by: bsrealm, ivanwfr

Checked with Update 41 Infinite Archive (9.3.5) (API 101041)
...some beta update could be in the Comments section
...last version always on GitHub

An in-combat complement to the Quickslot Radial Menu
  • Each Profile contains five custom Presets of up to eight equipped Slots.
  • One Profile for each of your characters.
  • And one for an Account-wide configuration you can access from any of your characters.
  • All Settings are saved after each session and restored at login.
And I totally approve Miss Bizz YouTube video about GQSB .. (a bit outdated but cute enough)

1. LAYOUT OPTIONS
  • You can drag an Unlocked-UI corner to visualize from one up to 8 Quick Bar Slot buttons

  • Activate Account-wide or Character's profile
  • In-combat delayed Preset swap (at the end of a fight)
  • Static Preset (changes won't be saved - so you can make a mess and restore anytime , possibly just at the
    end of a fight)

9. Pre-release on GitHub
Some corrections could be underway and, until next release, some In-Progress
version could be accessible on GitHub.

When you deploy a master zip from GitHub, the result should be a single folder
named after the Addon's name, under your live\Addons\ folder.

There should be no piled up folders such as GreymindQuickSlotBar\GreymindQuickSlotBar

Like so on Windows:

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns\GreymindQuickSlotBar

you can try an copy-paste this line in File-Explorer

- check_QSB_BAG_BACKPACK_slotId_to_check:

Re: Re: Re: Making any changes

This is more observation than advice, so don't take this as me talking down to you. I just think it is kind of neat how by using addons we get more sophisticated at their use. Your discussion made me think about it.
So this is what I have to say:

With these more complicated addons, you gradually improve usage by learning different aspects of the addon. Just like you have made a start with a pvp and keep preset. Maybe you will add a emote set at some point. The point is, by using the addon, we gradually start to understand the importance of various features and why they are useful. As you do, you get more and more sophisticated with it.

When I think of how much more sophisticated my use of FCO Itemsaver combined with other addons like ItemTrig has become, it is amazing what you can do. But at first, I had very little understanding of that addon.

So although the addons gain complexity over time, our usage can start with a basic understanding and advance over time too. You don't need to understand all of it to get started.

I actually try to go through my addons ever so often to reconfigure them. That is when I pick up on new updated features but also learn a bit more about the addons.

But it could be I've just forgotten that I could have said no, get lost to all the requests for new features.
And, as a side effect, I would have spared hundreds of hours spent at making new bugs and having to track them down.
And sometime I wish I had!

And I'm sure you can guess what I could add, sarcastically, or not but, as I can't resist, here are some that come to mind:

A few generations earlier, people had to use a bucket to get water from a well instead of just turning their sink tap.
Also, they used to ditch their junk in the middle of the street.
Then, some of our ancestors could not resist some urge to make those less simple. those are the one to blame.

I live in France, where medias have adopted a novlang bias that forbids the usage of the word "difficult".
Now, if you want to look cool enough, you have to say "complicated" instead.
From where I stand, it means that those things that used to be qualified as impossible before are blessed with a solution in our new era.
Conclusion, reality is something from the past that we won't depend on anymore.

While trying to fancy a plane cockpit with only a joystick and an on-off switch or, even better, some take-me-there buttons, I'm pretty sure this will happen someday but I'm also pretty sure this simple interface will hide an magically complicated mess under the hood!
I got a total laugh out of that idea of a simple plane, thinking of all the people who have had GPS nav programs take them to some very odd places!

Throwing garbage somewhere besides the ditch is a good thing tho! But I certainly get your point.

Maybe I just get overwhelmed, I run about 35 addons, and sometimes I really want autopilot, knowing full well that autopilot doesn't really exist in motorhomes but some people have gotten up to make a sandwich, and others, thinking cruise control solves everything. found that it doesn't work on ice. So there are no panaceas!

I just have to take the time, and I didn't want to. But I did get to set up preset 2 for pvp and keep preset one for questing, without having one try to clone the other and was VERY happy! Thanks for all your time.

v2.6.8 released on 220223
- Checked with Update 33 Deadlands (7.2.10): (API 101033)
1 - Added ChatMute and ChatWarned flags to warn at most once with "You need a refill"
2 - LibDebugLogger (if installed) to save logs in SavedVariables\LibDebugLogger.lua
(The last released version seems to solve the items equipment issue some are having)

Re: Making any changes

And so I I will answer myself, and let you know that yes, downloading the one from GitHub has solved my problems. Perhaps it should be on esoui? I don't know how that stuff works, but I'm glad I read a few of these and tried that. Just so you don't go to the trouble of trying to troubleshoot this because your fix mentioned to others worked.

Making any changes

Oddly I don't seem to be able to make an original post, only a reply. But I don't really want to reply. I am wondering (and this is a comment) if we are just trying to get too fancy, and it's making the original, basic intent too complicated or convoluted, like what Microsoft did with Word until it became unusable.

I am having everything revert, and changing settings makes it worse. Since last update on ESOUI. I grabbed the one on Github and will do something there, but geez. I don't need bells and whistles and maybe this and add that. I just want it to work. Without so much fuss.

Simplify, simplify, and if you really must have bells and whistles, make a bells and whistles option. I just want the upgrade from using the stupid way Zos set it up, so I can see what my slots have in them, change them, even a preset or 2 is good. But once you go beyond that, and start making it acct wide (that includes more than one account?!!) it gets insane. I have 2 accounts and chars on both servers. Nothing is working as of right now. I change something, and zoom, the first time I interact or even shop, everything is back the way it was before. I add pvp stuff, (cyro) and use it once. Then they're gone.

I think the real problem is an over complication of what didn't need to be so complicated. I'll try the other but you should yank that thing off ESOUI, based on the comments I'm seeing, and put something up that's ready for prime time. And keep it simple.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

I think I misunderstood what you were saying about PChat and my reply below is irrelevant.

Now, I think you were only talking about the misleading GQSB chatter in the chat, suggesting a PChat issue, right?

A very good way to relate two addons together is to put a bug somewhere that could punch a leak from one to the other...

I don't recall exactly but there already has been a issue involving PChat a good while ago.

From what I remember about this is that I had to declare my Initialize callback function local (which I forgot to do until then) so that the only one able to call it would have to be named EVENT_MANAGER and come from ZO.

Now, more to the point, I've no idea what to look for but if you can be more specific about the symptoms I will instal PChat and look for some clues.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

As to the saved variables, it would seem so. Read-only would make saving variables difficult
I noticed a problem with another add on but being very overwhelmed on my first day back, it was more obvious to me that the the Quick slot wasn't saving variables then 'why is Pchat yelling at me' It didn't occur to me they were connected.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

Good news!
So, that too can happen as well as everything else, in compliance with Murphy's law. Especially in the vicinity of a machine running Windows, where chaos is at its best.

The suggestion was precious. Had to come from someone who had a chance to experience some random chain of events having something to do with yours.

I gather you had some extra access restriction around your SavedVariables folder where your settings are restored from at login. Good to know this sort of thing can happen!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

It would appear that the issue is resolved and had nothing to the add on at all.
I was given a suggestion to look at my file settings in the documents section and deselect read-only. I, knowing little about computers, have no idea if *I* set it to read only at some point or how it happened, but after doing so, it resolved not only this add on but another that was annoying me
THank you for your time and your assistance!

Re: Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

I am for sure seeing some of the messages you mention. At first I had account wide options off but then tried it on as a test. I didn't do anything with cloning.
I am logging in to look into those options and will report my findings

Re: Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

It may be a matter of Account-wide Settings (versus per-character Profiles Settings), the first Settings panel entry.
This and the auto-cloning of the Profiles layout and content.
You need to make sure to grasp how that works or disable the cloning behavior altogether.
  • Auto-Clone previous-to-empty PRESET
I'm not sure this can explain everything but it looks like it could be.
You should see some chat messages when these at work:
  • EMPTY PRESET: CLONING P1 QUICK SLOT BAR
and
  • P2 is UNLOCKED .. CLONING P1 LAYOUT
Do try all you can while tinkering with Account-wide Settings and cloning options and you may find your way around those issues.
Keep in mind that the cloning is also at work when switching in or out of Account-wide as this is a way to copy both layout and content to (or from) Per-Character Settings.
In all cases, don't hesitate to comment about the results here, that can only be helpful at finding a way to clarify the process and find a better way to organize the settings options to make things easier to grasp.

Re: Re: moving the quickbar around the screen

I added the new version but I still can't get it to stay put nor keep the opacitiy settings when I log. I just want to move it to another part of the screen and I know I was able to do so before, so I feel like maybe I'm just doing something wrong? I did a fresh install with the new copy.

You have to follow the instruction from paragraph "9. Pre-release on GitHub" on "Addon Info." tab.

If it happens to work, I will finally be able to release this version after a positive feedback.

Then I could even label it as being compatible with blondshipness with a cute badge.
