If you are looking for an easy fix for Morrowind, I've uploaded a ZIP under OTHER FILES (look for Dustman unofficial fix for Morrowind v6.3)
I just did the fix that Hoft found (thx Hoft, credit goes to you).
I replace a line in dustman.lua starting with
usableIngredients = known
to:
if itemId~=nil then usableIngredients = k...
