TraitBuddy is an addon that tries to help you easily manage and keep track of what crafting research traits all your characters know. Great for those alt'o'holics out there just like myself.

I have expanded many game tooltips so that the information you want to see is right there on the item where you need it. There is also a custom screen if you prefer to see all the research in one place.

In case you are unsure what an alt is, it is a term to describe another/alternative character.

This addon is for Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworker and Jewellery traits as the other professions don't have traits you can research.

The latest version of addon library LibAddonMenu is required and will need to be installed separately.

Features

Expanded in-game tooltips:
Bag, loot, mail, buyback, trade, guild store search, guild store listings, links placed in chat, quest rewards, crafting, equipped items, and motifs
See the traits your character and your alts know
See the traits your character and your alts are researching
Automatically knows when your research has finished. You don't need to log on to your alts for it to update.
See the motifs your character and your alts know
Research overview screen
Compact movable window
Allows you to view any of your alts by simply picking them from a dropdown or using an icon bar
The screen you see will be just as if you had logged on to that alt
You choose which alts are included/compared
Customisable icon and text colours
Translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Russian
Supports gamepad mode
Ability to filter motifs, unknown, almost completed etc
List of all crafted sets with details of their bonuses and locations
Support for other addons such as Inventory Grid View and Inventory Insight
Icons in inventory

What do the icons mean?
Green Tick
The selected character has researched that trait.

Orange Tick
At least one or more of your characters has completed researching that trait.
But not the currently selected character.

Blue Hourglass
The selected character is researching that trait.

Orange Hourglass
No characters have completed researching that trait but one or more of your characters have started to learn it.

The colours can be customised from the options.

How to set it up

Log in to each character one by one so TraitBuddy can automatically work its magic
Check out the tooltips on items with traits and motifs

There are 3 ways to open the TraitBuddy window

Bind a key
Use the buttons added to the corners of the crafting stations, skill screen and guild store
Use the chat commands /traitbuddy and /traitbuddyoptions

Use any combination you prefer.
Binding a key is done from the normal ESO options screen

Bring up the ESO Options > Controls > Keybindings and scroll down until you see "TraitBuddy Addon"
Choose a key you would like to use to show and hide the window
Personally I bind the ] key

Info for other Addon makers
Detect when mousing over a trait in TraitBuddy
In your onLoad function

Toggling a character off under the options does mean that you wont see the Trait details for that character.

Off as in you go to the TraitBuddy options and say dont show me the traits for some alts or off as in you go the games addons window and disable the addon for other characters?

Version 2.1 is published and contains the new motifs and materials for Akaviri, Mercenary and Ancient Orc. As the Ancient Orc motif is listed as motif 21 I had to make some code improvements to handle it, which in the long term is a good thing. Maybe they will add motif 20 Yokudan later on. Let me know if there are any issues and I will look at them as soon as I can.

I fixed a small bug with how TraitBuddy dealt with newly added game motifs which it did not understand. It should at least be error free now while I work on adding the new motifs and materials. Orsinium was just released, the largest content ESO has ever released. I am looking at the addon to make sure it still works, then I will be working on including the 3 new motif styles.

I have just got home from work and my game is patching.

Weolo Forum posts: 79 File comments: 563 Uploads: 4	Version 1.9 Version 1.9 is released I have fixed a bug when learning motifs from the crown store and books which taught you more than one motif chapter. I even spent 5000 crowns on the glass motif just to make sure this worked correctly. This version contains an automatic fix for anyone who had this issue.

I learned the Glass Axe motif with my blacksmith. Then, realizing the total cost in gold of all the associated motifs, I bought the entire Glass Motif Book from the Crown Store and read it with my same blacksmith. The book has all the glass motifs in one read, they are not separated out to learn each individually. My guess is this "trait duplication" (Glass Axes) is returning unexpected data to your MOD. Now, she gets the following error when logging in: user:/AddOns/TraitBuddy/TraitBuddy.lua:103: attempt to index a boolean value stack traceback: user:/AddOns/TraitBuddy/TraitBuddy.lua:103: in function 'UpdateMotifs' user:/AddOns/TraitBuddy/TraitBuddy.lua:1946: in function 'OnLoaded' The MOD is not able to track her motif/trait progress. It is hard for me to test the new motifs as I have none of them myself. Ah! I just spotted a typo in my code, I am publishing a fix now, let me know if it works. This is happening for glass and xivkyn.

I know one glass and 3 xivkyn and none are displaying as known.

Apparently, the Addon doesn't look at your current known chapters, but will be marked once you learn a new chapter..

Hope the Author fixes this... is it that hard to scan Achievements to see what was learned already?

Odd thing is, all the old motifs i know are highlighted. I just installed this addon for the first time this week. The only ones not being highlighted are the two new motif's
