The Elder Bar

What is it?
This addon adds an information bar on the screen, chocked full of information gadgets that update in real-time. Gadgets can be easily dragged and dropped in whatever order you prefer, you can set thresholds, go practically textless, allowing the icons themselves to tell you what you need to know. There are tons of options to configure each gadget.

Main Features
  • The Elder Bar can be unlocked, dragged, and dropped wherever you'd like it.
  • Individual gadgets can be unlocked, dragged, and dropped in any order.
  • It's actually two bars in one: you can have different icons on the bar while playing PvE content than you do in PvP.
  • Every gadget has options to display information however you like it. Want to go without text at all? Go for it! Want to set custom thresholds to warn you about weapon charges? Sure, it does that too. Want things to pester you when your durability goes too low? It can even handle that.
  • Timers can be automatically hidden when not in use. No need to clutter up the bar if you're not actually researching things, waiting for a cooldown timer, or you're not a vampire, right?
  • Every gadget has a tooltip that can display even more information, just by pointing at it with the mouse.
  • The Elder Bar can hide itself automatically, if that's your thing. Choices include talking to NPCs, visiting the bank, crafting, and more.
  • The bar can be scaled from 50% to 150% of it's normal size. You can also set bar opacity and the font.
  • Want to know when you're actually in combat? An optional setting turns the bar red when you are in combat.
  • Track mount training times across multiple characters. You can choose whether to track a character or not. Automatically stops tracking characters with mounts at maximum.
  • Track gold across multiple characters. You can choose whether to track a character or not.
  • Icons come in two variations: classic white and color. All icons have been fine-tuned to match. You won't find a mismatch assortment of colored icons, which makes seeing what's going on that much easier.
  • Sometimes coloring text just isn't enough to grab your attention. There are six different pulse settings to draw your attention to gadgets, when a critical threshold has been met: fade in, fade out, fade in/out, slow blink, fast blink, or none.

* Fixed an issue that prevented champion points from displaying properly in the level gadget when the player was below level 50 (thanks fostot!).

You are able to use the OnMouseEnter and OnMouseLeave events to register a callback function and then use the ZOs functions to show/hide a text tooltip:

Thanks for the info, but apart from me creating my own control so I have more flexibility in the tooltip's display, isn't that pretty much what I've done?

And how would I go about getting the list of characters? There's no API function that does that. You'd have to log in with each one of them so that the addon records their name and the last time their mount was trained and then I'd have to do all the math of determining how long it'd be until those folks can train their mounts again. And then what happens when you decide that you don't like the character "xXKillerXx" because stamblades are horrible? He'll still show up in the list of characters that need to train their mount, because the game isn't aware of the existence of other characters that you may have on your account other than the one you're playing right then. You'd then have to manually prune your saved variables file, which is, quite honestly, kind of a pain, to remove them.

You could get fancy and set a date and after so many days of not seeing that character log in, it could drop off the list, but that means you'd have to remember to log in with each character fairly frequently. It's a lot of logic for not a whole lot of gain. It'd be a neat feature, but I'm not sure how it'd work.

Could you maybe add a popup tooltip on the mount timer gadget which will show the time left until next mount training can be done of my other characters?

Added the option and release 8.1.0 today.

The problem is that I would love to have that display over the Elder Bar but it goes behind your addon. I would imagine it would have something to do with layer depth and you have set yours high on the list so the bar wont go hidden, dunno.

Anyways, would there be anyway to fix this ? Or do some coop with Hoft to make it compatible?
I'll give it an install and see what's what.
While I see what you mean, I already draw The Elder Bar in the background layer, so I'm not sure how I could possibly make it any lower.

My guess is that Hoft's addon also draws on this layer and loads first and therefore it is lower. Just a guess mind you. I'll try a couple of things and see if it makes a difference.

2) When only displaying the shortest time, if one of the timers for a research slot is empty (not researching), then the gadget shows the slot with an actively researching timer. (ie: If I have two slots in blacksmithing, and one slot has 1d of researching left, and the other slot is available/free, the gadget shows 1d ). Technically the shortest timer at that point would be the slot which is at 0, the free one.

Which brings in a feature request for this gadget. It would be nice if when any research slot is free for a craft, you could have it use the Pulse gadget feature. Unless of course there is nothing left to research for that craft.

I'll investigate the whole pulsing thing.

You're probably not using Hoft's Bandit UI yourself ?

In his addon he has a DPS meter.

The problem is that I would love to have that display over the Elder Bar but it goes behind your addon. I would imagine it would have something to do with layer depth and you have set yours high on the list so the bar wont go hidden, dunno.

Anyways, would there be anyway to fix this ? Or do some coop with Hoft to make it compatible?

Excellent work Eldrni. Great progress with this add on.

Couple bugs I've run into among the new features.

1) For crafts which have no research ongoing it is showing 115 days, rather than being blank.

My options for that are set to.
Display Text: On
Display Format: Simple
Only show timers while researching : Off
Only show shortest timer: On
Show all slots: Off

Hi, he has not researched anything but he is levelling the crafting skills towards 50. I also have a few characters at various champion levels and it is the same on them.

I also noticed odd behaviour with the 'only show shortest timer' setting. The character has not previously researched anything and is not currently researching anything. But if I set 'only show shortest timer' to ON, the timer shows as 115 days.
I was about to freak out for a moment, but before I do, can you check one setting for me? Check to make sure that the gadgets are locked. If they are not locked, then any gadget you've selected will be displayed so that you can move them around. Once you lock the gadgets, the ones that are meant to be hidden, will be.

As for the 115 days, I'll have to check on that.

The character shown below is not researching anything so the research timers should auto hide, but aren't.

Thief Tools Request

I have replaced Wykkid with this, it is so much nicer.

But I also run the Thief Tools toolbar, is it possible to incorporate more functionality from that so I can retire that addon too? Particularly the total value of the stolen loot.
