Description

What is this AddOn about?
I like achievements and I like to know what to do to complete them and what type of achievements exist without browsing through the entire achievement catalog: This AddOn displays lightweight chat notifications if you make progress in an achievement (please see the screenshots).

Features:
  • Shows chat notifications if you do something that is needed for an achievement
  • Triggers on each action or just in x% steps of the achievements requirements (configurable)
  • Can show some details in the chat notification like (kill 250/1000 Humanoids)
  • You can toggle the notifications for each category
  • Lightweight: It is not always present and shows up only when necessary
  • You can enable account-wide settings

---

Deutsche Beschreibung

---

Depends on LibAddonMenu-2.0. Please install it manually.

If you like the addon, you may want to buy me a drink.

Thanks to Llwydd for the french translation of the AddOn.

LibStub was used by an included dependency.

In version 3.0, I've removed the LibAddonMenu-2.0 dependency from the addon bundle. You have to install LibAddonMenu-2.0 on your own now, if not already done for other addons.

So there is no LibStub in my releases anymore.

Too bad it doesn't work for you anymore. I've tried it with different addons and it works fine for me.

What addons are you using?
Does anyone else have those problems?

That would be very nice indeed :D I was actually thinking that it'd be awesome to just get the last achievement notification rather than the first, but I just figured that wouldn't really be possible to code. I'm thrilled you found a way around that :D

I guess it could potentially end up looking weird if you have the timer set to something like five minutes, auto-fence a bunch of stuff and move on, and then end up getting a notification five minutes later when you're nowhere near a fence xD I doubt it'd be very noticeable with shorter time spans or if it's a "kill x mobs" type achievement and you're running around in a delve or trial or something.
Either way, 'weirdly delayed messages' in this case would be more of a user-controlled issue. It'd certainly be an acceptable issue for me ^^

Oh! I noticed another thing today, btw. Got a notification about Murkmire Skyshard Hunter, only the message seemed... somewhat broken:

Not entirely sure if this or another AddOn is to blame though -- I mean, I have the "line by line" setting on (since I have pchat installed) and it's still in one block, so perhaps some other AddOn is messing with it as well?
(Edit: Or does having the "line by line" setting on mean you get everything in a single line? That... seems counter-intuitive, if so ^^; )

I mean, if I fence or deconstruct one item, I want that achievement update, but if I fence fifteen items at once (which often happens with AddOns that auto-sells or auto-fences junked items) I don't need fifteen messages in a row. So a "timer" for the do-not-show would work better for me than a percentage-based setting.
So I'd concur with SilverWF's request, although for me "minutes" might be overkill ^^; I'd prefer something like "ten seconds" as a limit for duplicate achievement updates. Which doesn't mean the scale couldn't go up to, like, 600 seconds or more, for those who'd want to limit theirs to once per ten minutes -- then again, in that case the percentage-based limit might work just as well.

something like: if this achievement update was posted in the previous X min, then do not send message to chat.
Thank you very much. There should be an option for that in the settings already.

Make sure you disable "show every update" and with the slider "notification steps" you can adjust how often the messages for an achievement appear. You will get informed on the first step of an achievement and then every next x% :)

I looked at the screenshots before reading the description.
"A pixelating mod. Awesome!", was my first reaction. ^^
That would've been awesome for ****s and giggles.

Still good work though!

Hi and thanks for the addon and the continuing support

Would you please consider adding an option for Account Wide Settings.

With 15 characters to manage (perhaps 17 after Necromancer) it could only help

Thanks

Thank you for the compliment and the detailed report. But I have to admit that I couldn't reproduce the issue.

I've installed pChat, ChatIt and LUI Extended (was the only addon I could find including LUI Chat Announce). Left both pChat and LUI to the default settings and the result was the following:

Looks good to me. There wasn't any output in the "Guilds" tab too.

I've found a bug in the MultiWindow Addon I guess...
After moving one chat to a new window, I tried to edit the settings but it opens the settings of the wrong chat in the old window. I had to open and edit the settings before dragging the chat to a new window:

It looks fine in your screenshot, but could this still be the problem? Did you take the screenshot after placing the window back in the old window again? :/

I've tested this with my current version of the addon I will release in a few minutes. It shouldn't fix anything, but who knows. Please let me know if it changes anything for you or if the error still exists.

I've tested around a little bit but can't reproduce this in my currently updated version. Is this an ongoing bug? When does it occur? Only with specific achievements or a specific achievement category?

I'm using the german client too
