JunkBuster  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.91
by: ADH, Atoom
Now compatible with 8.2.0 Firesong!

This addon provides a rule-based system to put items in your junk bag or destroy them

Unlike the other automatic junking addons, JunkBuster allows you to filter items by any combination of the following criteria:
  • Name
  • Item Type
  • (Specialized) Item Type
  • Equipment slot
  • Weapon/Armor type
  • Level
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Trait
  • Actor type (Player or Companion)
  • Item is crafted or not
  • Item is stolen or not
  • Item has a set bonus or not
  • Recipee is known or not

For example, you can set it to only junk the ingredients you loot that have 0g price value, or the normal quality (white) stolen treasures (but not the green ones).

Other Features:
  • The addon can automatically sell junked items to a merchant (not stolen items) or a fence (stolen items) when visiting them
  • You can add exemption rules that save and unjunk any special item that you want skipped by junkBuster
  • You can add rules to DESTROY items upon looting
Warning: Be very careful with the destroy option. Destroyed items CAN NOT be returned.

The screenshots show some sample rules that I use when playing.
There is an extended logging option available which provides the info for every looted item in the chatbox so you can fine-tune or make new junking rules.

Planned future additions:
  • Allow <=, >=, == selections for item quality
  • Add support for FCO Item Saver
  • Allow addon to apply rules to (guild) bank too?

Missing item types?

No idea if there is a technical reason for this omission, but I ran into the following 2 item types that I cannot select as such in Junkbuster, but which you generally always want to sell/junk, they are "Rare Fish" and "Monster Trophy". These just tick an achievement box, there's a lot of them, and they are good for nothing else but selling, so seems to me items like these are the perfect intended target for Junkbuster.

Btw there is a selectable "trophy" item type, which I mistook for the Monster Trophy type, but that started to junk the wrong things.

Also, I already considered and decided against manually adding all existing rare fish and monster trophy's as a text filter

Really happy with the addon for everything else!

The reason is that those two items are crafted. Any crafted items are excempt from junkbuster rules by default. However you can include them in rules by selecting one of the options in the "Crafted" category for a new rule.

Yep, it's next on my list. Will need to find some time to work that out.

New user here, loving the addon...

I'm just really missing these two things:
1 - there might be some command to re-scan the inventory after a rule is created.
2 - When you check the option to auto-sell junk itens, there could be another option to display a confirmation dialog.

That's it for now.
Good work and thank you.

Thanks for that hint, will use it if i create my next char!
Wasn't fishing till now as my first char is only ~lvl 30 right now and there's so much to quest in this game

I've just read that nice comment, which doesn't really appreciate your hard work.

So in short: just registered to thank your for your great addon and work to maintain it .

(If someone has a good rule set for noobs, that would be great - i just junk white armor/weapons/glyphs and trash right now)
One thing I really love about Junkbuster is the text filter. As long as you make sure to spell it exactly as you see it ingame it should catch the item. For example I use it to junk all the different types of rare fish when fishing (of course it does take some time to setup with all the different fish names). I also have it destroy the worthless Fine quality branches, bushes and whatnot.

A good rule of thumb is to add item categories that you would like to keep to the Keep and Unjunk. That will take priority over an unintentional junk or destroy filter match.

Also, personally, I like to destroy, not junk, the white glyphs, since they are only value 9G and each glyph take up a whole slot for itself.

Oh and there is no profile system for alts, but you can rather easily edit the junkbuster.lua file in SavedVariables folder to add to other characters. That really saves a lot of time when making your alts. Just make sure to backup the file first!! (A single mistake in the file from a manual edit will usually mean it will be deleted and replaced with a default file with all you filters gone!).

The fishing containers "wet sacks" are pretty crappy, and only very very VERY rarely contain Kuta (the only actual valuable item found in these containers, but the drop rate seems <1%). One might want to destroy them so you don't have to waste time opening or destroying tons of them when done fishing.

You should always be very careful with the destroy option; this is specifically mentioned in the Addon description and denoted with a visibly red labeled "Warning:". Just saying...

Thanks for your very polite comment.
However I can't help you with your problem with the information you provided. To check how this happened it would help tremendously if you could post a screenshot of the rules from the addons configuration menu.

So the following is just a educated guess: Could it have been that you forgot to select the armor/weapon item type for your destroy rules? If so the addon would totally trash your writ containers as they are normal quality and have no sell value.
Addon was uninstalled instantly after this happened as I couldn't even express the anger I felt so no screenshot. From the comments here I can now only guess that the rules I set got changed for no reason as someone else reports happened to them. I set two rules. Destroy white ARMOR of 0 value and next rule to destroy WEAPON of 0 value. Which I already said but obviously people can't read. And no I didn't forget.
