Updating Quest Information

Most of the quest information has been added or updated by mass adding quests from the SavedVariables file. However, I am no longer accepting information that way unless it is for a new chapter. If you have a specific quest pin you would like updated provide the information at LibQuestData:Github/22.

Description
Adds pins for completed and uncompleted quests to the map. (Including not yet started quests!)
NOTE: Map pins are never added to the Tamriel map. Not by QuestMap or HarvestMap.
Major change: Quest Map no longer has internal quest information and instead uses LibQuestData.

Please do not submit `QuestMapScout` files as the information is not formatted for what Quest Map uses. If you want to contribute then upload your LibQuestData to the GitHub link above under "Special Request".

Requirements
To be able to use this add-on you'll need to install these libraries too:These add-ons are optional:
Features
  • Uses new functions introduced in API update 6 to automatically get a list of completed quests, that means you can start using this add-on at any time/level and it will "know" which quests you have completed before.
  • Tooltip shows the quest name and additional info (Cadwell's Almanac quest, skill point reward)
  • Manually (un)hide ((un)mark as completed) quest pins by clicking on it
  • Map pin filters for completed, uncompleted, started and manually hidden quests (you can find them to the right of the map after clicking on the funnel icon)
  • Subfilters to only display Cadwell's Almanac quests and/or quests that reward skill points
  • Different map pin filter settings for PvP and PvE possible (e.g. quests not displayed in Cyrodiil but still in other zones)
  • Changable pin size and pin level
  • Languages supported: English / German / French / Russian / Polish

Commands (enter in chat input)
  • Open settings menu
    /questmap
  • Manually (un)hide all quest of the currently displayed map (zone/subzone/dungeon/etc.):
    /qm hide
    /qm unhide
  • Display list of quests for the current map:
    /qmlist *arg*
*arg* can be 'completed', 'uncompleted', 'hidden', 'started', 'cadwell', 'skill' or empty (for last used argument)
    /qmgetpos
  • (Not for reporting quests) Display your current location

Contributions

CaptainBlagbird - The person that wrote Quest Map and also provided some of the data for Skyrim and Blackreach

Necropsi - Provided quest data and some of the icons used in Quest Map
MikeZeDev - Provided quest data
Gimplekin - Provided quest data
Inval1d - Spanish translation for menu options
FenixsRU - Russian translation
Baertram - German Translation
tomkolp - Polish translation

Notes, Please read!
  • Make sure you install the add-on before starting up ESO, else the pin icon files may not be loaded.
  • There are quests that are missable. Yes I know that sucks, but the missable quests are only (I hope) quests that introduce you to a new region (e.g. quest "To Firsthold"), that's why it's possible to have some few unfinished quests with no related quest giver in each zone.
  • For more specific info, also see the FAQ.
  • If you want to help improve this add-on, LibQuestData automatically tracks updates for itself.

v2.76
  • Fix a typo in tooltip for new settings menu options

  • Added option to change texture of the repeatable quest pins

  • Added unique icon for Daily and Repeatable quests.

Probably not. As I mentioned I used the Minimap to test with and it worked fine. Then I removed it because I do not use it. However, I did remove LibStub requirements and that isn't something users normally do. That doesn't change the functionality of the mod though.

As I mentioned the previous two posts list more then just Quest Map and LibQuestInfo. Quest Map and other authors mods can not run without all of their requirements. Meaning Quest map requires way more then 2 things to function. Rather then repeat it I ask users to read the previous posts so I don't have to retype what I already posted.

This would only happen if LibMapPins was not loaded and Quest Map can not load without it.

Reinstalling Greymoor should not make any difference. No need to try that.

I only ask people read posts I have already written so I don't have to repeat myself, I don't expect you to be a mod author.

Just to recap because it is on page 2 now, quoting from "Previous Post about errors #1" all of these are required for this mod to function.

Quest Map
LibQuestInfo
LibMapPins
LibGPS
LibMapPing <<-- Required for LibGPS
LibDebugLogger <<-- Required for LibGPS
LibChatMessage <<-- Required for LibGPS

You should uninstall and install all of those mods and see if that changes anything.

About the only thing I can do if you still get the error after reinstalling all the libraries required is to ask if you are willing to zip your entire Addons folder and add it to a GitHub issue.
based on the design, I packed the file into .zip format and tried to put it into your proposed GitHub issue. but I have a problem, the whole file of the addons folder is 134 Mb and the GitHub issue is only 10Mb allowed, so I fixed it at this address https://ufile.io/fofakjnn

I do not use all the addons contained in the folder for various reasons, either they are outdated so that they do not work at the moment and I am waiting for an update or there are alternatives (backups) of other addons in case of temporary malfunction and there are several of them that I turn on only occasionally.

one more note: in the case of the LibMapPins library, I tried to switch to an older version because the author writes in the comments that the latest version is causing problems but still gives me errors

I was having the same issues as the others, but I think I found the culprit.

Lorebooks.

The latest update on June 12:
v19.3
- First batch of the new books, roughly 80% in total.
- Some groundwork for future changes to quest handling.
I looked inside the Lorebooks code and found some references to questing, especially LibQuestInfo not found in v19.2. I figured that there may be some conflict between Quest Map and Lorebooks since they both use LibQuestInfo.

I appreciate the feedback but this is about the same as vecny.samotar is reporting. Quest Map can not load and run without the libraries it depends on. The error is saying it can not find the function from LibQuestInfo. The function can't be missing unless the file is empty. Baertram even just installed Lorebooks the other day and the file size for one of the files was 0kb. So something really odd is happening with Minion that I can't control.

All I can suggest is reinstall all the libraries with Minion or if you are computer savvy enough manually install them. If you still get the error I am going to be confused. Because Quest Map can not load without all the libraries active and, if they are all active it can't error and say a function is missing.

About the only thing I can do if you still get the error after reinstalling all the libraries required is to ask if you are willing to zip your entire Addons folder and add it to a GitHub issue.

As stated previously a few posts down all errors are caused by the same thing regardless of the line number or the file. I would appreciate it if you would read those posts but I will summarize again.

Causes for errors:

1. Minion does not install mods properly. It can leave entire files empty when extracting the zip file.
2. Security programs will mark your My Documents folder as protected. This is expected that's what security programs do. You will need to read your security programs documentation and configure them to allow ESO and Minion full access to your My Documents folder.

Solutions for errors:

1. Manually delete Quest Map and LibQuestInfo and the libraries listed in the previous post. You may need to run Minion as admin if you have installation issues. You can either reinstall with Minion or manually install the mods.
2. Since security programs feel they are doing their job protecting files, they will set files in your SavedVariables as read only. You may have to manually delete them. The previous post shows an alternative using Minion with a screen shot.

For clarity I marked the previous posts with an orange title Previous Post about errors #1 and #2

I usually update the addons via the minion application, but according to what you wrote before, I uninstalled Quest Map and LibQuestInfo via the minion and also deleted the data from the SavedVariables folder and then I manually downloaded both addons, which I unzipped to the Documents \ Elder Scrolls Online \ live \ AddOns folder \ but as I wrote the errors appeared even then. and I checked something I was missing

I also noticed that the quest items (more precisely 4 items (uncompleted, completed, started, manual hidden)) disappeared from the maps / filters than the user Marazota on the screen on page 3

Lua Code:
  1. user:/AddOns/QuestMap/Main.lua:168: function expected instead of nil
  2. stack traceback:
  3. user:/AddOns/QuestMap/Main.lua:168: in function 'UpdateZoneQuestData'
This is the line of code for that part of the error
Lua Code:
  1. zoneQuests = LQI:get_quest_list(zone)
Which wants these lines in LibQuestInfo
Lua Code:
  1. function lib:get_quest_list(zone)
  2.     if type(zone) == "string" and lib.quest_locations[zone] ~= nil then
  3.         return lib.quest_locations[zone]
  4.     else
  5.         return {}
  6.     end
  7. end
If the function returns nothing then the program will know. However, it will find this for the map you are on.
Lua Code:
  1. ["grahtwood/eldenrootcrafting_base_0"] =
  2.     {
  3.         [1] =
  4.         {
  5.             [1] = 0.4109000000,
  6.             [2] = 0.5298000000,
  7.             [3] = -10,
  8.             [4] = -10,
  9.             [5] = 4922,
  10.             [6] = -10,
  11.             [7] = -10,
  12.             [8] = -10,
  13.             [9] = 49709,
  14.         },
  15.     },
So again it can't error. Both things would be found unless the files do not exist. Meaning Minion didn't install them.
Lua Code:
  1. |caaaaaa<Locals> zone = "grahtwood/eldenrootcrafting_ba..." </Locals>|r
  2. user:/AddOns/QuestMap/Main.lua:372: in function 'MapCallbackQuestPins'
  3. |caaaaaa<Locals> pinType = "Quest_uncompleted", zone = "grahtwood/eldenrootcrafting_ba..." </Locals>|r
  4. user:/AddOns/QuestMap/Main.lua:563: in function 'layoutCallback'
The above code is more complex to show so I will just say it's for LibMapPins. Which again, Quest Map should not load if the dependency is not installed or the current version.

The last part also doesn't make sense.
Lua Code:
  1. EsoUI/Ingame/Map/WorldMap.lua:1500: in function

It is trying to run this code from the game itself. Which is for the Compass Pins.
Lua Code:
  1. function ZO_WorldMapPins:RefreshCustomPins(optionalPinType)
  2.     for pinTypeId, pinData in pairs(self.customPins) do
  3.         if optionalPinType == nil or optionalPinType == pinTypeId then
  4.             self:RemovePins(pinData.pinTypeString)
  5.
  6.             if pinData.enabled then
  7.                 pinData.layoutCallback(self)
  8.             end
  9.         end
  10.     end
  11. end
Which is the most confusing because Quest Map does not draw compass pins.

None of this makes any sense because all these errors mean you do not have things installed that the mod requires. Yet the current version of the mod should not load at all without them.

Lua Code:
  1. user:/AddOns/MiniMap/MiniMap.lua:5888: in function '(anonymous)'
From your first post the third error you listed has that line which is Fyrakin's MiniMap. Which also works fine with this mod I tried it myself weeks ago after the update just to see if it works. I don't use it but it worked just fine.

I sympathize with you but this is not my error. I don't know what mod is causing this. I don't know if you need to run Minion as admin and reinstall everything. I don't know if you have programs like Malwarebytes that need to be configured a certain way. However, I have running over 100 mods at all times. I can't reproduce that error. If I can't reproduce the error then I can't suggest anything else.

Who knows you could have a cloud service like OneDrive or something from Apple or Google that is out of sync with your My Documents folder where all the ESO mods are stored. When you update mods with Minion those services may be reverting your changes. I really do not know what is happening on your system. I can't come to you and do it for you. Since I do not have your system and your exact situation I wouldn't have any idea what to suggest.

Both posts go over more then that. There are multiple pieces to making mods work. Minion does not install them automatically. You have to read each mod author's page. As a courtesy I listed all of the libraries I feel are required. Potentially you need to reinstall all of them.

You are still having an error that can not occur because the mod can not load without the libraries. How minion or how anything can be installed partly is a mystery to me.

Not exactly. The plans for 2.0 of LibQuestInfo will be to provide mod authors like CaptainBlagbird or the author of Destinations would be able to get the information shown on the description page. Meaning, there would be a function that would return 0, 1, 2 and those values could be used by the author to display pins since they refer to whether or not the quest is repeatable and which type.

The only reason that takes so long is all that information needs to be obtained and verified or it won't be accurate.

Basically the library just provides functions for mod authors to use. Whether or not they do so is up to them.
I see! All clear

Ah yea.. checked the API, it seems that one function to know if the quest is repeatable does not exists.. You need to hardcode it in a lib. Is that what are you planning to do in LibQuestInfo version 2 (from what I read in the addon's description)?
