SorcererHelper  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.1.13
by: stjobe [More]
I'm not playing ESO any more, so I won't be updating this addon. Sorry!

SorcererHelper
An addon for sorcerers that gently reminds you to keep your minions and buffs up, and alerts you when your abilities (like Crystal Fragments) proc.

Features
  • Two types of icons: Reminders and Alerts, in two different windows
  • Alert icons are twice the size of Reminder icons
  • Reminders and Buffs can be individually turned on or off
  • Alerts display a countdown of seconds remaining
  • Option to hide reminders when in menus - New in 1.1.9!
  • Current Reminders:
    • Summons (Familiar/Clannfear and Winged Twilight)
    • Mage's Light
    • Bound Armor
  • Current Alerts:
    • Crystal Fragments
    • Surge
    • Lightning Form
    • Expert Hunter (experimental)
    • Daedric Curse - New in 1.1.9!
  • Does not load on non-sorcerer characters

Controls
  • Left-click and drag to reposition the windows (for Alerts, it's easiest to set "Show repositioning help" to ON in the settings)
  • You can turn off a feature if you do not want or need it in the settings panel

Known Issues
  • Expert Hunter tracking is experimental; it more than likely does nothing.
  • Crystal Fragments countdown does not reset if it re-procs - I can't think of a way to detect that.
  • Daedric Curse timer tracks from when it was cast, not from when it affects the target. As such, it might be off by a second or two depending on the distance to the target.

Possible Future Features
(A.K.A the "I'll do it if I come up with a clever way of doing it" list)
  • Mage's Fury Alert
  • Entropy healing tracking
  • Summoned creature HP display
1.1.13
* Bumped API version to 100009

1.1.12
* Maintenance release to comply with new API version

1.1.11
* Maintenance release to comply with new addon terms of use and new API version

1.1.10
* Attempt at fixing the Spell Symmetry issue
* Added check to not fire off more than one key scanner
* Now turns off key scanning if not needed

1.1.9
* Added option to hide Reminders in menus
* Added Alert for Daedric Curse

1.1.8
* Fixed a bug where the timers would count down 2 seconds instead of 1

1.1.7
* Fixed a bug where the Bound Armor Reminder was showing even when the ability wasn't slotted
* Bumped API version number for Craglorn.

1.1.6
* Trying to fix Surge alerts from proccing on e.g. Molten Weapon buffs by adding that the buff needs to be more than 20 points of weapon power.
* Added timers to Crystal Fragments, Surge, and Lightning Form Alerts.
* Added Reminder for Bound Armor

1.1.5
* Adjustment to when the icons are allowed to fade out (trying to fix the "sticky CF proc" bug).

1.1.4
* Finally fixed the SavedVariables bug.

1.1.3
* Reworked how Surge and Lightning Form are tracked; they should now show properly for their whole duration.
* Another shot at fixing the bug with the OFF setting not being respected.
* Fixed a bug with the repositioning of icons after an icon disappears.
* Added experimental support for Expert Hunter on the off-chance it's a regular buff.

1.1.2
* Fixed a bug where some Alerts were ignoring the OFF setting.

1.1.1
* Fixed a bug where the CF proc icon would stay on-screen if you switched to a bar without CF slotted. It now disappears as it should (and even reappears if you switch back within the procs duration).

1.1.0
* Rewrote large parts of the code to enable easier adding of more Reminders and Alerts
* Added border textures and animations to all icons
* Added tracking of Mage's Light, Surge, and Lightning Form
* Fixed a bug that would stop the CF proc from showing when normal cost was an odd number.

1.0.4
* Actually uses the vars set up by the new method in 1.0.3... Hopefully this will get rid of the nil index in GetSlotted.
* Fixed an erroneous local function

1.0.3
* Added method to set default values if SavedVars are missing.

1.0.2
* Fixed a bug that could stop the CFProc window from being created.

1.0.1
* Changed the way the addon works to lessen the processing
* Added fade-in/fade-out animation for buffs

1.0.0
* Initial release

Any idea how this could work?

Hey, thx for this mod!
I am trying to find/make a simple mod which can display the actual hp of your pets, but it is quite hard as i never made any mods for this game b4.
If you got an idea how this could be done, then it would be awesome if you could tell me^^
Meanwhile i will scan your code and see if i can learn something =)

A summoned minion health bar (or other type of HP display) is on my "things to do if I come up with a clever way of doing it" list.

Structured Entropy

When you use Structured Entropy, you get healed twice. Sometimes I dont know if I have recieved my second heal or not and I refresh.
Since this also refreshes the DoT, this is a real inefficiency on Magicka.
Is it possible to count the Entropy heals and reset the count if Entropy is refreshed?

Yep, I noticed myself that it picks up on any weapon power buff, no matter the source. I kept getting "Surge" proc indicators from Molten Weapons while doing a dungeon run with a DragonKnight friend.

I'll see what I can do to eliminate these false positives.

I don't really know how to implement that; I can try to track the heals, but there's no way of knowing from where these heals come (see also above issue), so unless I can come up with something clever...

I'll make a note of it though, and put it in the "things to do if I come up with a clever way of doing it" pile.

Hey stjobe. First, I want to say great addon! I used it when I was a caster sorc to remind me about my pets (it was alot easier to see they died in the heat of battle when the icon popped up).

Now that I'm a DW Sorc, I find I don't cast Crystal Fragments as much, and they don't proc *as often* as before, because I use several stamina abilities.

With that being said, is it possible to add a countdown tracker to the icons that your addon creates? I made a quick example in paint to show you what I mean!

It should definitely be possible. It's a bit hectic at work right now (summer code freezes start soon at several customers, and they all want their pet functionality in before then...), but I'll look into it as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks! It's not something real major, just a little quality of life change that I thought would be tremendously helpful, being able to see the time left on those buffs with a quick glance.

It was pretty easy to get a timer on the buttons (work in progress, particulars may change before release):

What's proving challenging is getting the timers to reset when Surge and LF are recast, or when CF re-procs.

Oh, and distinguishing between Lightning Form and Thundering Presence (+2 sec duration)...

Edit: Timer reset on Surge and LF is now working, left to do before release is working out how to detect CF re-procs and how to distinguish between a morphed and a non-morphed ability (LF and TP).

Edit 2: I can now distinguish between a morphed and a non-morphed ability (LF and TP), so the only thing left before I can release a new version is to think a bit more about whether it is actually possible to detect a CF re-proc or not.

Nice....

It looks like I found the 59th addon I am going to install

One quick question tho... can you add the Bound Armor "summon" as it suffers the same disappearance issues that traditional summons do.

Countdowns are implemented in 1.1.6 (which should clear approval shortly).

The only slight niggle is that I can't detect CF re-procs, but we'll have to live with that for now.

Bound Armor tracking is implemented in 1.1.6.

Edit: There's a bug in 1.1.6 with the Bound Armor Reminder; it will display if you switch from a bar with BA on it to one without it. The bug will be fixed with the next release (later today or tomorrow, since I will have to do a release anyway to bump the API number for Craglorn).

Thanks, this is so awesome

Do you know if there is a way to track something like circle of protection from the fighter's guild (it applies effects to the character but as far as I can tell the buff doesn't show up... but I am not sure what clever work arounds you are using and don't have time to go code delving right now)

Oh and a not at all important but if you get around to it request, can you add an option to right align the icons? I position the small "bar" on the right side of my compass and the OCD in me would love it if the icons lined up properly

It could be tracked by stat comparisons (current vs base), but the problem is that there's no way to tell where a stat increase comes from (I'm having that issue with Surge already - it pick(ed) up on Molten Weapons buffs as well as Surge itself), so it's... shaky at best.

I won't say no, but it's not at the top of the list.

I'll put it on the Possible Future Feature list
