An in-combat complement to the Quickslot Radial Menu
  • Each Profile contains five custom Presets of up to eight equipped Slots.
  • One Profile for each of your characters.
  • And one for an Account-wide configuration you can access from any of your characters.
  • All Settings are saved after each session and restored at login.
And I totally approve Miss Bizz YouTube video about GQSB .. (a bit outdated but cute enough)


1. LAYOUT OPTIONS
  • You can drag an Unlocked-UI corner to visualize from one up to 8 Quick Bar Slot buttons

There should be no piled up folders such as GreymindQuickSlotBar\GreymindQuickSlotBar

  • Disable Default Quick Slot Settings option is more responsive to UI transitions.
  • ...and when this option is OFF, this Add-On will do neither Show nor Hide this button and let the game or any other Add-On in charge with no interference.

That too, and I can't say RTFM as there is none
In fact this is the feature I was looking for when I sent my first contribution to bsrealm. Having 8 slots is better than having less only if you do use them all ,but if like I do, you are used to playing with 6 buffs or cool-downs only in other mmos, it could be more of a distraction. This and the grid layout were missing for me and any suggestion you may have to improve further would be worth discussing.

That goes very well along with my own use of this addon in game. I really believe that time is the main ingredient. When you start working with a new tool, expecting a natural response like muscle memory for touch-typing on a keyboard will be challenging. Still there are ways easier than others for the same goal. The main point here is about the amount of work involved or how much time it would take that could be better spent than on reimplementing something that could be at most a tad better (kind of diminishing return software cap )

It's not the first time I fail to describe what I mean about how to take advantage of the game's tooltip features combined with keybinding. Here is what I get from keeping the pointer over the Quick Slot Action icon and inspecting any of the 8 items (I just had to hit one key to go from on snapshot to the next):

Just came to mind: beware of the wheel numbering ! That has not been emphasized enough but I implemented a suggestion from dominoid a few pages behind about a clockwise re-numbering that is not consistent anymore with the presentation page... sorry.
  • slot#1 is 12o'clock on the wheel
  • going clockwise up to #8

I don't know what new features bsrealm is about to add to this extension, but speaking for myself only, I am ready to look into any kind of useful lua scripting that would fit in with these points:
  • It is on the spot of some real user needs, so as to keep the subject hot enough for some time. That may help to decide whether I should keep up the hard work or just let go at the first wtf'ish comment.
  • It has to deserve its Add-On designation, bringing some substantial missing feature.
  • It can be the substance for a personal(*), quite challenging and controversial motivation.
Both of what you are looking for are an issue with my second point. As those features are already addressed by the game's Quick Slot Action icon. I'm pretty sure you have something in mind that could further describe what you think is missing. My observation shows that game's standard display already allows a good combination for:
  • Tooltip access: we have quite effective display when hovering the pointer over the standard Quick Slot Action icon and swapping the current selected item by means of keybindings.
  • Item cooldown is already taken care of by the standard circling animation.

As a veteran programmer, I'm not getting any kind of satisfaction anymore out of simple (or even complicated) tricks that work and may wow an audience, I had my share of that stuff. I see LUA as a means for a peek view in the future of next generation's computer world (think Apple's multi-touch or Occulus-VR). My point is about how all this won't work with "pretty good programming", it simply has to be perfect (or as close as possible) to reach something believable, unlike current ESO facial animation for an illustration of what I mean.
This is my real challenge, the most significant part of which is a deep study of the "Programming in Lua" bible. Currently, the outcome of this got me through difficulties while trying to share with other addon authors. It looks like most of them are not as obsessive as I am at seeking for perfection. When I insist on not letting go of something I think could be solved or improved, it turns out I'm rude or impolite. But that wont change anything to my goals, those who take offense are proud of and quite satisfied with what they have delivered anyway. I'll keep looking...

Thanks for the continued updates! Appreciate the dedication to this add-on.

2 Questions:
1. Is the tooltip on mouseover still on the ToDo list? It sure would be nice to see the item description/stats by hovering over the quickslot bar slots.
2. Is there anyway to add an item cooldown? Specifically potions, which I'm guessing many people use this for.

You did it too fast , I just pushed a new one a few minutes ago (...release not changed for this one : GreymindQuickSlotBar.v2.0.3.zip dated 19:03 CET inside, less that 30mn after the previous release).
But... this should only be a temporary solution as it works as a ON / OFF choice and it should be 3-ways!
It's not to a particular addon to decide whether this action button should be either visible or hidden. What is missing is a "DO NOT TOUCH THAT" option so that other addons could take control would the user want it that way... just some more for the todo list...

Disable Default Quick Slot issue

What I could see so far is that the "Disable Default Quick Slot" option is carried out by the UI "Refresh" function which is there to rebuild the addon UI. As common sense would suggest, this is not a good idea.
- What I can see is that it does work but not immediately after the events you mentioned. If you do anything that would justify some update to the UI, the Refresh function will do the job.

So, I am going to stick this option to the occurrence every Reticle on-off events so that your setting will be applied at first call.
- When I'm done, I'll push a new v2.0.3 and report here, then you tell me if that will do.

I just pushed version 2.0.2 early, in an attempt to dissuade fancy-font-allergics from buzzing around. I would have preferred I had a chance to solve the LibAddonMenu issue I'm working on - The one that keeps Preset transition from working as it should, in sync with the 6 Settings menu Dropdown controls, even after you have used them once.

All these versions should be beta releases but I also know from experience that keeping them confidential like those from my previous posts is a good way to never get any users feedback.

Making them official does boost the process but it would be best to avoid releasing untested and unapproved code. Having my nose stuck too deep in this code makes me the wrong tester. But, as I have no other choice, you are quite surely going to get a bunch of bugs to deal with.
