Inventory Insight  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
One Inventory to rule them all!
(Items from banks, house storage, and all of the characters on your account! All in one place.)

What does it do?
  • tracks everything in your characters' Bags, Bank, Guild Banks, CraftBag and Storage Chests
  • tracks items in House(s) (configurable)
  • keeps track of the Gold / AP / Telvar Stones / Writ Vouchers for each character
  • keeps track of the space used/available for each character
  • allows filtering your inventory by item type
  • lets you search the items by name, or by set name
  • adds data to item tooltip showing you where that item is located (all popups/tooltips, or only when over the Inventory Insight window)
  • Tracks information separately between NA and EU

Recently added features:
  • FCO Item Saver integration
  • Guild banks tracking is now separate between world servers
  • Jewelry filter is now on main bar (to match rest of base UI)

Library dependencies: (all are available here at ESOUI)

Backlog:
  • Track multiple accounts: Voodoo might be possible

Where do I send massive qtys of gold or mats (or not so massive)?
We gladly accept donations:
NA: @AssemblerManiac
EU: @manavortex
3.67

- Updated for U41

3.66

- Update to address resizeToFitDescendents warnings

3.65

- Update to address regression for subcategory dropdown
- Removed MRL support

Because of those that do not wish to help find the mod causing the conflict I removed the MRL support. I can't troubleshoot it because I'm not using the same mods as those with the issue. It would have been nice to know which mod was causing the issue. I especially can't without a LibDebugLogger file that was created while they had the issue.

The necrom update has some bugs in it anyway that will do things as simple as break resizing windows. The fixes for some of these issues won't be included until the next incremental or update 39. So removing the MRL code will be helpful so that after the release of Necrom when someone realizes something is broken I won't have to hear people complain about it when the user has the issue because of other mods causing the conflict.

3.64

- Fix for Search inventories from Chat
- Jewellery no longer shows up when filtering armor

3.63

- Added tooltip to Deconstruction assistants

3.62

- Fix for moc with Lazy Set Crafter

3.61

- Update to tooltip localization for weapons

3.56, 3.58, 3.59, 3.60

- Update to address possible mismatching of items from any list of items
- Added nil checks for AGS when data rows are temporarily empty or switching between a guild that has listed items for sale and one that doesn't

The tooltip should be correct now for outdated mouse over controls. Added controls include Furniture Catalogue and CraftStore.

3.55

- Update to address possible mismatching of items when you right click on the UI from other mods like Awesome Guild Store

3.54

- Fix for Honestaly's report that the search box no longer works

3.53

- Pre PTS version

3.52

- Fix for IIfA: Search inventories issue that Neverlands reported

3.51

- Update to make the Up and Down arrow buttons for the scroll bar work to scroll the list because previously that was not defined.
- Holding Shift while clicking the Up or Down arrows or while scrolling the mouse will move the list by an increment of 10. Basically a Page Up/Page Down.
- Inventory Insight will no longer display the count for the last item viewed in the main UI for items in the MM window. Meaning if you looked at Acai Berries and had 1000 of them in your craft bag, everything in the MM window had 1000 for the tooltip. This only applied to new views and lists that didn't previously exist.
- You can now right click items to link the MM price from the Inventory Insight window

3.50

- Reworked tooltip font routines for quickc's report
- Updated TLC in xml because of ZOS changes so currency and bag space popup isn't under the Inventory Insight window

@M-ree

There is no way to force a scan and I really wouldn't want to do it because for certain things you have to have a bank or the Guild bank open or you have to be in a house to scan the chests.

I have already mentioned more than once that at some point I would like to rewrite how things work because I need to add support for companions anyway. I have mentioned that I have seen what you are mentioning but it does update.

I'm aware of it and I will try to improve it but in all reality I can't promise that any changes I make in the future will really improve the situation.

It may be very frequent for you but it's not for me. It's very rare and almost never happens, for me. That is why I feel that I may never be able to improve it as much as you would like because I don't know what's going on in the background with somebody else's mod that could be interfering or causing problems for the internal ZOS functionality that the previous authors used for Inventory Insight.

(edit -- nevermind, I have found the option to disable the debug info, just wondering why it all of a sudden turned on.)

I also have issues with IIfA often not updating items when they are moved or otherwise change quantity -- VERY often resulting it in showing I have something in the current character's inventory when I don't, or showing that I have these items both in the current character's inventory and the bank/storage.

Is there a way to force IIfA to rescan?

@Phinix, MRL, PTS

Since you are being kind and respectful (which is nice of you) then I'm trying to figure it out. Thanks for all the feedback and examples.

It doesn't work on the PTS!!! So you are 100% correct... however, that's the PTS.

That is not the live server. There are no change notes that I am aware of other then what is in Update 37 (Version 8.3). So if sirinsidiator and ZOS can explain why then we can go from there. For now nothing about MRL is being affected on the live server.

sirinsidiator did comment that the PTS is on 8.3.4, and that it is entirely possible that there are some code changes as well. The eso source code we all reference has a commit for 8.3.5. So I doubt changes are finalized at this point.

None of which apply to the live server.

Since I can see how this affects the Inventory Insight GUI, I will fix that for the Inventory Insight GUI at some point. Again I am not the original author and don't know the intention of doing it that way.

Re: MRL

OK, I looked into this a bit further and IIfA is definitely blocking MRL tooltips. I also know why. Here is a link showing the problem with no addons other than MRL, IIfA, and the required libs for each:

Compatibility

The problem is that IIfA has compatibility code for MRL that will not work as-is. In InventoryInsight_Tooltip.lua starting at line 50, IIfA contains this code:

Warning: Spoiler

In function IIfA:UpdateTooltip on line 592, IIfA checks if the inventory contains any of the item link, and hides the tooltip if not. The problem is, the whole point of Master Recipe List's tooltips is to be able to see items even if you don't have them in your inventory. So, IIfA is basically hiding all of MRL's tooltips when you don't have any of that item currently in your inventory (which will be most of them).

Further, the compatibility code for MRL won't work even for items you DO have in your inventory in the current form. Line 573 that checks self:getLastLink(tooltip) will currently return nil for MRL's tooltips. This will require further investigation and modification of the MRL compatibility code if you want to be able to add IIfA info to the MRL gui tooltips for which you actually have the item in your inventory, however since this is such an outlier for use-case the safest route would be to simply comment the non-functional MRL compatibility code in the above spoiler until it can be revised.

This will allow IIfA to function for everything it should (any item tooltip NOT specifically generated within MRL's gui), while also leaving MRL's tooltips alone so they can be shown even when IIfA is installed.

EDIT:

Line 593 in InventoryInstight_Tooltip.lua should also be commented as it will break ANY addon's tooltips if you do not currently have the item in question in your inventory. It should be sufficient to simply return out of the function of IIfA has nothing to do.

@Phinix

I tried it already and it doesn't fix anything. It doesn't change any functionality whatsoever. The tool tip doesn't show up in the Inventory Insight window with or without that added to the manifest.

But I did check things by turning on the detailed information for recipes so that it shows what is required to make that recipe. That shows up in player inventory and your user interface.

Maybe you have other mods installed that I don't. Because if your testing makes a change I understand your tenacity. However, my testing with that added changes nothing.

You don't need to change any hooks at all because it does absolutely nothing when I put that in the manifest file.

What would be more helpful is what is being blocked because for what I can see in the inventory Insight GUI is that both ttc and mrl tooltips do not show.

Like I said that's an obvious oversight on the part of the original authors and I don't have a problem changing it I just don't want to do it right now.

Updating your mod would be completely useless at this point and premature because I can already see that there's an issue in the inventory insight user interface.

So because nothing is being broken, blocked or interfered with unless we're talking about the inventory insight window for my testing, I would need more information. Completely ignoring the inventory insight window what is being affected and how? What other mods might you have installed that I don't and what settings are you changing that demonstrates how the tool tip is affected anywhere else other than the inventory insight window.

@YunaWolf

I have had other people tell me before that they have strange issues with the count of things in the bank and so on. When I go to test it then it works fine. I haven't tested what you are describing.

The mod should scan your inventory when you log into a character. It should when you open your bank or a guild bank you are monitoring. It will only examine house chests while in a house. So if you're standing in a city when you log in and then you search for potatoes while you're standing in the city it's not going to be accurate cause you didn't go in your house.

The game stores your saved variables in memory while the game is running. You cannot delete those files while the game has your data loaded in memory. Don't take shortcuts and try to figure out ways to avoid extra steps. Close everything you have running before you delete any saved variables files.

If you delete the files while everything is closed and you haven't visited your house and mysteriously you have potatoes in a chest that is not a bug of the game or of the mod and I cannot fix that. Nor do I have any idea what could cause that other than a cloud service like OneDrive.

Hello,

I have this issue:

It always shows, I have like 200x Potato and Gingko etc. in "Hausbank 1" (German Client, should be like Housebank in EN)

1.) There is nothing in my chests - I guess, because of ESO Plus the game maybe took the items back automatically, although I did not collect them, because yesterday I put materials in a different chest to test and again these are gone today / in my craft bag again --- BUt it is strange, that this 2nd Test Chest is not saved / displayed, it keeps showing Hausbank 1 only for these (not existing) items

2.) It is weird, that it says Hausbank 1 instead the name of the chest, I had to test all chests to find out, which one the addon means / The one I tested yesterday was then called Hausbank 3 instead of the name --- it does NOT show the items when selecting the name of the chest, it only shows "Hausbank" when searching for the item name --- Hausbank 1 is the very first Chest you get for free

3.) Now, since I think they just "magically" were transfered back to my crafting bag (but if this was the case, why doesn't it also show Hausbank 3, only Hausbank 1)

- I deleted saved data via Inventory Insight "Manage Collected Data" option
- I deleted saved Variables via Minion
- I even uninstalled the Addon and reinstalled it via Minion (Game was closed)

and it still shows me like the 200x Potatoes in "Hausbank 1", while there is nothing

Do you have any idea what's happening ?

@efster

The house must be visited because the game doesn't have access to the contents until you travel inside the house. So if you reset your saved variables at some point then yes you will have to load into the house again even if you have 30 more houses to visit.

As far as everything else like I say there's really no speculating I have no clue what kind of obstacles the original author's had. I also don't know if the scroll down list for the settings menu which is driven by LibAddonMenu has any limitations so I can't really answer any kind of speculative stuff.

So for now it's basically like I said, I'll keep it in mind.

Re: @efster

Thanks for taking a look! I also had a look in the main Inventory Insight window where there is a scroll bar on the drop down list and it's not limited by screen size, and some houses just don't seem to show, even if I load the addon when I'm standing in the house. I think some of them are not showing because I haven't visited them since recreating the saved variables file a few months ago, but I'll need to find time to sit down and do that, as that's a lot of loadscreens.

If names don't matter, then it's probably not that the house is known as both Antiquarian Alpine Gallery and Hjaalmarch Gallery in the game itself. I thought, maybe ZOS treats houses that were free to all players differently from purchased houses? So I ported to the Grand Psijic Villa and that wasn't on the list, either. But then neither was Serenity Falls Estate, but that's not a free house (though it does have a name mismatch in the game like the Alpine gallery, as do the Princely Dawnlight Palace and Thieves' Oasis, which also won't show in the list). Or maybe there is just a hard limit on the number of houses it can parse?

@efster

I did glance at the saved variables and the Seaveil Spire seems to have a bag ID of 10223. Which sorta makes sense to me that ZOS would just use a Bag and Slot ID to store items in a house. When they decided to introduce housing to us maybe they just built onto the current inventory system rather then invent something new specifically for housing. They seem to have just chosen to use some arbitrary number to represent the house.

I am not the original author so I don't know what obstacles they had when creating the mod. There may not be or there may not have been ways to check whether or not the bag ID is a valid house. I have no idea how the mod would check for valid housing storage locations the same as it does for bags and the housing chests because those have specific constants. It's not by a name of a house and I don't think I have ever seen ZOS constants for each house. It's good that names aren't used because that would be a nightmare if I had to have the translations of all the names of each house in order for things to work correctly.

I have already mentioned that this mod does not store or maintain Companion inventory either. My initial testing doesn't work that well. It kinda works but it can't really keep up and update properly because of how ZOS does it. The ZOS developers don't really provide separate ways to do what I need.

There is a good chance everything just has a Bag ID and slot ID and there is a chance that how the original authors decided to do everything was the best approach at the time. These days there may need to be a better way. Although with that said ZOS may not really provide the functionality for that since they probably just check whether or not the house has a full inventory and whether or not the house has the max number of a specific item type. Since that may be all they need they don't provide us with anything else.

There is also a chance that how it needs to be done requires hard coding specific values. Since the housing location is just a number I'm also worried it would be 10223 for me but a different number for you.

TLDR; I can keep that in mind but part of the problem is I don't think I can test that. I don't have all the houses and I don't have the gold or the crowns to buy them all. I will look into some other things though since you mentioned resolution. Although I must stress that I have a regular monitor. It's not 4k or a laptop so probably 1920x1080 or whatever. The dropdown is from LibAddonMenu so I don't have control over that.

The addon doesn't save furniture in some houses, just refuses to - I've never ignored any houses, but for some reason when I go to the settings, it lets me unignore houses; there's a full list in the dropdown. That fixes the issue (but doesn't remove the house from the list in settings). Unfortunately, I have more houses than the addon can show (the list is from top to bottom of my screen, and I can't change my resolution any more), so some house storage is just completely inaccessible to IIFA.

I tried poking around the files to see where the houses are stored so I can empty out the phantom ignore list that way, but had no luck. ;-; (If it is relevant, I have every single house in the game.)

I do remember that this mod does have an odd way of handling the tooltip but for now I don't want to overhaul that to work like MM. However I don't think MM does it much better. There are a few odd circumstances for this mod when it gets the item link for its own GUI and I don't understand the original authors intentions.

The behavior you mention only affects this mods GUI.

Compatibility...

Hi, hope all is well. Just a heads-up this is currently blocking PopupTooltip hooks in Master Recipe List (and probably any other addon that hooks this tooltip). EDIT: See above.
