Clean UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.3
by: Zinival [More]
Currently working on a tentative update and expansion...

This mod is free for anyone to alter/edit/update/patch/expand/etc. No need to ask permission, but PLEASE CREDIT ME in your mod description. My textures are inspired bu the console UI, but they are indeed custom textures. I made them before it was possible to extract the UI texture files from the game, so I had to tediously create them based on screenshots.

I specifically designed them to look less "flat" than the console textures, which included adding subtle color gradients and shadows. It may not look fancy, but it took a LOT of time to get everything looking right before it was possible to extract the UI texture files from the game. They are NOT default game assets, so please credit me if you base your textures on mine! Thanks.

Clean UI (for PC)

This addon retextures several elements of the UI to give a clean and consistent look, without straying far from the look of the default UI. If you've ever found yourself thinking that the default UI wouldn't be so bad without the "grunge" overlays and fuzzy textures, then this is the addon for you! Many of the changes are subtle, but I feel they are worthwhile. Take a look at the screenshots to see for yourself.

Please adjust your gamma in Video Settings for the best results!

Features
  • Various Small Improvements (removal of some "grunge" effects, etc)
  • Clean Action bar
  • Clean Ability and Achievement Icon Borders
  • Clean Progress Bars (XP, Champion, and Timer Bars)
  • Clean Tooltips
  • Clean Compass (compatible with addons that tweak the compass i.e resize/scale, move, hide, or hide the background)
  • Clean Player Attribute Bars (compatible with addons that add information/overlays/colors/opacity to the default frames, as well as custom unit frame addons)
  • Clean Unit Frames - Target/Group - (compatible with addons that add information/overlays/colors/opacity to the default frames, as well as custom unit frame addons)

Compatibility

Completely Compatible with nearly everything. Any addons that utilize default textures will be affected by this addon. (I think that's a good thing!)
Partially Compatible with other UI retexture addons, such as Oblivion Style UI and Skyrim Style UI. There seem to be some issues with our compasses coniflicting if you use a gamepad.
Completely Incompatible with ... nothing that I know of.

Recommended Addons
  • Azurah - Interface Enhanced - for various great improvements to the default UI
  • AUI - "TESO Template", for buff tracking and further customization of unit frames
  • MiniMap - because even though I spent a long time making the compass look nice, I still hate it

Thanks

Many, many thanks to Half-Dead for creating Oblivion Style UI and Skyrim Style UI. Without looking as those great UI addons I couldn't have figured out how to get my retextures into the game. Please check out them out if you are looking for a different UI.

Permission

Consider every texture in this addon a modder's resource. Everyone is allowed to use/modify/fix my textures however they like and upload them as part of their own addon. All I ask is that you don't put them on sites that charge money and that you GIVE ME CREDIT in your mod description or readme. Thanks!

Working great now that I disabled SkyrimStyleUI. I think I prefer the default icons anyway.
The only thing I can suggest is some aliasing in the angled parts of the target and attribute frames.

Love the addon I was wondering if it's possible to add the same border/clean look to the chat box?

I can't get this addon to work properly at all. All it does is remove any tooltip background, the compass and boarders on resources and target display.

I have no idea what is causing the custom images to not load, your other cleanactionbar addon works fine.

Edit: Well with nothing else in the addon folder or savedvariables this installs and runs fine, so now I have to track down wich one of my other addons is causing the issue.

It's not part of the addon yet. It's under "planned features (in progress)". I will be making them look nicer at some point.

Clean character window and inventory background?

I still have the mottled smokey backgrounds for the character and inventory backgrounds. I am not sure if this is from another addon or not currently a part of Clean UI. Is this possible to add? Thanks again!

Yeah that's pretty neat! I'd love to see people make some more variety. All of my textures are free for anyone to use as long as it's only used for ESO, and not uploaded to a pay site.

By the way I love this addon it is pretty much what I have been looking for in a UI. However there is a bug in the latest version. Whenever I reload the UI, or switch to gamepad UI, the compass disappears. I have to exit the game to get it back.

Edit.. btw I forgot to mention I had disabled the compass in Skyrim Style UI.

Blue border example

Hello. Here is a quick example of what I was thinking. I'm not very Photoshop savvy but I took all of your art assets and ran them through a batch process. I am sure anyone with a little skill could come up with many more options.

Half-Dead retextured quite a bit of the UI for Skyrim Style UI and Oblivion Style UI. Looking at those files saved me a ton of time, but there were still a lot of things that no one had retextured yet.

For those things, I could only view the textures and dimensions in TextureIt. I had to actually make the textures from scratch using dimensions and screenshots as reference. I spent hours and hours getting everything to line up correctly.

That's why I plan to release all my source files once I have them organized. When people have the proper dimensions and alignment to go off of, retexturing the UI becomes much, much simpler. It will simply be a matter of "tracing" over my textures with their own, so to speak.

Again, thank you for your work!
