Version: 1.10

TrueExploration

Until now you've had some magical atlas with a map for every zone, dungeon and even the daedric planes. Not anymore! With this addon, you have to "draw" your own maps.
Each map will start as an empty piece of paper, but as you travel and explore tamriel, your character will draw everything he/she sees.

This Addon is usefull for exploration fans and completionists, who don't want the exact locations revealed as in Destinations.

This addon is compatible with AUI's minimap and Votan's minimap.

Chat commands (should be used while the world map is opened):
/tedebug 1 activates debug mode
/tedebug 0 deactivates debug mode
While in debug mode, you can "draw" the map with your mouse. left mouse button to discover an area, right button to "forget" it again.

/discover completely discovers the currently displayed map.
/undiscover removed the previously set discovered flag.
/clearmap completely clears the saved data for currently displayed map.

Additionally the view radius and the opaqueness of the undiscovered texture can be set in the addon's menu.
ESC -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> TrueExploration

If you enjoy slow and immersive gameplay, try SlowDialogs.

I'm finding that when I open and close my world map it makes everything on my minimap (Aui's minimap) undiscovered until I encounter a part of the map I haven't been to yet and then it updates and is fine.

Is it possible to make it do an update either when the map key is pressed or automatically when the map is closed so as to fix the problem?

Progess is saved in the SavedVariables folder next to the addons folder.
Usually located in:
My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/SavedVariables
In that folder is a file called TrueExploration.lua, you can copy that from one computer to another to transfer the progress.

Any way to get this to play along with AUI's minimap? There is no fog of war on the minimap.

Compatibility with Voltan's MiniMap

Looks like there is a compatibility issue when running with Voltan's MiniMap.

When the two are running, True Exploration doesn't update either the minimap or the main map.

/tedebug 1 works.

If I disable Voltan's MiniMap, TE works.

If there's a fix or workaround, please let me know. Otherwise I'll keep my fingers crossed that a fix is made.

Love the addon, thank you for making it. As many have said, this functionality really should have been implemented in the game itself.

Hello, love the addon, but I'm having an issue.

Whenever I open up the map, everything is blank as if I've discovered nothing. It's only until I zoom out to see the region, THEN back into the region I'm in does it show where I've discovered.

OPEN MAP

ZOOM OUT

ZOOM BACK IN

I can make a video of this if you'd like. It's very inconvenient. Hopefully it's something easily fixed on my end. Thanks for the great addon!

I just installed this AddOn and I must say, I'm really liking it. However I have two requests;
  • Make it possible to "discover all".
  • Make it possible so that vantage points explore more of the map.

First point, because on my main character I have been everywhere, I don't want to travel everywhere again with it. But, future content I would like to explore using this AddOn. So I would like there to be a /discoverall or when I /discover on the Aurbis that I discover everything that is currently available. Perhaps then also a /undiscoverall option for those that made a mistake.

Second point, it's a bit more tricky, I understand, but I would really like to have the option to go to a vantage point, say a cliff for example, and discover more of the land that way. Like those early day explorers did, they didn't look behind every tree, they climbed to the highest point they could see and drew there maps from there.

If any of these can be done, I would greatly appreciate it!

Regardless, thanks for the AddOn! I'll keep using it for characters on which I haven't been everywhere.

Regards,
Jigen

Nice mod, original game MUST HAVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY. But there is one problem( Tamriel map is spoiled, it is not possible to chose region correctly. Fix it if u support this mod still.

Great addon

I love it. Sad i didnt know about it earlier. Thanks a lot, this changes the whole gameplay.

It is still working although it is outdated. Is someone maintaining it ?

I have one wish. It would be nice if discovered cities show on the map of the landscape. I found out i am able to paint it with debug 1, but it is a bit strange to handle this way.

Broken or working?

My game will not load since the last patch. It would be awesome if I knew which addons were broke. Is this currently updated to work with the new patch?

when I try to open the map.
It seems ZO_WorldMapContainer1 is nil and relogging and reloadUI do not help.
I was staying in Scalp Keep in Orsinium during the mission "The King's Gambit" before logout.
Once I went into the throne room it worked again.

Yes, this is very much so compatible with Fyrakins Mini-map.. although apparently not in round mode? I'm wondering if this is planned to happened.. or for all I know it's only not working for me. Pretty much it works.. except all the excess map sticks out from the nice round edge of the mini-map (since this add-on considers the map to be square).

Any thoughts on if this will be supported in the future, or any workarounds I can apply myself?
I've the same problem. I like the round minimap and with this great mod enabled, the edges sticks out.
