ScrySpy  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.25
by: Sharlikran [More]
Thanks to the community

I appreciate all the in game bow emotes and thanks. However, so you do not think I am being rude, I only have whisper, group and guild chat enabled. If anyone has tried to say a kind and subtle thank you I didn't see it. You are welcome. If you see me in game on the NA server and wish to say thanks you can whisper me if you like instead. Although I do reload my UI over and over testing changes, so I may not see it. You can try though. Thank you all for using the mod.

I Scry with my little eye...

ScrySpy is a mod I created for tracking Dig Locations similar to how HarvestMap tracks Harvest nodes. If you are satisfied with your elite scrying skills then this is not for you.

ScrySpy collects locations you visit. I have included what locations I found to test with. However, it records and draws the locations you find as you use the mod just like HarvestMap.

If you are like me knowing approximately where I have to go is helpful to me so I thought I'd share.

Requires:

LibMapPins - LibMapPins
LibGPS - LibGPS
Lib3D - Lib3D
CustomCompassPins - CustomCompassPins
LibAddonMenu - LibAddonMenu

Credits:

Shinni for his patience while I asked about why pins didn't draw on the map.
Scootworks for helping me learn both LibMapPins and Lib3D. It allowed me to have map pins in 2D and once you are at the Digsite locations a 3D pin.

I would check what the date and time is where you are and make sure a Tardis has not visited your area recently. Then after you do that, check the change log, and after that you might want to reinstall minion and ScrySpy. Something might be wrong with your install. Also make sure you do not manually edit your saved vars file, but check and make sure it isn't set to read only.

You may move slightly when you dig so it will not always be on the site unless you literally stand on it, in the middle of it. ESO really doesn't need things like users need such as how far are they from an object to record the location more accurately. So it's where you are standing when you start digging. The same as how HarvestMap isn't on the exact spot.

There shouldn't be any duplication. ESO doesn't need to determine how far you are from things like a harvest node, NPC, or these dig sites. So I rely on the library to tell me the distance between things. You would have to have a creative way to stand far from the digsite and still activate it. I don't think it's possible but I'll wait till it happens then address it at that time with more testing if someone can show me how to duplicate any creative methods to cause anything like that.
Good to know
For me, i see the pin location is slightly offset from the Excavate location and it is fine really, the pin is at your foot position when you trigger the Excavate.
I would not mind even if its 10 meters away.

On some of the larger areas, i have been round, round, round and round again then given up for the day.

Until I get more pins in these large areas it will always be like this i guess.
It seems I sometimes get more lucky the next day

I was using my mod and testing it more and yesterday I noticed that when I was in Hew's Bane depending on the direction I was facing, I could see 3D map pins. All over the place. Up on a hill off in the distance and through the rocks sometimes.

I am not sure how to approach that yet. Simply because even Harvestmap had some people that were just bored enough taint the locations with fake values. This was the example the user posted for HarvestMap. There is no way currently to detect whether or not the values are in the Polygon. I'm considering it but that's about all I can do for now.

This was the example the user posted for HarvestMap. There is no way currently to detect whether or not the values are in the Polygon. ESO also doesn't allow mod authors access to any data such as all the locations and polygons. So I can't check the node when the polygon isn't showing on the map.

I'm considering it but that's about all I can do for now.

With the new version 1.14 the pins automatically hide now.

After much frustration Scootworks provided me with a solution to draw more then one pin. I was only able to draw the one of them using a template that came with Lib3D.

I know I said last reset of data, but I had to reset it. Shinni had a nice function to return useful values and I thought, yeah I want that. Well he prefers his Z and Y coordinates in a different order because of how the maps are designed. It just makes more sense to him. He is the expert. But unfortunately that meant the data was backwards and pins didn't draw properly. Hopefully I can make an update routine to handle any changes in the future if I have to change the data.

Please enjoy the Beta with the 3D Pin support.

Work on adding support for 3D Pins is not fully functional but I am determined to get it working. I am quite certain it will be accompanied with lots of keyboard banging and expletives but to have the ability to draw the 3D Pins will be worth it.

Because of the preliminary change you will loose your 2D pin data you have already collected and begin to store 2D and 3D pin data. I decided to store more data then needed for now so hopefully I do not need to change the data storage again in the future.

Hopefully the screen shot will help ease the pain of collecting new data. Once the 3D Pins can be drawn your new data should work with update once it is finished.

Thanks for the addon, very appreciated!

btw:
The filters are not coming from AdvancedFilters, but vanilla UI
But there is another nice filter addon by merlight called mer Quickslot filters: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info...otFilters.html
And a patched version: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info...oodpotion.html

And the quickslot usage of this light eye was mentioned in the tutorial as white text at the bottom right after you have finished to talk to Gabriele Benele at the tutorial dig site. You can easily oversee it

My best way to find them is to ride up and down until I hear the sound.

But I think 3D markers like in vvardenfell would be an excellent next step
Go to your inventory, change to the quick slot category, then go to the 5th icon ( might be from Advanced filters) the tools menu, and choose that. Then drag the eye to your quick slot. Activate it to see where to go. However, I hope to have the 3dpins even if I have to beg Shinni to do it.
