An in-combat complement to the Quickslot Radial Menu
  • Each Profile contains five custom Presets of up to eight equipped Slots.
  • One Profile for each of your characters.
  • And one for an Account-wide configuration you can access from any of your characters.
  • All Settings are saved after each session and restored at login.
And I totally approve Miss Bizz YouTube video about GQSB .. (a bit outdated but cute enough)


1. LAYOUT OPTIONS
  • You can drag an Unlocked-UI corner to visualize from one up to 8 Quick Bar Slot buttons

There should be no piled up folders such as GreymindQuickSlotBar\GreymindQuickSlotBar

Well, I did my homework and, once again, played the guessing game all day...

Conclusion, it seems I could solve the added HOTBAR_CATEGORY_QUICKSLOT_WHEEL param issue with a bunch of custom functions:

...It looks like this is the last detail to be solved to make it work for both API 101033 and 101034
I added a a new debugging slash command to do that:

Attention for quickslot related or weapon bar / action button related addons
PTS API101034 - "High Isle"
All kind of GetSlot* functions for the action- and quickslots have changed their parameters and need a 2nd parameter HOTBAR_CATEGORY_* now to detect the correct abilityId, itemLink, etc.

e.g. GetSlotBoundId(slotNr, HOTBAR_CATEGORY_*) where the hotbar category of the default quickslots would be HOTBAR_CATEGORY_QUICKSLOT_WHEEL and the one for weapon bar 1 would be HOTBAR_CATEGORY_PRIMARY
GetSlotTexure, GetSlotItemLink, GetSlotName, ...

As the parameter HOTBARCategory was "inserted" as 2nd param (if the current 2nd, 3rd, etc params could be nil after the 1st) it might be that your functions have wrong parameters passed in now, so check you code please! Else your passed in variables at param 2 might be a number and define any of the HOTBAR_CATEGORY_* constants "by accident" so that the functions work but provide wrong results!


Also important:
The variable ACTION_BAR_FIRST_UTILITY_BAR_SLOT is not existing anymore.
The quickslots actionBar slot is 1 now and not 8 (ACTION_BAR_UTILITY_BAR_SIZE) anymore as it seems!

Yes, the Reticle show policy is just doing its job as required when the game hides the character aim pointer.
I did not check yet for the exact context you describe and it could be that another combination would better fit with your expectations...
I'll have to look to see if there could be some appropriate state that could be added to the current customized options:

In the meantime, as a workaround, could you try using keybindings for Bar Visibility FORCE and Bar Visibility BLOCKED so you can show or hide those buttons precisely according to your needs, no matter what the current show policy could be set to at the moment.

I am new with your quick slot bar and it works fine except:

As soon I activate "Mouse View", which is necessary to move the mouse cursor over the buttons, the bar disappears. I am using "Recticle" and the description says "Visible when Reticle is showing (i.e. no interface-menu on screen). This works so far, e.g. when I open the "group finder", the bar disappears correctly.
I am using Bandits as UI.

Make sure you don't loose your custom settings by making a backup of all your settings by saving a copy of this file:
  • %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\SavedVariables\GreymindQuickSlotBar.lua
this file is re-written by the game every time you logout a character!
...meaning: you should override it with your backup to restore your fallback snapshot only after a logout.



Enabling Account-wide settings:
Everything is in the name, it's nothing more that a collection of settings parameters available from every Character.

You can play with it but it's more useful as a template than a setup that works well only with the last Character using it.
As such, any bag-dependent item may be valid for some but not for others as long as your backpack should contain all selected items for the 5 Presets P1-P5 to be equipped on activation.

Beside the obvious loading of those Preset layout and content saved by those Account-wide and Character settings, you can play with the auto-cloning feature when you switch to a "cleared" preset as detailed in a previous post bellow.

You should not expect anything more than this cloning to happen when a Preset is "somehow" activated.

This cloning logic is at work when switching from one preset to another, be it between P1-P5 of the current Settings or between Character current Preset to/from Account-wide current Preset.
After you take care of saving a backup copy of the SavedVariable file, you must experiment by yourself to get an idea of what you can do and what it means to equip items that are not available from all you Characters backpack.

Well, mostly none of these happen as clearly as stated here.
What does happen is the Preset load and equip attempt triggered by this action.
Also, the cloning logic into "cleared" destination Preset (unpinned-layout) and/or (reset/all empty slots).
No Preset will be affected that are neither empty or unpinned, meaning you won't lose any of your tuning. The only unexpected results you may end up with would be extra cloned Preset you can easily clear with a click on GQSB ❎ Defaults reset button.

What's also interesting to know is that it's when you leave a Preset that the result of what happened to it in the process will be saved.
Be it either a cloning, layout or QSB Ring item selection.

By far the biggest headache I have when setting up a new character is this addon! It's amazing but I always have to set it up manually which takes forever and some settings don't stay put!

So, how exactly do I enable account-wide settings?

Do I click 'Account-wide Settings' on a character I'm happy with (does that make all the others the same settings OR do I click Account-wide Settings on the new character to adopt other character's settings?

I don't want to experiment and risk breaking every setting I have! Thanks in advance

2. As for the location and content issues:
I have to make sure that you got a good grasp of how Lock on screen and Auto-Clone previous-to-empty PRESET have to do with what happens when switching Preset.
And these clonings also occur when switching between Character and Account-wide settings as well. These are the means to copy some pre-defined LAYOUT and/or CONTENT from one context to another in order to avoid having to make the same adjustments more than once.

Account-wide settings are to be used more as some means to define some templates to start with.
These can be used when switching back to a Character preset you may have selected and reset in order to clone a prepared configuration into with this sequence:
  1. Reset Character Preset (layout and/or content)
  2. Set Account-wide ON
  3. select Preset to clone
  4. Set Account-wide OFF
1 - An Unpinned Character Preset (with a red pin)
will get its layout from the one you have selected when switching Account-wide form ON to OFF.

2 - An Empty Character Preset (no items equipped)
will get its items-content cloned from this template (if you have them in your Character bag).

If all this is clear, we have some issues I can't reproduce myself...

It doesn't store the bar's location nor does it keep the contents any more. The only thing that still remains are the key bindings.

So, I fill my quickslots: purple health potion (was already there and stays there), stamina potion & food (both are removed), on the left side I have the smuggler assist for fending stolen loot & scry eye (both are also removed). I move the bar to the left of my bottom bar (difficult as that bar is not visible) after making the same size (50 as I have a 4K monitor with bigger interface). It goes back to a location above my mini-map in the bottom-right corner. (And yes, I do use pChat until rChat is fixed)

I port and everything resets to probably to the first use. Also I noticed that if I move the bar partly under a window, it is nearly impossible to move it any more. Is it possible to auto-detect the bottom bar's location, it's scale and put the default location & scale left of it?

I also want account wide settings but without the bar contents included.

Update:
I d/l the latest GiT version, reloadui and logged out/in and the bar was still there filled and all.

Is it possible to put the lock pin on both sides or always have it as the most front item? I now moved it to the right side of my bottom bar, because blindly moving the bar will put it under the chat window.

Too soon I was happy. It returned to the old location empty again...

So this is what I have to say:

With these more complicated addons, you gradually improve usage by learning different aspects of the addon. Just like you have made a start with a pvp and keep preset. Maybe you will add a emote set at some point. The point is, by using the addon, we gradually start to understand the importance of various features and why they are useful. As you do, you get more and more sophisticated with it.

When I think of how much more sophisticated my use of FCO Itemsaver combined with other addons like ItemTrig has become, it is amazing what you can do. But at first, I had very little understanding of that addon.

So although the addons gain complexity over time, our usage can start with a basic understanding and advance over time too. You don't need to understand all of it to get started.

I actually try to go through my addons ever so often to reconfigure them. That is when I pick up on new updated features but also learn a bit more about the addons.

This kind of consideration is always worth when having to decide whether to favor onboarding or only the dedicated audience.
I'm always contemplating the latter, with little attention about first time use perception.
Effective situational awareness never comes cheap, we all know what part the training phase represents while developing any kind of great skills.

If mastership is hard to acquire, it only means we have many ways to make mistakes and that we all are very good at making those.
The counterpart would be simple and sloppy behavior anybody is capable of out of the bat ... i.e. campfire, guitar, (E, A, D)
As to why some are ready to spend a good deal of their playtime at doing things a monkey would do best is certainly not my concern.

Inspiration note:
And when those monkeys would post something here, I'm ready for the challenge and build a dedicated version for them with facial recognition as an input device. That's because not only they are a more joyful race than we are but also they would have gone through the semantics-symbolism-writing learning curve all of us take for granted, only to be able to whine online.
Didn't consider the emote usage of the addon because I made and android app that can hold any number of them with "SendInput" through Wifi to my desktop. But it strikes me as a cool™ use case! ...
