ESO Graphics Extender  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0.1
by: Jizargo [More]
Disclaimer: I will do updates on this site first since I have direct access to it. So if this gets approved check ESOUI for updates in the future or my eso forums post.

(I highly recommend using Votan's Darker Nights addon. It will automatically adjust gamma levels according to the time of day)

In Settings > Addons > Votan Darker Nights > set New Moon to 80, Full Moon to 90.

ESO Graphics Extender 2.0.1

Finally the most massive ESO graphical overhaul has been released. With the newly released shader pack for Reshade 3.0.7 there are some really neat effects you can replicate in ESO. After weeks of tweaking and consulting with shader programmers I've finally finished this master piece. This is more than just a Reshade preset, it also contains slightly modified shaders for ESO and increases the view distance drastically, so there is no longer a blue tinted fog everywhere.
This preset is based off Ultra Real Lighting and Colors, adjustments were made mathematically with a bit of eyeballing on the side. There are several differences between this overhaul and any other preset. The aim of this project was to replicate visual enhancement mods seen in Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind with ENBs and such. SweetFX previously did not have the tools to do the things we can achieve now in ESO.

How to Install

(As requested, I've provided a video tutorial here)
  • Copy the Reshade files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
  • Extract Hook64 and use Launcher64.exe to start ESO
  • Press RShift + F2 to bring up Reshade GUI, if you have drastic performance problems (5+ fps hit) go to Settings, Usage mode, then click performance mode.
*Note: If reshade disables the preset when the GUI disappears then click Settings and do the following
Input Processing: Block input when cursor is on overlay
Under User Interface check Show Clock or Show FPS (This will keep the GUI active to avoid the bug. Crosire is aware of this issue)

What is all this?

ESO Graphics Extender is a combination of multiple tools and shaders. We use Hook64 to increase the draw distance and remove some excess fog. Reshade is used to render the graphical enhancements, and this specific reshade has been modified to allow depth buffer access at all times. In the public reshade there is a netcode to disable depth buffer access to prevent reshade from being seen as a cheating device. ESO however is aware of reshade and hook64 hence you cannot exploit the game with it anymore nor is it against their rules.

For those of you who are familiar with SweetFX you may have seen other presets. However this reshade version has been developed along side some really neat shaders. We can now achieve things like DOF in ESO which was huge for me. As well as the preset being specifically developed for extended view distance. This is still a WIP so please take screenshots and report any problems that occur. I'm aware of the black texture issue and am looking to fix it if possible.

-Known Bugs-

1) Reshade doesn't render unless GUI is active.
Solution: Shift+F2 then click Settings, then change Input Processing to "Block input when cursor is on overlay". Now under user interface check show Time/FPS.

2) Crash on Startup
Solution: Rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll

3) No shaders showing up in reshade menu
Solution: Check d3d11.ini and dxgi.ini if the paths are set correctly for you game and shader folder.

4) DoF doesn't work (or everything is caught in DoF?)
Solution: Full screen breaks DOF, change to Windowed Fullscreen.

Mouse

Works great, picture is just gorgeous. There is a small problem, the mouse Logitech М510 stopped working additional buttons and a wheel because of this we had to get back to the normal shaders.

Doesn't work with Steam versions of ESO ?

I'd love to try this but it doesn't work.
Launcher64.exe always tries to launch the Steam launcher even if the game is already running. Then it says "unable to connect to Steam" and logon is impossible.
Yes I've changed all the paths, etc.
Too bad.

In Hook64 folder you want to create a shortcut of Launcher64 or extract the folder to your desktop. You execute and itll remove fog.

It's Shift + F2, not or.
You'll have to go to reshade.me and ask there. If the reshade is loading but the hotkey isn't working then I'm unfamiliar with where it's located if at all.

Thanks.
Screen shot please. I don't play PVP anymore but this increases draw distance so I don't see why it would ever decrease view distance of enemies when ESO made it so you can't touch character/ncp load distance...

Now that I think about it, ESO specifically made it so you can't increase char/ncp draw distance... but you can increase terrain/object draw distance. Therefor relative to the increased amount of distance rendered you're seeing enemies appear when they reach the distance that they're rendered in game.

Nothing I Can do about this, it's a anti-cheat measure. Wouldn't be fair for you to see zergs half way across the map now would it?
i have the same problem. the view distance is very short now. it looks like the enemy pops out very near me now. before, i saw the enemy´s more than double far away from me

p.s. there is also a bug that blurres parts of the screen, looks likes invisible shadows that blurr graphics and text so its hard to read.
I just pointed out the enemies are rendering at the same exact distance as they did before... you're just able to see further away now, that doesn't mean the enemy distance spawning has increased. That'd be cheating.

That's not a bug it's apart of the shaders. If your UI is overlapping the sky or where there is DoF then it'll become blury. If theres anything that's excessive take a picture and show me.

Re: It Works For A While Then ESO Crashes

For some reason the addon launcher always starts the PTS version of the game and tries to login automatically even though all the addon files are in the Live version folder and the game's exe path is not set to the PTS version. Haven't figured that one out yet. So what I do is quit the PTS version from the Login screen and then start the ESO Live server version from the standard ESO Launcher (64 bit version selected). Once game is up and running I press RSHIFT and F2 and then edit the paths of the shaders and textures to the correct folder locations as well as the game's executable location path. Then click on RELOAD and Voila'! It works! The SCROLL LOCK key works as intended and the effects are certainly visible. It works for a while and then I get a random ESO crash with the ESO crash report window popping up. Sometimes the game runs for an hour, sometimes a few minutes. I very rarely have crashes in ESO on the order of once every 40 hours or so of gameplay so I'm pretty sure it's the addon causing it. I have to say that the visual effects are amazing! I will keep working with it because it certainly is amazing. Anyone have any ideas I'm glad to read them. Thank you for making this addon available!
I have no idea at all. I'm not apart of PTS, I suggest just disabling the pts server.

This may be a steam issue, I do not use steam so I wouldnt know.

Had this issue as well I forgot to include it in the description :\

Reshade has a known issue where arrangement of shaders overlap and just **** up somehow. Think of it like when you mod skyrim and you have out of place mod order, thats basically whats happening.

Remembering font size setting after logout

One thing that would be awesome in the future, when I use Ctrl+mousewheel to reset the size of the font of the menu, it would be useful if you could make it so it remembered between sessions. It gets tedious to change it again and again.

Also, I'm not using any of those dof settings because it fuzzies up my UI.

Otherwise, a great tool!
