It would be nice to have an option to set the number of rings rather than time or maybe make that an option.

k thank you for the answers. To answer your question, all the chat alert are disabled for me. Only the ringing is on for whisper, group and trade. All others are disabled, with the option of 15sec for sound.

So if i continue to talk in mode whisper with the same person the ring will go on ? Because actually for each line of communication with the same whisper is ringing. But ok noted


For group, its rings to alert me and then start ringing each time someone talk in the chat group. BUt if i disable group chat alert, i shoudl have nothing no ? i imagine that talking in the chat group is not the same as whispering ? just a question by the way.

Though the duration option help a lot, i still have a strange behavior.

If i receive a whisper,
- the ring stop when i answer to the whisper, but start again for no reason once i the person continue to whispering

if i am invited in group :
The ring stop as soon as i answer to the invite, but start again when we sart talking in group
On this one a reloadui did nothing, i had to go in the settings and put all on stop then do again reloadui

If i do a trade :
it does not stop when i accept the trade (i mean the opening windows)

Happened to me 3 times. I will continue to monitor to see if i do something wrong, which is totally possible.

Just a thought, I should never receive a notification for anything I post into any channel. Hmm, maybe this should be an option since maybe someone would want an audible confirmation?

Try this, if it doesn't bug then I'll have to disable all my addons and test again:

1. turn sound on for a guild channel
2. Open inventory and link an item into that guild channel into chat and send the message

For me it starts ringing and doesn't stop until I force it to stop.

I am very much looking forward to the "Duration" option in 0.1.5.

It works! Now it just keeps ringing until you do something with chat.

It would be nice if there was control over how many rings (1-10) you get.

Take a look at Zolan's Chat Notifications maybe there is code in there to turn off.

Edit, there is a bug that makes the addon unuseable. Open the inventory, link something into chat that is being monitored and the ringing starts and you cannot stop it unless you set the sound to off. This happens whenever you are not in the ui, on a different screen like inventory, guild list, etc.

Nope, I enabled for all the guilds and none of them rang. Today I hope to find time to disable all of the addons to see if there is a conflict.

I could not get the sounds to work no matter what I tried. Hmm, maybe another addon is blocking this addon?

You can use pChat in addition. It visually adds the name of the whisperer to the chat window so you see there is an unanswered whisper.
It's a good addition to sound addons like this one (though it also provides sound notifications as well on it's own, just less options comapred to this nice addon here -> combat/pvp).
