FreePort  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.2.3

This addon will port you to a wayshrine for free!

The addon tries different ways to bring you to a wayshrine for free.
  1. If you're in a group it will always port you to one of your group members. This way you will always stay in the same phase as your group.
  2. If you're not in a group it will try to port you to a guild member in your area.
  3. If no group member is in your area it will try to port you to a guild member close to your level.

How does it work?
  1. Be in a guild or a group
  2. Set a key for the quick port
  3. Press the key

Alternatively you can use the slash-commands /qp or /quickport.

What do I need?

You need to be in a group or a guild.

Known Issues:
  • May not work, if the player closest to your level is in a VR area.

Future Features:
  • Include friends for port targets.
  • Port function with target area selection.

Update History

Update 1.2.3
  • Bug fixed: Forgot one of my debug outputs, removed it. No more spam in the chat.

Update 1.2.2
  • Bug fixed: Special characters fixed for places, too.
  • Workaround: Members of your guild will only be a valid port target, if both of you either have a VR rank or if both don't have a VR rank. This is not valid for members of your group.

Update 1.2.1
  • Bug fixed: Special characters in a char could mess up the port. That should work now.

Update 1.2
  • Group members can now be port targets. They will have priority over the guild.

Update 1.1.1
  • Added slash-commands (/quickport or /qp)
  • Found correct functions to get player infos, should fix some wrong ports
  • Better debug outputs (Just set DEBUG = true in FreePort.lua if you want to see what's happening in the background)

Update 1.1
  • Sets alternative target, if no guild member in the same are is found
  • A bit code cleanup

So is this an updated form of the Jumper addon? That no longer works due to Zenimax banning the ability to jump to yourself. I tried the jumper addon two times, once before the latest patch and then last night after to see it was disabled. I felt Jumper might be a bit of an exploit so this might be a better solution since your just using the in game ability to teleport to a guild member.

Suggestions

This is a pretty awesome idea. Is there any plans to expand it to maybe, show which wayshrine the guild member is at?

I don't think that's possible.

Question, does it browse all guild members or only the first guild (g1), because I noticed it keeps teleporting me to a guy in my first main guild.

It looks through all guilds. As I currently don't know a way to get the wayshrine closest to you, I just take the first player I find in your area.

I'll add a slash-command in the next update.

Maybe for you, but for me writing /port or something is easier than reaching for num5.

I will try it. Never did anything with a GUI, guess it would be a nice exercise.

Not sure if its a bug but. I have noticed that with the most recent version I am getting ported to someone right next to me in my #1 guild allot while my #4 guild has 500 people (About 100 online) who have people in the same zone as me. I guess its not a huge deal since a Wayshrine in the starter zone for AD will get you to the same ones as on in say Greenshade but it longer loading.
