Updating Quest Information

Most of the quest information has been added or updated by mass adding quests from the SavedVariables file. However, I am no longer accepting information that way unless it is for a new chapter. If you have a specific quest pin you would like updated provide the information at LibQuestData:Github/22.

Description
Adds pins for completed and uncompleted quests to the map. (Including not yet started quests!)
NOTE: Map pins are never added to the Tamriel map. Not by QuestMap or HarvestMap.
Major change: Quest Map no longer has internal quest information and instead uses LibQuestData.

Please do not submit `QuestMapScout` files as the information is not formatted for what Quest Map uses. If you want to contribute then upload your LibQuestData to the GitHub link above under "Special Request".

Requirements
To be able to use this add-on you'll need to install these libraries too:These add-ons are optional:
Features
  • Uses new functions introduced in API update 6 to automatically get a list of completed quests, that means you can start using this add-on at any time/level and it will "know" which quests you have completed before.
  • Tooltip shows the quest name and additional info (Cadwell's Almanac quest, skill point reward)
  • Manually (un)hide ((un)mark as completed) quest pins by clicking on it
  • Map pin filters for completed, uncompleted, started and manually hidden quests (you can find them to the right of the map after clicking on the funnel icon)
  • Subfilters to only display Cadwell's Almanac quests and/or quests that reward skill points
  • Different map pin filter settings for PvP and PvE possible (e.g. quests not displayed in Cyrodiil but still in other zones)
  • Changable pin size and pin level
  • Languages supported: English / German / French / Russian / Polish

Commands (enter in chat input)
  • Open settings menu
    /questmap
  • Manually (un)hide all quest of the currently displayed map (zone/subzone/dungeon/etc.):
    /qm hide
    /qm unhide
  • Display list of quests for the current map:
    /qmlist *arg*
    *arg* can be 'completed', 'uncompleted', 'hidden', 'started', 'cadwell', 'skill' or empty (for last used argument)
    /qmgetpos
  • (Not for reporting quests) Display your current location

Notes, Please read!
  • Make sure you install the add-on before starting up ESO, else the pin icon files may not be loaded.
  • There are quests that are missable. Yes I know that sucks, but the missable quests are only (I hope) quests that introduce you to a new region (e.g. quest "To Firsthold"), that's why it's possible to have some few unfinished quests with no related quest giver in each zone.
  • For more specific info, also see the FAQ.
  • If you want to help improve this add-on, LibQuestData automatically tracks updates for itself.

Authors don't have a way to mine the game data for these kinds of quality of life suggestions. I don't have a way to get what the next or previous quest is.

To contrast what I am doing now, I look at a list of map names, go to the location, enter it since it's usually a dungeon or delve, and press F2. 5 kids and other real life things I don't have much time. It has taken me almost 2 weeks to do what I am doing now and I'm about half done. The kind of feature you are requesting takes the most work. One of the last quests I looked at The Orrery of Elden Root does not have a short list of technical details and quest ID numbers.

It's still possible but even if I implement this, it will not be complete for a very long time. For me to create a char and do all the quests in a zone just to make sure I know what quests are prerequisites to others, would take me a week per map. With real life as I mentioned it took me about a week for each map to gather quests for Skyrim, Blackreach, and Summerset. I think to have this working and refined would take about 42 weeks of consistent work. I can work on it when I can but I do not feel I will have almost a years worth of spare time to refine this. All I can do is slowly work on it bit by bit.

Because of the sudden lack of posts about errors hopefully they are all resolved for now until I update something else.

I would like to thank Kyoma and Jason20910 for pointing out the error. It was nice to see someone actually enable and disable mods and post more then "Error" with no possible cause for it.

If Kyoma had not tried using LibQuestInfo to obtain quest names I am not sure the error would have been found. Obviously the error occurring with two mods Lorebooks and Quest Map got people to look for conflicts a little more diligently. I would have never known there was another mod with a LibQuestInfo.lua file included with it.

I am happy to hear that. I feel the bulk of the errors were from the embeded library LibQuestInfo from Ravalox' Quest Tracker. Because it shared the exact same name and did not have the functions my mod had. Therefore Quest map could not access the functions it was looking for.

I spent far too much time about 10 hours to stress this enough. If you have an issue follow the overall guidelines I mention on the description page for LibQuestData about only enabling one addon and the libraries it requires and one other addon and the libraries it requires to test and troubleshoot your own mods.

I am sorry for deleting your post with the errors. If you find something between one mod and Quest Map then I can take a look but refrain from posting "in case it might be" kind of situations. Make sure any future reports are with only the minimal amount of mods active to reproduce the conflict.

I was going to use your addons to test with and I notice you have an old mod of mine installed called HarvestMerge. It does not work with HarvestMap anymore and I have not updated it. It would probably destroy things in strange ways. Please consider uninstalling that.

Also 17 of your folders had older version of the mod. I would just go down the list in Minion and right click each one and reinstall it.

You also do not need the following:

QuestMapLog
QuestMapScout

All quest information for use with LibQuestData and QuestMap is done with LibQuestData.

So far the mods you need to delete:

TreasureMaps - < Why? Just why? It cased the error right away. It is so old and uses a very old version of Shinni's Custom Compass Pins that causes a huge conflict.

Mods with embedded libraries that cause conflicts:

pNames
Notebook Mods
as I have already written some addons I have installed and they are turned off, as an example I would mention the TreasureMaps you mentioned.
in the case of pNames and Notebook Mods, I am aware that they are causing conflicts, but pNames is modified to work at least partially until the author releases an update that fixes the bugs he now has. As for the Notebook addon, there is an alternative to this addon called Notebook 2018, but the author used the Notebook addon as a basis, but combined three notebooks into one, which cleared the clarity, as I have a different type of note in each Notebook, so I use Notebook and only use Notebook 2018. his library. I do this from the corner of the reason when the author refused to introduce construction, ie to introduce bookmarks

yes, I am aware of certain conflicts, but they have so far been influenced by map or quest addons

Some people have it happen on one char and not others, some have it happen everywhere and have to exit the game, and I'm still unsure about how to reproduce an error I spent 10 hours trying to reproduce.

I have a hotfix for LibQuestData. Since I neglected my family yesterday hoping to find a resolution knowing today I spend most of my day with my wife, I tried my best to finish yesterday so I wouldn't need to do anything today.

I won't be able to try anything else until this evening.

Please update LibQuestData to the current version as of an hour ago v1.89. If Minion gives you trouble, do it again. That was remarkably all I did yesterday was update the mods the users provided with Minion and loaded the game.

Script error after lastes update.

Got the same error as the previous posters. Tried disabling all add-ons and libs, except those required, and it still failed. (I never had to LibQuestInfo folder, as that did not exist, but I did clean up some old SavedVariables files.) Then suddenly it after a reload in Coldharbour worked.

I did my harvest map run across many regions, I went back to my base town: Alinor - and suddenly the error reappeared.

Could it be that the error only pops up in Summerset/Alinor?

I see most others have the same line in the error message.

After Update

I've got 2 errors aftrer the last update. I de- an reinstalled the addonn an the renamed lib but the errors occurs again.

I tested different wayshrines. In Solitude (new DLC) or Wayrest no problem, but in Alinor (Sommersend).

And I got this error with no other addon installed, just QuestMap and the needed libs.

I rolled back both from esoui-archive manually (2.7 and lib 1.87) and everything worked again.

Step 1:



You will notice Quest Map has updated and you would click Install. However, the library changed to LibQuestData and Minion will not handle that for you.

Step 2:



As you can see Minion doesn't even know that you had LibQuestInfo installed at some point. It's not even in the list anymore.

Step 3:



You have to go to your Windows Explorer and manually delete LibQuestInfo.

Step 4:



Click the Find More button and search for LibQuestData. Install that and now Quest Map should work as it did before.

With over 230 mods loaded at any given time in different combinations. I also provide screen shots of the testing at certain times to show the cluttered UI. After 10 hours of testing mods provided by users, with no food and no break, I could not reproduce the error.

There is no solution or steps you will simply need to read that. I am sure you can understand that after spending that much time I will not be repeating what is on the description page.

I am sorry you have that error. There are no known or reproducible errors at this time.
