SetMeUp  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 006-100022
by: Werewolf Finds Dragon [More]
Please read this.

I'm taking another break for a while. My anxiety isn't holding up well and I need to take some time for myself to recover. Frankly, modding can be a thankless job and some of the people one is forced to interact with can be... deeply unpleasant at best, to put it in the kindest way I can and not as I truly want to. For now, I feel like my mods don't need any further work done to them. They're fine as they are. See you later, folks.

I'll be back! I'm not gone for good, I just need to set this aside for now. That's all.

One thing I will say as a final note is that it'd be nice if one could turn off the comments system and only have a bug tracker in the vein of Nexus Mods. That'd be handy for people like myself who do deal with anxiety. And I deal with a lot of anxiety.

See you around, folks. My thanks to those who were kind.

Description
Tired of setting up in-game settings every time you create a new character? Fed up of all those checkboxes? How would you just like to type one, short line of text into the chat window and be done with it, instead? Just like that.

Along with settings. SetMeUp also supports: Chat tab states and information (for all chat windows), chat window position and dimensions (for all windows), optional key binding support through Binder.

So, aside from addon settings (here's the mod for those), SetMeUp is your one-button setup for new characters.

Note: If I update SetMeUp to include new features, you'll have to remake your profile to take advantage of whatever new things the mod covers.

Note: I'm aware that Deome has a similar mod, but his is outdated and is missing a large swathe of settings added by newer patches. My mod uses the same idea but is written from scratch to be dynamic rather than using static setting lists.
Features
Not much to say that isn't covered above. Save your settings profile on one character, then log onto another to load it there. Create profiles for all sorts of scenarios, however you like it! Let SetMeUp handle the hassle.

Slash Commands

SetMeUp is controlled with the following slash commands...
  • /smu save profile name - Stores your in-game settings profile as 'profile name;'
  • /smu load profile name - Loads in-game settings from 'profile name;'
  • /smu delete profile name - Deletes the profile named 'profile name;'
  • /smu list - Lists all of your stored profiles;
  • /smu help - Tells you of the commands and what they do.
Disclaimer
I'm sharing this though because I genuinely get satisfaction out of the mere possibility of helping others, even when I don't know for sure. I have no interest in being popular, cults of popularity squick me out. As such, considering my disabilities, I'm unlikely to look at the comments very much. So this addon is delivered as-is, with a hearty dose of caveat emptor. Anything that it doesn't already do is 'out of scope.' You have other choices. I just wanted to make an simple, elegant solution for a real problem I was having. And now I'm sharing it in case it helps others.

:: 006-100022

o Fixed the typo causing the error.

:: 005-100022

o Code cleanup and bugfixes.

:: 004-100017

o Hadn't mentioned that SetMeUp does its tab thing for all tabs in all windows, not just the primary windows. Pretty handy for you multi-window users out there.

o SetMeUp now supports chat window dimensions and position, for all windows.

o Threw a safety check in there to make sure that nothing can be done with SetMeUp when the player is in combat, dead, or reviving. I doubt anyone would actually try this on purpose, but just in case someone gets jumped or something...

:: 003-100017

o Chat tab information is now saved.

o SetMeUp now supports Binder.

:: 002-100017

o I've now dealt with all social option vulgarities. And I call them that because they were the only aspects to lack a settingId! They just had to be special snowflakes. Grump, grump, grump.

o What that means is that SetMeUp now handles chat bubble options, chat colours, chat font size, and chat alpha. Finally. The means of handling chat bubbles/colours was actually okay, that didn't make things too horrible. Though what I had to do to handle font size/chat alpha makes me pull a face. >:C

o After loading a profile, a reload of the UI will occur just to ensure everything is properly saved and then initialised. It's probably not necessary, but I like taking that step just to make sure.

:: 001-100017

o Initial release.

Hey, just figured I'd let people know that as of now this addon still works, saved me some trouble farting around on my alt that I'm just about to level.

Also thanks to the author for making a reliable and useful addon.

As far as saving keybinds I just used Binder for that, works similarly to this except it handles keybinds.

Hi, I just installed your addon, and used it to save from an existing cchar and load onto a new character. The setting Auto Loot did not transfer over (Gameplay->ITEMS). I had it set to 'on' and this did not tranfser over to the new char.

Thanks for the wonderful addon, makes my altaholic life easier Wish I had have found it sooner than today.

Can anyone tell me (after testing) whether any settings or chat features (in specific terms) are missed in the latest update? Thanks!

I appreciate it. I do play and test myself, but with something as all-encompassing as all of the settings, something might've gotten overlooked. Due to the dynamic nature of things, nothing technically should have been, but you know how things are.

I've made a video of me going threw my settings, so I can sync them across toons.
So annoying it doesn't do this by default, I'm the same person playing, why would they be different?
And IF I did have to change it for say one toon or so, it's a lot better to change one or 2 settings, rather then every single setting.
That seems a bit excessive, you can just take a screenshot of the settings, or type the numbers in a notepad. But I do agree, all settings should have an "account-wide" option by default. I can't even remember playing any other game where if you started a new character, save game, whatever it would clear all your gameplay settings.

I can't seem to get the chat window settings working properly. SMU has no problem copying color information and settings in the Social tab, but the chat window tabs, position, and size do not seem to be saving or loading.

Thanks!

Thank you for making this addon! I hated setting up my nameplates and key binding every single time!

Hi, I love the utility of this mod but seem to be having a problem. (I think) it's with this mod and pchat. I can use this mod to /smu but for some reason it will auto-scroll the chat window. I hope maybe it can be fixed. until then i just save my profile(s) and enable/disable as needed.

-thanks for a great mod

Yes! I was excited about that. It was covered dynamically through the system I use to build options support. Essentially, it doesn't directly support anything. ZOS' own systems tell my addon what it should support in 80 per cent of the cases. Only a scant few social options, and the chat window stuff had to be handled on a specific case by case basis.

Essentially, I was delighted to see how well SetMeUp worked when I initially tried it. I don't always know if my madcap ideas will pan out, sometimes they don't (Masquerade's automated features), and sometimes they do (SetMeUp in general).

I try not to get too technical with this, but it excites me.

TL;DR: Technically, SetMeUp has support for all nameplate features, even though not specifically added into the mod itself.
