CookeryWiz keeps track of known recipes for your characters, and other characters you have imported.
The icon color represents knowledge of recipes for the logged in character (Me) and every other character you are tracking
Dull greyish-green: The recipe is known by everyone (Me and everyone else)...

It is indeed CookeryWiz that is reporting the mail send error, but it is not CW that is sending the mail. I guess some other addon is trying to send mail and failing. This event is global so that is why CW is responding to it.
I have updated CookeryWiz to not display mail send errors in the 1.0.23 release I have just upload...
