ACCURATE WORLD MAP : GOLD ROAD EDITION

Accurate World Map : Gold Road Edition is an addon for the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)
that replaces the in-game world map with a higher quality, and more lore accurate one.

Originally made by Vylaera & Thal-J, now reworked and maintained by Xiokro (me)

Features
  • 8k resolution, vanilla-style map
  • Lore friendly zone placements
  • Lore accurate renames of zones
  • Descriptions for various zones
  • Wayshrine visibility toggle
  • Dungeon/Trial visibility toggle
  • Owned/Unowned House visibility toggle
  • Display zone names on map
  • The ability to see IC Sewers without being in instance

Previews

Tamriel

Aurbis

Before Installing Notes
  • After the Necrom Chapter the entire codebase was reworked, and most ugly
logic code is now in LibMapThemer, if there is a non-visual bug within AccurateWorldMap
it's probably from LMT and should be reported there

  • Any bugs found in general should be reported to me (Xiokro) and not Thal-J or Vylaera
  • After installing, the world map will be completely different and almost nothing will be
in the same place as before. This is intentional, and may/will break many addons that
rely on the placement of the markers on the map.

Installation
  • Make sure ESO is closed, the theme may not fully load if ESO is running, even after a /reloadui
  • Make sure you have all the dependencies installed
  • Install addon into ESO addon directory
  • Enjoy!

Compatibility

Compatible
  • Map Pins by Hoft
  • DarkUI by Sharlikran
  • Destinations by Sharlikran
  • Lost Treasure by Sharlikran
  • Skyshards by Assembler Maniac
  • TrueExploration by Shinni
  • Most of Votan's Mods**
  • Any addon that doesn't effect the map or wayshrines

Partial Compatibility / Unknown
  • LoreBooks by Kyoma (Eidetic Memory Books don't work)
  • More that idk about

Not Compatible
  • GuildShrines (This addon sorta already does that)
  • **Votan's Tamriel Map (Just outright wont work correctly)
  • Any addon that effects the map or wayshrines in any major way

Known Issues
  • PvP battle marks dont respect map changes, this is a LibMapThemer issue.
  • Various markers may appear in incorrect locations, all these are known and being worked on.
  • English only for descriptions and renames.
  • Player icons may not align correctly on the world map. This is not a game breaking feature,
however until a reliable solution is found, the bug will remain.
  • The West Weald doesn't align properly on the west side near Vashabar (Being fixed)

Thanks To
  • Vylaera & Thal-J for initially creating the addon.
  • Highly Detailed World Map for the initial spark of map addons.
  • Anybody who initially helped with AccurateWorldMap.
  • The ESO Community as a whole for being fantastic.

v2.0.0 - 10/31/2023

It's been a while! If you want to know why it took so long since the last update, check the comments on the addon page

- Updated to Necrom (and Endless Archive)
- Totally overhauled the map style to be more accurate to vanilla ESO
- Merged Eltheric Map into Tamriel Map
- Added zone map labels (ala Votan's Tamriel Map)
- Additional wayshrine filters; by type, by major settlement, and by guildshrines
- Gamepad mode actually works now
- Many many many bugs and issues fixed
- A year's worth of other stuff I've probably forgotten

For addon authors:

We have separated AWM core internals into its own lib, LibMapThemer, which means you can use AWM's map theming tech in your addon if you want to. AWM is now the example implementation of a LMT Theme.

We are also accepting separate theme packs for AWM - look out for documentation on that soon.

v1.2.0 - 07/11/2022

- Added support for Firesong and Lost Depths

Known Issues:

- Galen's player positioning is off. We are planning to address this with a larger patch.

- Add patch for DarkUI

Thumbs up Zones names on the map ?

Great job, this map is very clean !

I would love to see a few more options like have the name of the zones appear directly on the world map and adding a darker layer to them as well, because I loved using Votan's Tamriel Map wich is not compatible with this new map.

Thanks again.

Having custom map styles and zone/province names & province borders is something we are looking into for future!

Map Pins Replacement

Absolutely in love with this addon - it's a must have for me now!
I was wondering if you were planning on adding some kind of alternative for map pins? (Or lorebooks, etc) as these addons are incompatible with AWM.

Keep up the good work ^^

Lorebooks should be fine, MapPins works also, it is a soft-incompatibility, sometimes icons will be in the wrong place, or it reverts some of the naming changes.

I've updated the addon page to make this more clear.

Glad this has finally come to Minion, instantly downloaded!

I have a couple of problems that I've run into. The Correct Player Positioning is permanently toggled off, despite having both LibZone and LibGPS activated. The only other addons are Addon Selector, and the relevant libraries for both addons (LibAddonMenu-2.0, LibChatMessage, LibCustomMenu, LibDebugLogger, LibDialog, LibMapPing).

Additionally, the lore text appears like this, which I assume is how it's meant to be.

When turning on my other addons, however, the text background gets dislodged from the text and it appears like this.

Unfortunately, I run an ungodly amount of addons, so I'm unsure where the conflict lies right now. If I find out, I will update.

Edit: Well, that was easy. It appears to be Votan's Mini Map! I also run the Circular Votan's Mini Map addon as well.

Edit 2: In addition, Tamriel is rather fuzzy on the Aurbis overview.

And finally, if I click on the new blob for the Earth Forge, I get taken to the map inside the forge itself, rather than the exterior map, making it impossible to port directly there with the "only major settlements" wayshrine option on.

Re: Glad this has finally come to Minion

This is quite a lot so I'll reply as concisely as posible:

- Correct Player Positioning:

Some background: this feature was developed in collaboration with the LibGPS (SirInsirator) and LibZone (Baertram) authors, as both libraries needed to be patched for this feature to work. My patch for LibGPS has gone through already, but Baertram is on holiday and won't be around to update it until mid June.

AWM is fully ready for this feature to work, it just needs both of those libraries to be updated. The setting you mention is actually just an indicator letting you know if the feature is able to be used or not. (when both libs update, it'll be automatically turned on)

If you're impatient, you can download the up-to-date patched version of LibZone here:
https://github.com/Baertram/LibZone/...Zone_GeoParent

- Earth Forge

I'm unsure what you mean by "rather than the exterior map", as the Earth Forge doesn't have one. If the issue is that the Earth Forge wayshrine doesn't show up, I can fix that.

- Aurbis fuzziness & misplaced zone description background

These are known issues and will be fixed in future.

Re: Re: Glad this has finally come to Minion

Thank you very much for the quick and concise response! Regarding the Earth Forge, you are correct. I was fooled by the arrow on the map which usually indicates "you've come in from this direction" on an interior cavern and I didn't think to double check. My apologies for the confusion!

THANK YOU !

This is a dream come true... I wanted to thank you for making this mod a thing.. The map of ESO has been bugging me since I played the game, and even with explanations from the Devs such as "The map has been made by the "people/factions" in-game, so it's normal to show inconsistencies, like the Nords don't want to acknowledge a big chunk of Morrowind next to their province." ... It still does not land right.

Places like a piece of the Velothi mountains showing on the Tamriel map... But not on the Stonefalls's one...? Cyrodiil that looks nothing like on the Tamriel map, a big chunk of Craglorn on the south that serves no purpose on Tamriel, and that is GONE when opening Craglorn map, Solstheim that TOUCHED Eastmarch... Like, clearly it is a sloppy design from the team, no lore excuses can answer that x) ...

You proved that a fix is perfectly possible... Heck, a fix, and IMPROVEMENT, my gosh... The fact that there is a whole section just for the Eltheric Ocean, tons of locations that can now be checked, and overall trying to not show more pieces of maps than there actually really is..

So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. This is by far my absolute favorite addon, and let's hope that, like many addons in the past, this one will get ZOS's attention, and that they will work on making it official <3 !

Hello, it's a great map but why didn't you draw something on the spot where Vivec city must be like you did with Bravil? It looks like it's already been annihilated by Baar Dau.

This was done for two reasons:
1. Vivec city is improperly placed in ESO due to scaling issues
2. I drew the map at lore scale (Daggerfall) in which individual cities, buildings, ships, and other man made structures would not be visible at that scale.

Player repositioning

LibZone just updated to its v8.0.0 version, meaning AWM should now automatically switch over to accurate player positions - let me know if there are any issues please!
