Re: Confused
My experience to date has shown that the updated cross-reference files in the latest version, 2.0.1, will cause follow on quest pins to appear after you have found a starting quest giver in those new zones. By "new", I mean that the zone and/or quest definition is not in or is not yet complete within the QuestMap addon cross-reference database files. What is missing from this update are the location coordinates for the starting quest givers in all the new maps and zones that ZOS have implemented since Wrothgar... zones like Vvardenfell, Eastmarch, etc. This is what stops you from seeing quest giver pins when you enter those zones currently. Last, if you are running a level one character through a level fifty zone, don't be surprised if you do not see any quest givers on your maps. The QuestMaps addon program has code in it (that I think is there) to prevent you from seeing quests that could get you killed. I have been doing all my testing, to date, on a level 50 magicka nightblade because I need to be able to see every available quest in the game. Once I get ALL of the base files updated, I plan to go back on a lower level character to verify whether the level sensitivity code is working properly or not. This is going to be a long haul for me because I am learning the game, the Lua language, and the ESO implementation of their API functions... and I am having to learn all of this simultaneously. Your saving grace is that, since I am a retired, C++ programmer, I have some skills and I have all day to apply myself to the tasks involved in getting the QuestMap addon running properly and correctly. |

Confused
Pardon me but I am a bit confused, I'm very new to ESO and I downloaded this hoping to help find some quests I havent been able to find in vardenfell, eastmarch etc. I download it and opened the map and didnt see any waypoints, I know I havent done them all. Is there an extra step or am I doing something wrong?

As to the .zip file structure, it is the result of the way the ESO and the Lua compiler/interpreter work with the ESOUI Addon Manager, Minion. From the bottom up: 1. The "QuestMap" folder: contains all of the addon program code and data files, Library programs and code, and configuration (.txt) files in raw, executable form such that they can be used by the ESO game engine "as is". The name of this folder is how the ESO engine differentiates this addon from other addons and refers to this addon program and all of its capabilities. Think of it as a "\path\name", if you will. 2. The "QuestMap-2.0.1" folder: is initially an empty folder that will hold either the zipped or unzipped files in the "QuestMap" folder. It's folder name is identical to the file name of the .zip file that contains all of the compressed addon program code, data, library and configuration files. It is a place holder that allows the Minion Addon Manager to automatically delete old "QuestMap" folders before replacing its content with the unzipped contents of the new "QuestMap" folder. Think for a moment about what would happen if I were to attempt to first delete "QuestMap" and then copy "QuestMap" without a "QuestMap-2.0.1" folder in the path name? The second operation would fail fail because the first one deleted it. 3. The "QuestMap-2.0.1.zip" file. This is a FILE and not a FOLDER. It is the result of a file compression operation to aggregate all the files and their respective file and folder path names into a single "QuestMap-2.0.1" folder, to compress all of their information, and then to write all of that compressed information out to a single file. And that's why there are so many file and folder names that seem to be identical but are not. I hope this answers your questions about file and folder names.

I have used this update but in vvardenfell I do not show any questsI have used this update but in vvardenfell I do not show any quests, where I did not carry any quests except quests (I questy checked the posture where I quests in the spanned area did not
___________________________________________________________________________________________ and why the update is embedded in the .zipsubor so that the update looks like this QuestMap-2.0.zip when you unzip it so there there updated the subory at the end of the QuestMap \ QuestMap.zip where are the same updated files note: please check before you give or you will not give me a mistake

Quest Map Scout
With help from Hawkeye1889, I have found the Quest Map Scout addon program which I have updated and am now running on the PTS server. I am starting with the Summerset Isles quests to see what QMS does and what modifications, if any, that I will need to make to integrate the QMS logs into the QM data files to make the updated quest giver locations available to you all.
FYI, if you are ever on PTS and you see any character whose name begins with "Drakanwulf", it's probably me. Feel free to walk up and say "hello". The character name of my lizard warden, S&B + Frost staff, tank is "Drakanwulf Test".
