Welcome to The Questing Guide (TQG)!

ESO's story content keeps expanding, and with each new Chapter comes a new tutorial and beginner experience. It doesn't always do the best job of introducing you to past content however, and that's where TQG comes in. Featuring an easy-to-use interface, simply set up a keybind in CONTROLS, and you're good to go. Press to open, press to close. It's that simple! (Or alternatively use the slash command /tqg to toggle the menu open/closed)

At the moment there are three primary tabs as you can see in the screenshots:
  1. Overview
  2. Classic Stories
  3. DLC and Chapter Stories
  4. Group Content (Dungeons, Trials, and Arenas)
Features
A list of quests compiled from both Zenimax's Zone Guide and LibUespQuestData, you'll find each major storyline in the game listed in chronological order, (defaulting to order of content release), where you can follow along or even check off your list you may have left uncompleted years ago.

Each major category, (Aldmeri Dominion, Fighters Guild, Daedric War, etc.), is preceded by a number indicating its overall place in the story. Within each major category is a subcategory where each zone or DLC is listed according to its place within the major category arc. For example;

(1) Aldermeri Dominion
(1.00) Khenarthi's Roost
(1.10) Auridon

Embedded in the GUI interface is a button that ties directly to the Zone Story function allowing you to instantly zoom to your current place in that zone. That means even if you've finished every major quest in the zone, you'll be directed to Points-of-Interest you have yet to complete, (maybe directly to side-quests in a far future update), or other objectives left in the region.

Now works in German, French, and Russian clients. Should also support Japanese and Simplified Chinese. Quest Names and Zone Descriptions are translated, Completed Quest Descriptions and the Overview page are not all done, yet. Let me know if you'd like to help, even just with translating the Overview page.

Future Ideas
– Add a button similar to the one for Zone Stories for accepting Dungeon Quests, where the requisite DLC has been purchased by the user.
– Add an "Easter Eggs" type of section for each major arc, detailing hidden stories or recurring characters.

new error started with Flames of Ambition

Since today's launch of Flames of Ambition I've begun getting the following error upon log-in:

Hi there!

So it guides you to quest givers that are part of major arcs. It can also function just as a "checklist", as it'll automatically determine which ones you've done and haven't done and update accordingly. I don't have location data inputted for all of the quests in the Guide, but most of them should be there. It doesn't include all side quests, and for the foreseeable future it won't. I've been asked about that a couple times but ultimately decided against it as there are other AddOns that cover them well-enough and for me to acquire the data to catch up to that would be a larger task when the focus of this AddOn from the beginning has been to focus on the "major" stories throughout the game.

My wife and I downloaded this addon in the hopes of being guided along a path of quests, to experience the story of ESO. We had Zygor ESO Leveing Guide long ago and it is now no longer supported. We haven't really played all that much.

Just so that I'm understanding the nature of this addon - does it guide us along a path or to quest givers? We're trying to figure it out in-game is all.

Thank you very much! These kinds of messages always encourage me to keep working on these things and I love that it's helping you out.
Also I appreciate the well-wishes (definitely doing my best to look after myself, hope you are too). And I love the diversity in drink options.

Anyway, this all reminds me that I should see if I can make time to hop on PTS to add the new dungeon quests. Gotta build out a section for the Gates of Oblivion Year-Long Story.

definitely helping a lot of folks power through main zone stories like pros, countless times ive searched for something like this but nothing focuses on the STORY of the zone like this one does. gotta say i love the little synopsis you get after completing an objective or finishing a quest then leading into another step in the story. helps out the ultra casual player, such as myself, that cant keep track of the story proper

anyways, just wanted to drop by and say your work is appreciated in these trying times and i hope you're taking care of yourself. would buy you a coffee/tea/beer if i could

Yep! Pretty much. Don't know if I can tie into the Crown Store, but it's a tricky proposition 'cause while I want to inform you how to get the next story, it feels weird to specifically direct people to the Crown Store. Even if in the case of the Prologues they're free, I was originally thinking in the context of DLC dungeons and stories.

Apologies for not replying sooner, it's been... well it seems like there've been many hectic weeks this year!
Anyway, yes. If you have the base game you probably started in Morrowind's tutorial (on the island of Vvardenfell), which was actually the first "Chapter". Basically an expansion or large DLC. So my guide is intended to take you back along the original path of content release, which starts with the "Hooded Figure" you'll meet when you reach a capital city (I think it's any capital).

You might've already figured that out, but hey. If you need any more clarification or you figured it out let me know!

How exactly does this work?

So I downloaded the mod, opened it up, and I don't even know what it's referring to. I just finished the tutorial. Am I just not at the story yet? For the record, I only have the base game and Thieves Guild DLC.

EDIT: I think I figured out when the story starts. I'll probably delete this comment if I'm right XD

Fair enough.
To preserve that format you could:
- Also use the dungeon-icons for those dungeons in the bullet points like you just did for the Group-tab to make it consistent, and that way they can stay in the DLC-tab
- Offer a small explanation on the Overview tab as to the change by ZOS towards a yearly format which results in dungeons from those yearly chapters being presented on the DLC-tab, and not the Group-tab


Those bullet point icons for the Group-tab are exactly as I envisioned them, so thanks for that.

And I have to say it's a real pleasure working with you, if you want to call it that, because you're really open and receptive to feedback.


Edit: the Group-tab seems to have an issue with the button. The button is always empty, even if I switch between instances I've already done or still have to do.
1) Regarding dungeon icons for the Year-Story DLC dungeons, makes sense. I'll add it to the "to-do" list. Same for the explanation in the Overview tab. It's probably worth mentioning!

2) Hey, it's great to have constructive feedback. Sometimes that's really hard to get. I've had a few people be really helpful and it's always great. The way I figure it; as long as the user is aware that I may not do anything tangible with the feedback (I'll read it and give it due consideration) then I'm good with receiving it. If I can't or won't implement it I'll do my best to give some sort of reasoning or general thought-process/design-decision. I also don't expect users to know the intricacies of AddOn development, so I'm happy to elucidate if there's a technical reason I can't or won't do something really difficult or impossible. I've always found it frustrating when I ask a valid question and they get annoyed at me. My basic motto is; "don't hate, educate."

3) The button issue should be fixed! It was somewhat of a quick-fix, so hopefully nothing else broke in the process.

Having the ESO dungeon- or raid-icon in the title of such an instance in the Group-tab is already quite helpful, but I'd also like to see those icons used for the bullet points in each section as e.g. section 4 lists 2 dungeons and 2 raids, but you wouldn't know that without having to click on all 4 entries and looking at each entry's title icon.
I remember thinking about that when I was adding them to the Group section after you first suggested it, but can't recall why I didn't do that. I'll look into it this weekend if I get some time.

EDIT: Done! I added the icons, but rearranged them slightly because I didn't like the look of them at the end of the zone names in the bullet point list. I'll look into the other point as I get time.

Fair enough.
To preserve that format you could:
- Also use the dungeon-icons for those dungeons in the bullet points like you just did for the Group-tab to make it consistent, and that way they can stay in the DLC-tab
- Offer a small explanation on the Overview tab as to the change by ZOS towards a yearly format which results in dungeons from those yearly chapters being presented on the DLC-tab, and not the Group-tab


Those bullet point icons for the Group-tab are exactly as I envisioned them, so thanks for that.

And I have to say it's a real pleasure working with you, if you want to call it that, because you're really open and receptive to feedback.


Edit: the Group-tab seems to have an issue with the button. The button is always empty, even if I switch between instances I've already done or still have to do.

So this one is because of the newer "Year-long Story" format ZOS did for Elsweyr and Skyrim, (Season of the Dragon / Dark Heart of Skyrim). I think I originally set it up with the Yearly stories all being in the one place, before I created the Group tab. If I'm remembering rightly (can't jump in-game at the moment) the heading for that section is named after the Year-long Story (for example; The Season of the Dragon), and so because the dungeons relate to the aforementioned Story, I put them under that category. I do see the point about the Group tab being the "one-stop shop" for dungeons/trials though, so maybe I'll just put them in both, and they'll both tie back to the same quests, so if it marks as complete in one spot, it'll complete in both. I'll think on it!

I appreciate the feedback!
I'll add that it's probably not coming soon though, unfortunately. As much as I'd like the feature, it's not something for which I have the time right now, especially considering to my knowledge there are decent alternative AddOns for side-quests. It's definitely still on the table, but not something that's likely in the near future. I wish you good hunting, though!

Before moving from PS4 to PC, I had been following an OLD guide that includes all the side quests in a zone. I'm now trying to move away from the out of game resources I'd been using and substituting addons to replace that functionality. You mention that as a possible future feature to add later... I just want to say I'd love to see it. (If it's not coming soon, I'll go hunting for another addon to fill that need.)
