternates visibility with the ESO chat tab, but can be detached and positioned wherever you desire on-screen. An optional keybinding can be used to quickly toggle the visibility of the combat log.

Scrolling Combat Text – The FTC Scrolling Combat Text component enables real-time display of damage and healing values as they occur in combat as well as a helpful Combat Alerts component that warns your character immediately when significant combat events occur. FTC’s combat text displays the name and icon (when possible) for known sources of damage as well as useful indicators for damage avoidance through shielding, blocking, or dodging. The display style and format of scrolling combat text events can be customized in the settings menu.

Damage Statistics – The Damage Statistics component adds analytical tools to help you examine and improve your combat performance. While in-combat a small DPS meter tracks the length of your current encounter, your cumulative damage-per-second, and your cumulative healing-per-second throughout the fight. After combat has concluded, you can open a full Damage Report which details the composition of your damage and healing by target. These statitics can be linked to your party members in chat using a configurable keybinding or by clicking on the chat icons in the damage report.

Advanced Hotbar – The Advanced Hotbar component improves the default ESO action bar by adding some additional information that is useful in combat. Your current Ultimate pool and your percentage towards the next Ultimate activation is displayed as well as a visual glow indicator behind the ultimate itself which indicates that you are currently generating additional Ultimate in combat. The Advanced Hotbar component also adds an explicit potion cooldown timer so you can know exactly when you will be able to use your next consumable item.

Installation Instructions
To install Foundry Tactical Combat follow these steps. FTC is also supported by Minion, an automated ESO addon management utility.

1) Download FTC_Current.zip to a location of your choosing.
2) Extract the .zip archive into your ESO addons folder found in My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons/ for Windows users, or Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons. for OS X.
3) You should now have a folder inside Addons named “FoundryTacticalCombat” which contains the addon files.
4) Launch The Elder Scrolls Online. FTC should be automatically enabled. If not, go to the Add-Ons section of the game menu and make sure that the box beside Foundry Tactical Combat is checked.
5) Access the FTC configuration settings by navigating in-game to Settings -> Add-Ons -> FTC, or by simply typing “/ftc” into chat.

Haaa there I gave up to soon, obviously just because of bad memories
I had with my installed version .38
.38 does not have accountwide settings
And I didn't find anything in the changelog
(obviously meaning I didn't read it exactly)

Brilliant

Code:
EVENT_MANAGER:RegisterForEvent( "FTC" , EVENT_MAP_PING, FTC.OnPing )
PingMap( MAP_PIN_TYPE_PING , MAP_TYPE_LOCATION_CENTERED , timeCoord , dpsCoord )
FTC.Stats:AddPing( offsetX, offsetY , pingTag , isOwner )
Hahah, you're a star.

Was wondering how you manage to do the group dps, lol

I just reinstalled .38 as there is no fun in customizing 8 chars anew
and and its even more disencourageing if you want to deactivate 3 features of FCT
and FCT has to reload 3 times per char.
Um...
Code:

  • Change the default setting for sharing group DPS to disabled. Your saved variable setting for this will be forced to "off" when you update. If you want to use this feature you must go back into settings and re-enable it.
  • Add additional checks to DPS sharing to filter out bad data. Damage will no longer be shared for fights shorter than 10 seconds.
Thank you yet again for keeping up this great add on.
I have used it from the start and still love it.
My only wish is to change the Font color for either the target names or the player names (including on the raid bar) These old Eyes have trouble seeing the white.
That said, I will continue to use this and support you and your endeavors. Thank you.

This doesn't hold any value to your users, what few people that actually want to know what changed will go look that up. This popup is an inconvenience, and while its just one window and all you need to do is push "." and click the X. I shouldn't have to do that, and what if others start this annoying behavior. The first time you had the window made complete sense, but now your changes are not so drastic that it justifies it every single time it updates. Sorry for the rant.
Hey Starr, sorry if I did not reply to your feedback directly before. Regarding your two feature requests:

1) If I go down this route, I would need to add on/off toggles for every type of alert that the addon might generate. This may be the best thing to do, but in the interest of avoiding proliferation of configuration options I am simply having the SCT alerts component be a bulk on/off for now. I'll be thinking about whether this is the right way to go, but I believe there is a cost associated with adding configuration options so I want to be frugal with my choices.

2) Having spoken to a large number of people it seemed that there were very few (no) individuals who actually found the incoming DPS statistic to be actionable in combat. I could certainly consider bringing it back, but I do want to keep the fight time, so it would force the mini-meter to adopt a 4 column layout which would make it a bit more obtrusive. Maybe having an option about which statistics to report on-screen is the right way to go.

Regarding the welcome announcement: I will think about this, and if many people complain I may remove it. I like having it, though, as it reduces the number of questions from people about whether certain bugs were fixed. It also allows me to collect better feedback from addon users since they know what changed in the new version and know what to look out for.

Another reason I view it as important is there are many users who may currently be using a different addon for a certain feature like buff tracking, or SCT. I want to remind FTC users that those components are improving and encourage them to experiment with the FTC options rather than just sticking with their current setup by default.

I'm sorry that FTC updates cost you a second of your time in closing the message, but considering the number of hours I spend working on the addon I feel justified imposing that cost on my users.

Just thought there would be value in giving this update...

As of the latest patch, FTC has been stable as hell for me. Sure there are user experience (visual) related changes I reeealllly got used to prior to this change, but I'm dealing with it ;7

I've heard of some ditching it since the update. I suspect this is more lack of info vs. an issue, but don't know for certain.

I've been running side-by-side raid frames for both ggFrames and FTC. Not comparing exact values (silly), but comparing base functionality and stability. The coloring of roles is nice and has some value in PvP. The slim and clean look of ggFrames are still unsurpassed (but am dealing with it). Only functionality that I see ggFrames has that FTC does not is indication of when players are stealthed. This has value in PvP but nice to have vs. required for sure.

Once we get some flexibility to change the line around the icons, font sizes for scrolling information like Experience (which gets bunched up and overlaps), player frames etc... This will go back to being my #1 adddon for combat.

FWIW, I personally like it simply because of how it's coded/designed vs. the others. Certainly my nerdery coming through on this.

Thanks again Atropos

Hey Lunarion, regarding buff/debuff customization. I'm going to think about continued ways to make these more flexible, but I likely will not be able to support every possible configuration that users may want. That being said, making the buff timers easier to process visually is obviously a priority so if I can figure out better ways to do that I will likely adopt them.

The party frame desync/lag was a result of an attempt to improve unit frame performance while in large groups. It obviously has some issues associated with it that will be resolved in the next patch which I hope to release later today.

Yeah, that's absolutely bad behavior of the report, and it's something I'm aware of. Ultimately the report will have a scroll-bar allowing you to browse as many targets as are present in the encounter. When I was developing the report for version 0.60 I had trouble getting a scroll window to work correctly so I just truncated the display for the short term.

I will be definitely trying to improve this for a future version.
