Urich's Skill Point Finder  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 7.2.0
by: fritzOSU03, Onigar, tim99, yachoor
Description
Have you ever been in a situation where you need more skill points but you have no idea where to get them? Well today is your lucky day! Urich's Skill Point Finder provides a graphical interface showing all of the skill points you have (and haven't) earned throughout the entire game. You can show or hide the window by binding a hotkey or by entering the slash command. Slash command information is below.

Please Note
From Version 5.1.0 you need to separately install: LibTableFunctions-1.0 and LibAddonMenu-2.0

Localization
Localization for Russian, German, French, and Japanese is included. I speak only English so I am very sorry if a translation is incorrect. My only available source was Google Translate. Please message me if you see a translation that can be improved or shortened where space is an issue. Also feel free to provide a complete translation for another language if you would like to see it added to a future update.

Slash Commands
  • /uspf - Show or hide the USPF window.
  • /uspf help - Display help information in the chat window.
Known Issues/Complications
  1. The Folium Discognitum is a scroll that awards two skill points on use. Because the Folium is a scroll and not a book, it is not possible to determine if if you have earned those points besides comparing the number of earned skill points with the number of expected skill points + 2. There is an override in the settings menu if this information is not correct for your character.
  2. There are skill points awarded upon completion of tutorial quests for Morrowind and following chapters characters. If you skip the quest you'll get the skill point but the addon will not be able to determine that. There are override options in the settings menu for these skill points if this information is not correct for your character.

Re: Bug on Achievement gain

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. Those two calls are made when an achievement is updated or completed but being in a station may have an impact on that for some reason.

As for ZOS' changes from the PTS to the live version, I'm sure this is the case, but I never mentioned the fact that I had actually messaged the staff privately about the information when they reset our progress at the end of the first week and couldn't get a response. It's just frustrating to find that it got changed out from under me after going through that questline multiple times. But hey, that's how it goes.

I think I got it when creating a ring. There didn't seem to be any achievement gained, but I might not have noticed it. I had a toon that I was not currently on selected.
I also got this when I did earn an achievement:

Similar bug when I completed a quest:user:/AddOns/USPF/USPF.lua:452: attempt to index a nil value
stack traceback:
user:/AddOns/USPF/USPF.lua:452: in function 'USPF_ResetSelectedCharacter'
user:/AddOns/USPF/USPF.lua:1517: in function 'USPF_QuestRemoved'

All seem to be on the same line.

Not like they can list every change in a large patch like this, and it isn't possible to know every single addon either, and see if changes affect them. Going from the last PTS version to live, they don't list bugfixes (of the PTS content), which is understandable because they weren't bugs on live.
Edit: For your edit.

Re: Re: Re: Summerset quests SkillPoints providing

So I've scoured the PTS and live server patch notes and there's no mention of this change. I'm going to send lots of salt at ZOS if they made a change that impacted an addon without proper documentation via the patch notes; that's completely unacceptable from a developer perspective. I went through the full Summerset storyline on my main (over CP cap) when the PTS went live and received a total of six skill points (3,1,1,1) at different times in the quest so I know beyond all doubt that the points I received had nothing to do with leveling. I'll publish an update once it's been confirmed to be necessary and the new information is accurate. Thanks for the info.

On a side note, I'd be grateful to anyone with available time in the near future who can go through the Summerset quest line from beginning to end and PM me with the quest names, achievements, and number of points awarded for any quest that actually awards points. You can copy the achievement from the chat box and it pastes nicely as text. I'll need at least two matching reports to be certain.

As far as I can tell, this is not the case. The Queen's Decree does not have any skill points awarded on quest turn in. It is possible you leveled to 10 when turning in the quest, receiving three skill points.

I've spent the last couple days trying to figure out why my characters had lost three skill points on respec... turns out, those skill points never existed.

EDIT: From the forums, this was a bug on the PTS, that was fixed before the game went live. So, The Queen's Decree does not award 3 skill points on completion. Sorry.

I completely forgot about public dungeons not properly awarding skill points back then, but I do remember not getting them from some now. I had thought they patched them to retroactively award the skill points, but maybe not. I'm going to look into it further.

I've also heard of a bug in older characters where skill points were not awarded for clearing some group dungeons early on but nobody's been able to confirm it so far. All my addon does is look at all possible sources for skill points and show them individually. Achievements are used whenever possible but sometimes it's necessary to use the quest id. The total is the result of all of those completions so it's more likely that you did not receive skill points for some things or they're hidden away in an old skill line. If you'r familiar with writing addons, you might try writing a function to iterate through all of your skill points, shown or not, to see where the points are allocated. This is the same thing that Spent Skill Points does although it's incorrect in the racial area. Alternatively, I may put that is as a test function at some point.

I only listed FD/Morrowind/Summerset to rule those out, because those list as 0 on the addon and that is correct; this is a character from day1 who took eidetic memory.

The only non-crafting skills with "points" in them are Diplomat (Imperial), Finders Keepers (Thieves Guild), Blade of Woe (Dark Brotherhood), Soul Trap (Soul Magic).

My question was whether those are where my four missing skill points (352 points available vs your addon reported 356 points), or if I have an issue with my character missing skill points.

If those are being counted, I'm wondering why the 1/x crafting passives aren't counted, since those are other non-refundable skills.

Has anyone had the same problem?
First of all, thanks for your reply. It seems that, if I use the link you provided, it shows "the queen's decree" quest like undone. But if I check my achievements from the proper menu page, it says I have already done it (even though it didnt provide the skillpoints)

USF addon states I have already earned 4 but I didn't receive anything but that single one.

Is the addon not working properly or is the issue related to the skillpoints reward system alongside completing the storyline quests ?
Has anyone had the same problem?

Thanks for the info. This isn't the first time I've heard about this addon causing problems. I tore it down once and didn't see anything that looked like it could cause an issue but I'll go through it again in more detail.

It's weird because that addon works well
Edit: For your edit.

If I remove every addon but yours, it works without any problems, I didn't eve had to reset saved variables... I guess this is some addon blowing things but as you said. Finding which might be a problem... I have over 60 installed atm xD

Thanks for your help, if I find which one it is I'll post here again

The error you're getting happens when the saved variables are first being accessed by the addon and it's acting like they're not being written. This kind of thing is normally caused by latency or another addon blowing things up during the setup process. Let me know how it responds after doing this.

Edit: If it does the same thing again under these conditions, PM me a PasteBin link with a copy of your saved variables file.

I've already tried to remove completely and install back and delete saved variables (while logged out). I still get the same, if I use the version 3.0.3 works fine, anything above that gives me that error.

Thanks in advance!

We're in the same boat. My main is an Imperial stam DK that I created during early access and who now largely functions as a crafter and took Eidetic Memory. He's also a werewolf but has been a vampier in the past. My guess is they're there but not visible for whatever reason.
