This addon is a crutch. Use the crutch proudly.

Unlike other alert addons, CrutchAlerts displays almost ALL incoming attacks that are cast on you. It also displays a curated list of casts on other players or the enemy itself that may affect you, as well as very large prominent alerts for especially dangerous or important casts. It's come to contain various other PvE features too.

However, this isn't meant to be a replacement for addons like Code's Combat Alerts or trial-specific addons which all display additional useful information. I think of CrutchAlerts as a gap-filler and also just an interesting tool to see the abilities cast on me out in the world, some of which have interesting names I would never have noticed otherwise.

Disclaimer: Certain features that rely on text detection may only work on English client. Other language support has been added for some parts.


General

General Alerts
- Shows timers for anything that someone (usually enemies) "BEGINs" casting on you, as well as effects that you "GAIN" from enemies. Basically, it contains most targeted attacks.
- Shows timers for certain "BEGIN" or "GAINED" attacks on other people or enemies. Typically these are AOEs that could be dangerous for you. This is whitelist only, you can adjust them in alerts/AbilityData.lua if you want to add/remove something.
- Shows an approximate countdown for when certain bosses will be damageable, such as Pinnacle Factotum and Nahviintaas. English and German clients currently.

Prominent Alerts
- Shows reaaaally big text and sometimes a ding sound for attacks where your action is requested, e.g. blocking the Assembly General Stomp, blocking Shield Charge, dodging Glacial Gash, etc. This is whitelist only, you can adjust them in Prominent.lua if you want to add/remove something.

Vertical Boss Health Bar
- Instead of traditional health bars that go left and right, this features vertical health bars for the boss(es), allowing labels for percentage-based mechanics
- This is a work in progress! Planned features / known issues:
---- Trial and DLC dungeon mechanic thresholds have been added, but not arenas/base game dungeons yet. SoonTM!
---- DLC dungeon thresholds were compiled from online guides and sources, many of which disagree on the exact %s. I want to eventually verify all of them precisely, but this will be a very slow process.
---- More customizable options
---- Center-screen alert text for upcoming thresholds?
---- The upcoming thresholds highlight in yellow based on the health of the healthiest boss. That means some encounters with multiple bosses, such as DSR twins, won't highlight properly when fighting the first boss.
---- Sometimes after wipes or turning on hardmode, the higher health thresholds remain grayed out



Trials

Asylum Sanctorium Features
- In addition to the regular targeted timer for the Defiling Dye Blast, adds options to play a ding sound when the cone is on yourself and/or other people

Cloudrest Features
- In execute with Siroria, shows which side the two flares should go to. This matches the sides designated by RaidNotifier.
- Shows an indicator for Olorime's spears mechanic. Shows a colored icon for 1 revealed spear, grayed out icon for synergized spear, and checkmark for orb dunked.
- Colorizes OdySupportIcons death icons purple if a corpse's shade is still up.

Dreadsail Reef Features
- Shows a prominent alert if you reach too many lightning stacks. The number is adjustable in Settings > Dreadsail Reef
- Shows a prominent alert if you reach too many poison stacks. The number is adjustable in Settings > Dreadsail Reef

Halls of Fabrication Features
- Shows an icon in the world on triplets for a spot outside of Shock Field. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.

Kyne's Aegis Features
- On trash, shows icons on the approximate locations where Exploding Spears (from Raiders) will land. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.
- On trash and Falgravn, shows icons above players targeted by Blood Prison, a second before the bubble even shows up. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.
- On Falgravn, shows icons on the 4 dps stack points for the 2nd floor. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.

Lucent Citadel Features
- Shows a prominent alert if you get Darkness Inflicted
- On Orphic Shattered Shard, shows icons numbering the 8 mirrors. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.
- Shows a timer for the currently held Arcane Knot

Maw of Lorkhaj Features
- On Zhaj'hassa, shows indicator for cleanse pads, and timer for when pad will be available.
- On Twins, shows icons above players' heads corresponding with Lunar and Shadow Aspect. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.

Rockgrove Features
- On Oaxiltso, shows which side to cleanse on, using the same logic as Qcell's Rockgrove Helper

Sunspire Features
- On Lokkestiiz hardmode, shows icons on the ground for beam phase positions, which will only show before pulling and during flight phase. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.
- On Yolnahkriin, shows icons above players who are safe to stack on (do not have Focused Fire debuff) when Focus Fire is cast - mostly a feature for the OT. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.
- On Yolnahkriin, shows icons on the ground for where head and (right) wing stack will be when he lands. You need OdySupportIcons for this to work.


Arenas

Infinite Archive Features
- Automatically marks Fabled enemies with basegame target markers when your reticle passes over them. It may sometimes mark incorrectly if you move too quickly and particularly if an NPC or your group member walks in front, but is otherwise mostly accurate. Enabled by default.
- Automatically marks enemies that can cast Negate Magic, same as above. Disabled by default.

Maelstrom Arena Features
- Shows which stage and round you are on, and extra text to remind about final boss round.
- Shows notifications and sounds if you start taking damage to certain abilities in NORMAL Maelstrom/Dragonstar, to facilitate AFK farming, notifying you if manual intervention is needed.

Vateshran Hollows Features
- Option to display messages for missed adds on veteran difficulty, to aid in scorekeeping. It should be used only if going for score; skipped adds may be inaccurate if you skip entire pulls. The missed adds detection assumes that you do the secret blue side pull before the final blue side pull prior to Iozuzzunth. Disabled by default.


Dungeons

Dungeon Features
- In Shipwright's Regret, suggests a group member to stack on for Soul Bomb on Foreman Bradiggan HM. With OdySupportIcons, also displays an icon above that group member. Enabled by default.


Misc

Miscellaneous Features
- Overrides OdySupportIcon such that icons will not show for players in the opposite realm in Cloudrest, Sunspire, and Rockgrove portals.
- Display NPC subtitles in chat, which can be turned off entirely or in certain zones.

For now, it only has who picked up / put away fire and ice domes on DSR twins, but I'll eventually be adding some of my other debug stuff into it too, like who entered portals

Ah, it's because when we get the name of things like character names in the API, it tells us whether the name is male, female, or neutral via the ^m etc. I didn't realize that ability names could also do that in languages like German. It's hopefully fixed in v0.16.1, let me know if it's still a problem

Wrong detection of Lokkestiiz

Since U35, bosses' health points have been lowered. It causes the detection of Lokkestiiz to be currently broken since it's based on health points.

Heyo, yesterday i was in vSS and the position graphics on Lokke in HM disappeared (rather never showed up to begin with). I think something in the new update changed. Thank you for your hard work

You shouldn't see casts from other players. This is weird because someone else mentioned having this issue too but in Sunspire instead, and they said after they turned off Code's Combat Alerts it stopped happening. Would you be willing to try to figure out which addon is conflicting? i.e. enable/disable addons until you find which one causes Crutch to have the problem. It's really weird because the only thing I can think of is some addon is messing with the EVENT_MANAGER system, since Crutch shouldn't even be receiving general combat events that are targeted on other players, because I've set a player filter using AddFilterForEvent.
I'm having the same issue - I keep seeing a several-second countdown for "Recall" since installing Crutch, and occasionally see others like "Mount Up", "Heavy Attack (Inferno)", etc. Recall must have a pretty big radius because I usually don't even see a person porting nearby when it pops up. And I'm drowning in "Clean Fish" alerts!

I've tried disabling all my addons - literally all of them, plus all libraries, so literally the ONLY addons I had active were CrutchAlerts and LibAddonMenu-2.0 (dependency for Crutch), and I was still getting the "Recall" casts. Turned those bois off too just to be sure, and they no longer appear even when people port right next to me, so it's not something weird with my game itself. Turned just those two back on, Recall is back.

I turned on the debug options in Crutch to see if it's useful...

For "Clean Fish" my chat says:

A (0): Clean Fish(63427) in 1000 on  (0). N BEGIN
and the info under the alert says:

63427 (1000) [ none] begin
For "Mount Up", chat:
Code:
A (0): Mount Up(159906) in 550 on  (34288). N BEGIN
and I also got a Heavy Attack alert in chat:

A (0): Heavy Attack (Two Handed)(16041) in 1100 on  (0). N BEGIN
I didn't screenshot fast enough to catch the UI alerts for those, but they probably follow the pattern.
There are several others from Heavy Blow, Cage Talons, Fiery Chain that follow the basic pattern, just with different numbers.

For "Recall", the chat shows:
Code:
A (0): Recall(6811) in 8000 on  (37866). N BEGIN
and the UI element shows:
Code:
6811 (8000) [ none] begin
I'm also occasionally getting this in chat:
Code:
[CS] Overwriting Recall from  because it's already being displayed
The (37866) in the Recall chat alert seems to vary, I also see 65162, 44496, 28934... I'm guessing these must correspond with the the player that's porting, since it's a different number each time. Not sure why I'm getting alerted about Clean Fish though!



CrutchAlerts and its 1 dependency are literally the only addons I have enabled right now. I'm not grouped with anybody, just standing around in Vivec City near the bank.
Crutch Alerts settings menu shows Version 0.15.0, which matches the version number in Minion. It was just installed from Minion yesterday.

Addon settings for Crutch:
  • Unlock: off
  • Debug x 4: on
  • General Settings x5: on
  • Misc Settings x3: off
As far as I know all the trial ones are default settings.


I also tried swapping to a different character and am seeing the same thing.

I took some screenshots in case it'd be at all helpful, although I'm not sure what extra info you'd get out of them.

I think that's everything I can come up with right now for debugging purposes, but if there's something else that would give you useful info, let me know and I'll see what I can do

The official OdySupportIcons doesn't show icons for yourself. I'll DM you a modified version.
