Circonians EmoteIt  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.9

What does it do?
You can add "Trigger Text" to an emote and a specific chat channel. Whenever you say that text in the chat channel, the emote will be automatically played.
  • If you assign more than one emote to the same trigger text, in the same channel, it will play one of those emotes at random.
  • Assigning a trigger to the "ALL Chat Channels" means that it will trigger on any chat channel monitored by EmoteIt, which are: Emote, Say, Party, & Yell channels. Emotes will not be triggered on any other chat channel.
  • You can also run the emotes by clicking on an emote in the main window. This way you don't have to type them all out to preview them & see which ones you like.
I'm not a roleplayer, I have no idea what people would want, or what would be useful. There are NO default triggers, you must set them up yourself.
See Pictures for help & read instructions below.
How To Use It
  1. Hit ESC, go into Controls -> keybindings and bind a key to toggle the EmoteIt window.
  2. Use your hotkey to open the EmoteIt window.
  3. Select the "/" button from the menu bar at the top of the window to view all emotes.
  4. Select an emote (the trigger window will open).
  5. At the bottom select a channel & type the text you wish to trigger the emote and click the "Add Trigger" button.
Right Click Menus
Main Window
  • In the EmoteIt main window you can right click on an emote to mark or unmark it as a favorite. You can then click the "/F" button on the menu bar at the top to display only your favorite emotes.
  • In the EmoteIt main window you can click the "S" button on the menu bar at the top to display all text that is currently set to trigger an emote.
Trigger Window
  • When you select an emote in the main window the trigger window will display all text set to trigger the selected emote & what channels they are triggered on. You may right click on any of the trigger text in the list to delete the trigger.
  • When you select trigger text from the "All Triggers" panel in the main window (the "S" button on the menu bar) the trigger window will display all emotes that are triggered by that text & what channels they are triggered on.

You can say more than just the Trigger Text:
For example if you set up EmoteIt to play the "/whistle" emote whenever you say the word "whistle" on the emote channel you could say:
"/emote walks away and begins to whistle a lovely tune."
and it would catch the word whistle in the text & play the "/whistle" emote
Play a Random Emote
If you want to play a random emote for some given trigger text assign the same trigger text, on the same channel, to multiple emotes. If more than one emote is setup to play on the given chat channel when the trigger text is said it will play one of those emotes at random.

LIST OF EMOTES

Lightbulb Really needs updating

I actually found an alternative to this that is up to date and working.

It also has more options with channel availability and such.

Exclamation Pls Update

This addon is absolutely fantastic and I've been using it for over a year.

With the recent updates it causes UI Errors in inventory and banking. Please update this addon! I'd love to keep using it.

Is this still maintained? I was wondering if it would be possible to add trigger words for mementos as well?

Trigger emotes off exact text

Hi!

I have an emote linked to the word "thanks". But it also triggers whenever I say "no thanks", which is not exactly awesome. Is there a way to bypass this somehow?

Thank you!

Question feature request

Is it possible to add a search box for emotes? Scrolling through this long list is a royal pain .

That would not be possible due to the large number of emote keywords. Or at least not feasible. LAM does not contain a scrollList widget of any type (which scrollLists simplify displaying large/dynamic amounts of information).
The only way to do it would be to hard code all of the emote keywords (which is bad coding and I'm not going to do). Even then that would make an ungodly huge settings menu, there would have to be over 3,000 controls just to handle the "All Emotes" "Favorite Emotes" and "All Triggers" lists.

As for downloadable trigger files, I do not and have not ever roleplayed. I know nothing about it and have no idea what would be a good idea to add which is why I did not include any default triggers.
I see, I got your point, you are right. About downloadable trigger files, this can be crowdsourced, players can upload their trigger files and then they can be merged into downloadable templates. Of course it depends on how many people participate in this. I'll post mine when I get some more triggers in it . Thank you for the quick reply!

Thumbs up Praise and suggestion

A wonderful Addon for casual roleplay, thank you for making this! Me and my friends love it to bits.

If i could suggest one thing to make it even better, it would be a way to define a hierarchy in which emote is being prefered when multiple Triggerwords occur in a single sentence.

For example, its not feasible right now to trigger emotes through a simple Period sign (.) as well as (?) and (!) to emulate talking animations, as they would just lower the chance for more fitting Emotes to occur. a checkbox for lower / higher priority could fix this.

another solution could be a seperate tab that can be filled with emotes that randomly play when no other triggerword is met.

Of course i have no idea how tricky it would be to implement such a thing but i think it canīt hurt to ask Thank you again for this great add-on!

The main problem is that there are so many emotes to choose from and allowing multiple emotes on trigger words makes it tricky to prevent user error. Theres so many emotes I can't 'easily' display a list of them to choose from & then allow you to add trigger text. I think it would have to literally just be two edit boxes & allow users to manually type in trigger text in one box & the emotes in the other.
I will think about it & see if I can come up with a better idea.

It is a good idea, but I won't do that. Although this addon might be a replica of AutoEmote, I wrote it from scratch without copying his work and I'm not going to copy his default emotes.

I added it, Posted Version 0.3

Auto Emote has a good list of "what's wanted" if you want to set that as the base for yours. That completely broke a long time ago.

Thanks for this.

It may be worth linking this complete list of available emotes and their associated animated gifs in your description.
