ACCURATE WORLD MAP : GOLD ROAD EDITION

Accurate World Map : Gold Road Edition is an addon for the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)
that replaces the in-game world map with a higher quality, and more lore accurate one.

Originally made by Vylaera & Thal-J, now reworked and maintained by Xiokro (me)

Features
  • 8k resolution, vanilla-style map
  • Lore friendly zone placements
  • Lore accurate renames of zones
  • Descriptions for various zones
  • Wayshrine visibility toggle
  • Dungeon/Trial visibility toggle
  • Owned/Unowned House visibility toggle
  • Display zone names on map
  • The ability to see IC Sewers without being in instance

Previews

Tamriel

Aurbis

Before Installing Notes
  • After the Necrom Chapter the entire codebase was reworked, and most ugly
logic code is now in LibMapThemer, if there is a non-visual bug within AccurateWorldMap
it's probably from LMT and should be reported there

  • Any bugs found in general should be reported to me (Xiokro) and not Thal-J or Vylaera
  • After installing, the world map will be completely different and almost nothing will be
in the same place as before. This is intentional, and may/will break many addons that
rely on the placement of the markers on the map.

Installation
  • Make sure ESO is closed, the theme may not fully load if ESO is running, even after a /reloadui
  • Make sure you have all the dependencies installed
  • Install addon into ESO addon directory
  • Enjoy!

Compatibility

Compatible
  • Map Pins by Hoft
  • DarkUI by Sharlikran
  • Destinations by Sharlikran
  • Lost Treasure by Sharlikran
  • Skyshards by Assembler Maniac
  • TrueExploration by Shinni
  • Most of Votan's Mods**
  • Any addon that doesn't effect the map or wayshrines

Partial Compatibility / Unknown
  • LoreBooks by Kyoma (Eidetic Memory Books don't work)
  • More that idk about

Not Compatible
  • GuildShrines (This addon sorta already does that)
  • **Votan's Tamriel Map (Just outright wont work correctly)
  • Any addon that effects the map or wayshrines in any major way

Known Issues
  • PvP battle marks dont respect map changes, this is a LibMapThemer issue.
  • Various markers may appear in incorrect locations, all these are known and being worked on.
  • English only for descriptions and renames.
  • Player icons may not align correctly on the world map. This is not a game breaking feature,
however until a reliable solution is found, the bug will remain.
  • The West Weald doesn't align properly on the west side near Vashabar (Being fixed)

Thanks To
  • Vylaera & Thal-J for initially creating the addon.
  • Highly Detailed World Map for the initial spark of map addons.
  • Anybody who initially helped with AccurateWorldMap.
  • The ESO Community as a whole for being fantastic.

- Requires an updated version of LibMapThemer (v1.1.0)
- Slightly changed the texture of the Tamriel map, you may notice the difference, you may not
- Slightly changed the texture of the Aurbis map, you may notice the difference, you may not

- updated build version so settings should be wiped on next boot/reloadui
- various LibMapThemer issues fixed

v2.0.0 - 10/31/2023

It's been a while! If you want to know why it took so long since the last update, check the comments on the addon page

- Updated to Necrom (and Endless Archive)
- Totally overhauled the map style to be more accurate to vanilla ESO
- Merged Eltheric Map into Tamriel Map
- Added zone map labels (ala Votan's Tamriel Map)
- Additional wayshrine filters; by type, by major settlement, and by guildshrines
- Gamepad mode actually works now
- Many many many bugs and issues fixed
- A year's worth of other stuff I've probably forgotten

For addon authors:

We have separated AWM core internals into its own lib, LibMapThemer, which means you can use AWM's map theming tech in your addon if you want to. AWM is now the example implementation of a LMT Theme.

We are also accepting separate theme packs for AWM - look out for documentation on that soon.

v1.2.0 - 07/11/2022

- Added support for Firesong and Lost Depths

Known Issues:

- Galen's player positioning is off. We are planning to address this with a larger patch.

- Enable fixed player locations by default
- Smaller file size

v1.1.0 - 05/06/2022

- Fix API level

- Add indicator in settings to show whether the player/waypoint respositioning feature is enabled (requires updated libs)
- Fix Zone Description background position bugging out in some circumstances

- Fix world map shimmering when zooming out
- Fix incompatibilities with circular minimaps
- Add patch for DarkUI

Firesong update

Hi all, finally got around to updating for Firesong and Lost Depths, update should be going out now. Please let me know if there are any major issues.

Edit: to answer the post below, that is of vanilla's doing, the zone names are inconsistent like that, and EasyTravel should use IDs instead of zone names to travel to places. AWM didn't touch Galen or Yffelon until just now.

Incompatibility

There's actually an incompatibility between this addon and EasyTravel, specifically with the High Isle and Galen zones, and any zone that was renamed with the Lore Accurate Names option.
When right clicking those zones through that addon, it tries searching for the modified names, and the roster searching mechanic breaks.
Even with the Lore Accurate Names option disabled, the 2022 zones display as "Traveling to Galen and Y'ffelon" rather than "Traveling to Galen", breaking it as well.
I know it might be more on their side the way the mechanic works, but I haven't seen the incompatibility listed in AWM's page, so it might not be known.

Exclamation Firesong

So, bad news. AWM isnt going to be updated in time for Firesong. Simply I dont have time or the means to do it. Firesong comes out Nov 1st, I am moving on the 3rd, won't have stuff ready by at least the weekend. Can't update the addon on my laptop because I dont have room for PTS on it, so the addon will have to wait until I'm set up at my new place.

Practically this means the Galen landmass on the map will not be clickable, and the wayshrines there will not show in the right place. Sorry folks. You'll still be able to access the new zone via the location list on the side of the map, you just wont be able to click into it.

Don't mention it! You guys deserve it and even more than this. If it were to me, ZOS should be rewarding you for fixing their sh*t...

Right now we're both busy with work and Vyl is busy with a redo (v2) of the map. We're aiming to get it done before Firesong launches. I'm waiting on Vyl to finish her side before I can do the addon side, and then I can look into compatibility stuff after. Fingers crossed.
Great to hear! I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually. Can't wait to see how v2 looks because this one already looks awesome Thank you once again and all the best to you both!

Is it possible to get Quest Map and Lorebooks addons compatible with AWM eventually?
Sadly I'm a bit of a collector and I depend on those two addons pretty much, so I can't give up on them quite yet.

I love your work, Vylaera, Thal-J, you guys are rockstars, ESO needed this kind of addon like we humans need air, lol. That vanilla map gives me headaches everytime I look at it, haha. I still can't understand how they can rape Tamriel like this.. ZOS are lucky to have such a great community that is willing to fix their mess ups. I'll wait patiently on a compatibility patch if possible, if not, I can't wait to finish clearing the zones I have left to start using this beauty

Much love and respect on a job well done!

Any mod using LibPGS will have the same issue and none of them are incompatible or have been made to be incompatible with your mod.
I have had something like this written on the the page since the beginning:

Note: After installing; zones, dungeons, and wayshrines will be moved to their more lore accurate locations, and thus will not match the in-game locations. This is intentional, and will not be changed.
But I agree that it should be made more clear like what you said. I will extend the wording on that notice to include other mods as well, to avoid users messaging other addon authors about incompatibility with AWM.

Is there a way you could make this addon compatible with the addon "Accurate World Map"? Reading over that addon page they list your addon as incompatible. Didn't know if there was an easy rework/update you could do to make it compatible. Thanks.
I don't know a good way to word it any differently but I feel that users will interpret the compatibility section to mean that an author like myself has to create the compatibility for your mod. You obviously don't have to use my suggestion, I just don't know how to avoid any confusion.

I was wondering if you could separate compatibility into its own section and indicate from your standpoint as the author, "Because of my goals for Accurate World Map I needed to alter the library LibGPS. I wanted to do this to make the maps more lore accurate. Upon doing so certain mods do not work the same with Accurate World Map. However, I am looking for a way to resolve this." Then list the mods so I don't get every user posting that I need to make my [insert mod here] compatible with your mod.

Any mod using LibPGS will have the same issue and none of them are incompatible or have been made to be incompatible with your mod.

Yes, will do. It sounds like a bug as turning off lore-names reverts to whatever vanilla does, but not in this case. I've added it to the bug list.

As for the settings error, looks like something in LorePlay addon is messing stuff up, I've had that happen with a few other outdated addons that rely on LibAddonMenu too.

Have you tried turning off Lore Accurate Names? I believe that should revert to vanilla naming, but if it doesn't then it's a bug and I'll add it to the list.

Thought it worth noting that Votan's Fisherman has the same issues as the Lorebook discussion below. Every fishing hole has been shunted out of place. As it's not locations built into the addon though, rather it marks ones as you discover them, someone installing it fresh with this addon wouldn't have a problem.

I'll let Votan know, hopefully some sort of patch can be figured out for that as rediscovering all these fishing holes will be exhausting!
