An in-combat complement to the Quickslot Radial Menu
  • Each Profile contains five custom Presets of up to eight equipped Slots.
  • One Profile for each of your characters.
  • And one for an Account-wide configuration you can access from any of your characters.
  • All Settings are saved after each session and restored at login.
And I totally approve Miss Bizz YouTube video about GQSB .. (a bit outdated but cute enough)


1. LAYOUT OPTIONS
  • You can drag an Unlocked-UI corner to visualize from one up to 8 Quick Bar Slot buttons
  • 1x8, 8x1, 2x3, .. Row x Col .. (8 cells max)

When you deploy a master zip from GitHub, the result should be a single folder
named after the Addon's name, under your live/Addons/ folder.


There should be no piled up folders such as GreymindQuickSlotBar/GreymindQuickSlotBar

I don't know who named that damn thing "Quick Slot" but there is NOTHING quick about it.

Let me explain something you may not be aware of, this addon has opened a whole section of the game that I previously couldn't use. I had a stroke a few years ago and I now only have active use of my off-hand.. so I have to play the game 1 handed. So using the 'quick' slot was pretty much 1 item because I can't hold the button on the keyboard AND click on it with the mouse... takes 2 hands you see.

Your addon made using the quick slot into a functional feature I can now use all the functions of.. I know I've got a limited fan base as a disabled user, but it is one of the most convenient addons for gameplay that meets my needs perfectly.

Empty Quickslots

I've noticed that often I deplete an item in a particular quickslot, however, the icon still shows in the quickbar. Would it be possible to remove the icon for items where the quantity is 0? If not, please allow us to set the red indicator warning at 0 (currently the minimum is 1). The red keybind text is nice, but I believe this is only if that slot is currently selected. Thanks.

A peek view on my proposed version


GreymindQuickSlotBar_ivanwfr_140515.zip

This zip contains a lua file to temporarily replace the 2.0 version so you can make up your mind about what is best for you and make some remarks. I'm ready for any changes we can agree on so we can toy with any suggestion you may have.

update 2: 18h03 - Deleted now unused "Smart Visual Cue" Settings entry
update 3: 18h50 - Corrected buttons order out of sync with wheel-to-bar mapping change (my bad)
update 4: 140514 - Solved some more issues (transparency, geometry, reset,...)
update 5: 140515 - Revamped settings:
- More important choices come first (So you don't have to .... use the scrollbar every time).
- Using Choice-List when possible to combine some settings without adding another bunch of separate options.
- An attempt to satisfy Thaladar request about Visual cue policy: Alert Quantity = 0 and Hide consumed items.

- Added the "Disable Default Quick Slot" I zapped from v2.0.

And I have a hard time editing this post with Chrome as it does not go well along with this forums BBCode!
Opera does!

Some ideas for what to do next:
- An option to auto-select next non-enpty slot when current one just got depleted

On moving niche settings to the bottom:
I agree on moving certain niche settings to the bottom. Will do this in v2.1!

Nice to see someone has something to say dominoid. We seem to have many silent people on these forums and that's not helping much when you're ready to propose something.

On my part I'm definitely against option in order to satisfy everyone and the others. Settings menus are best when kept to a minimum clutter.

Any reasonable solution that would help at turning this wheel into a bar has to be THE good one, the one the author will choose. If we had more, that would be like a card game with more than one rule... confusion and more bugs guaranteed.
The one remark I have, going your way, is about why I suggested to force ShowOnSettingsChange() as soon as you start dragging items around the Quick Slot Wheel, so you can see where it will show up while you are arranging your layout.

Love the add-on but my OCD is killing me . . . if I may be so brave as to make a recommendation.

First I suspect ESO will have a long life in some form and that this add-on will continue to thrive. With that in mind, I know that ZOS has Quick Slot 1 (technically 9 in code) starting at Southeast (think of a compass) and working its way counterclockwise from there. But it would naturally make sense to start at "North" and work clockwise. This "anomoally" can be eaily solved by code as my OCD had me alter your code similar to the following (going from memory):

Of course the visual representation doesn't match but I currently hide the icons. So making this a global change also requires that the icons change their representation. I haven't looked at that part of your code to see how easy that is to change yet.

I think this change, IMHO, would really help new players become accustomed to the 1-8 layout - not that becoming accustomed to it in its current form is overly taxing.

This of course adds one new "problem" and that is existing players. There are two solutions. The first is to make a one time change to the new layout with a warning for existing users. The second is to branch the code with a new settings option for the "classic" layout and the "new" layout. New users would automatically have the setting set for the new layout, while existing users would automatically have the setting set at "classic" and wouldn't see any change.

No reason to argue about that as the only counterpart is one parameter less in the Settings menu.

Your point got a solution in the version I'm about to send you today (as I took the time to describe it in my issues tracking post below):
. Even if calling Refresh() is not an issue (...) the problem is rather about to decide if a currently hidden window should be displayed or not due to the occurrence a random event (yes it's random, believe me).
. Refresh() does not know the reason why it has been called as it has no "what to do flag" as a parameter (and that's a good thing!). But! the caller should know better, that's where something was missing...
. Ths solution was simply about keeping track of the "quick-slotted-items" overall quantities so that we can avoid showing the UI when nothing has changed after each call to our bag-changed handler.

I agree and that's why I did not send a version as long as I had any issue about it. As with the previous point, I nailed the base-background transparency glitch only in my current version.

Update! v2.0!

Hey everyone. Another bunch of updates as we improve the overall product user experience!

v2.0
- Added color indicator for quantity label and key bind label if item quantity is 0.
- Prevent key labels showing 0 on empty slots.
- Fixed and improved auto-hide behavior. Can now use and click in "mouse mode" if not in UI menus or conversation.
- Revamped settings menu with subheaders, a dash of color and sliders for numeric inputs.
- Added feature and setting to disable default quick slot action button provided by the game.
- Added feature and setting to control the opacity/translucency of slot items that are not currently selected.

As always, please send in feedback, feature requests and bug reports!

Thanks Ivan. I've built on some of the changes/ideas you had in your v1.9+ when I downloaded it.

On font slider:
Didn't make it to 2.0. This is surely needed for bigger slot sizes, so apologies. Will push it in with v2.1

On removing "smart visual cues mode" setting:
I'd rather not remove settings even if they seem trivial. I've had many PMs regarding niche uses for various settings, so as long as it doesn't hinder future development, I'd like to keep them alive and supported.

On showing the bar when hotkey is pressed if it is hidden:
I agree! It didn't make it to v2.0, but is certainly a feature slotted for v2.1.

On inventory item change:
The event is necessary I believe, although we can see if the item affected is a quick slot item as you suggest. The calls to Refresh() are cheap, but I welcome the reduction in unnecessary calls!

On transparency issue:
Have to take another look at this. There are so many permutations and combinations by now for the settings, makes every full test very time consuming!

On size behavior changes:
I've not fully updated them due to limited testing time. Should make it to v2.1.

Proposed WIP based on v1.9
  • Sensible Show/Hide behavior (Manual Override + InCombat + Menus + QuickSlot Wheel)
  • Settings for "Not Selected Buttons" Opacity
  • Showing off with colors in the Settings menu (so we can spot the addon more easily)
  • Colors-themed setting entries (Show Lock Key Bindings Button Visual Cue)
  • Depleted slot quantity 0 in red
  • Warning and Error Quantities are capped by each other so they can't overlap:
    ...sliders won't move further when dragged to a point where (Error >= Warning)
  • Replaced text fields with sliders for numbers (Button size, opacity and quantities)
  • Buttons layout does not change when Button Size is modified in the Settings panel
  • Label: Font size slider
  • Issue solved - only a quick-bar-slotted-inventory-item quantity change justify an UI update or redisplay, not when you sell or buy any unslotted item from or to your bag.
  • Issue solved - Showing "In Combat Only" should still result in displaying the bar when you use one of the keybinds.
    Rationale for this behaviour: When you are NOT in combat AND you CLICK ONE OF THOSE KEYS, it means you are interested in some bar items INFORMATION. Nothing should get in the way that could result in not displaying the bar. Still, as soon as you move your character, it means you're done and the "In Combat Only" constraint should apply and hide the bar as requested.
  • Issue solved - Some part of "Not Selected Buttons" transparency keeps dark, no matter what:
    Reference to an accessory base background texture elevated to the level of a first class dynamic parameter which opacity could then be handled correctly.
  • Quantity visual cues border :
    • red border for items below error level
    • yellow border for items below warning level
    • +++ no border items above warning level ... having "Smart Visual Cue" turning obsolete if everyone agree ...?
    • +++ no border for empty slot
    • +++ white border for a SELECTED empty slot (as that's not a good thing in combat)
There still is room for a todo list :
