AutoInvite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.5.0
by: Sasky, Ayantir, silentgecko
Overview

Simple auto-invite addon - intended for use in Cyrodiil to quickly setup a group invite string without diving into menus. Since expanded to be a part of the group tab, but original slash commands still exist for quickly turning on and off.

Features
  • Slash commands to quickly enable or disable inviting, and regrouping
  • Stop sending invites when reach group limit
  • Change the group limit (when to stop invites)
  • Options panel as separate tab in group menu
  • Settings (except for actually running) are saved between loads
  • Option to only invite players in Cyrodiil (for guild invites)
  • Option to restart invite after someone leaves group
  • Option to auto-kick members after set amount of time offline
  • Button to re-form the group
  • Keybindings to reinvite or regroup the group

Localization
Translations have been provided by the following people
  • French - Provision
  • German - silentgecko
  • Japanese - Lionas
  • Russian - ForgottenLight

Usage
Open the group menu and there is a tab (far right) for AutoInvite settings. Set the invite string and any other settings then check enable. Now anyone who types that message (exactly) in chat will have an invite sent.

Alternatively you can use the slash commands to quickly start/stop and for when you want to start/stop without opening any menus.

Known Issues/Limitations
  • The regroup function doesn't work well through group leader bug.
  • Queue display is not in-order for position in queue.
  • No right click on the mini-group (for kick, travel to, etc).
  • Sometimes the mini-group list on the AutoInvite tab doesn't update properly. There is a button included to force an update if that's the case.

Slash commands
These are for very quick access or for debugging purposes.
  • /ai - Turn off AutoInvite. Emergency stop button of sorts
  • /ai foo - Set string to 'foo' and start inviting
  • /aidebug - Turn on debug logging to chat window. Note: this can be rather verbose.

Example
You're a raid leader and have some spots to fill.
  1. Type /ai xx in chat message to start listening for 'xx' message in chat
  2. Advertise yourself in chat ("Type xx for Bleakers raid group")
  3. Sit back and let the addon manage sending invites

Turning it off in the options panel should let the addon behave as before.

Can you provide more details on what's wrong?
A) Was the auto-kick option enabled? If so, what was the limit set to?
B) Were those 3 players offline (and still in group)?
C) Any other conditions for it happening (all the time, occasionally, under certain conditions)?

This evening (PDT), I'll tone down the debug logging and put in a configuration dump slash command for a 1.3.1 version if I can't figure out the cause by then.

Order of events:

-kicked 3 players
-activated auto kick (set to 5)
-my chat box is still being spammed with those 3 players after activating, it is now up to 3500

1.3.1 is up.

Cause of error:
The addon maintains a listing of offline people and when they went offline in order to know who to kick when. Those 3 weren't properly removed from that list when they were kicked, so it kept trying to kick them. Sine they weren't in the group, it'd fail to kick them and never remove them from the offline list.

Things that should help:
A) The debug messages are off by default. (/aidebug turns them back on)

B) Better management of the to-kick list so that someone is removed from the list when trying to kick.

More strings?

How do you add addition invite strings for the mod to look for?

Currently it's only setup for a single string invite. What is your situation for multiple strings?

Part of why I didn't go the route for multiple strings is I really can't envision a good use case for multiple strings. I instead went the route where you can quickly change the single invite string.

guild specific listening?

is there any way to get this to only invite those posting the 'string' in guild chat (specific guild), so i only pick up guildies and not pugs?

If there's enough interest, I could add this as I do have screen real estate for options. That said, it's rather low priority since you can effectively do it now.

1) Pick a string that's not going to be commonly types in zone chat (like 'sweetrolls').
2) Only advertise the string in guild chat
3) Have your members just type in guild chat for invite.

One of the guilds I'm in runs bi-weekly PvP events and does this (not that anyone in the guild really cares that much if pugs join, just that it's easier to tell guild members in guild chat.) I can't think of a single time someone not in guild has typed that and gotten in group, even if someone in-guild accidentally types the string in zone chat.

As such, I see coding it in as an explicit option as something with very low return.

Can you provide more details?
- Did you have a group when starting to listen?
- Did you enable it through the UI tab or the command line?
- Was there anything unusual about the invite string?
- What options did you have set?

I have heard of a few isolated incidents where it stopped working, but haven't been able to reproduce. The majority of time it stops working is due to the group leader bug, where after 1-2 people are invited you lose group lead. Unfortunately, that's an in-game issue, so I can't do anything there.

I did not have a group when I started the first few times. In Cyrodiil I did already have a group. So having at least one person makes it more likely to work?
Enabled through the UI tab.
Screen for next couple of questions

I tried maybe 3 times in a regular zone and maybe 3 or 4 times in Cyrodiil. One of the times in the normal zone I did see the no leader bug. I've submitted multiple bug reports in-game about it for months and so I understand the problem there. I finally gave up sending in bug reports on that problem.

I don't know anyone else who is using the addon so couldn't compare my experience with others.

It looks like you might have a space in front of the invite string. I actually don't have it setup to remove spaces before/after, so that could cause it to mess up. I'll look at adding that in. In the meantime, make sure there is NOT a space before/after your string. You can also try starting by the slash command instead with
Code:
/ai toj
As far as starting the group invite, it should work fine either way.
