I appreciate all the in game bow emotes and thanks. However, so you do not think I am being rude, I only have whisper, group and guild chat enabled. If anyone has tried to say a kind and subtle thank you I didn't see it. You are welcome. If you see me in game on the NA server and wish to say thanks you can whisper me if you like instead. Although I do reload my UI over and over testing changes, so I may not see it. You can try though. Thank you all for using the mod.

I Scry with my little eye...

ScrySpy is a mod I created for tracking Dig Locations similar to how HarvestMap tracks Harvest nodes. If you are satisfied with your elite scrying skills then this is not for you.

ScrySpy collects locations you visit. I have included what locations I found to test with. However, it records and draws the locations you find as you use the mod just like HarvestMap.

If you are like me knowing approximately where I have to go is helpful to me so I thought I'd share.

LibMapPins - LibMapPins
LibGPS - LibGPS
Lib3D - Lib3D
CustomCompassPins - CustomCompassPins
LibAddonMenu - LibAddonMenu

Scootworks for helping me learn both LibMapPins and Lib3D. It allowed me to have map pins in 2D and once you are at the Digsite locations a 3D pin.

- Updated method to display notification that the Scrying information is unavailable. You will be told to get closer to the polygon for the digsites and then use /ssrefresh. This mainly happens when you scry in a city since the city map doesn't have the ZOS compass pin assigned to the CITY MAP it is assigned to the ZONE you are in.

I cannot see the pins through objects. For HarvestMap, I have "Use depth-buffer for 3D pins" turned "OFF" because I prefer to see pins through the terrain and such. Unfortunately, ScrySpy's pins don't act the same way.
Would it be possible for you to also include that option in ScrySpy?
Nope because I use a system to simply turn them on when you are close to the digsite and turn them off when you are not. I see them through the terrain. So maybe the way Shinni manages HarvestMap stuff with Lib3D affects ScrySpy but that's not really a bug to me. If I could I would not show the pin until you were within a certain distance because I don't like them showing through terrain. In fact if ZOS gave us a better 3D API I would ask them to add things so that collision layers were used so you can't see the pin behind a rock.

It's sorta functioning as intended for now. Sorry.

Hi Sharlikran!

Thanks for the fast reply.

I got it running in the meantime, it required two full client restarts, not sure why. Most other addons would activate by just going back to login, mabye it was something on my end.

Anyway, it works now so I'm happy Really useful, cause I can't for the life of me remember all those spots in every single zone.

It should have worked in the past the way it was, but just in case I altered how the notification that the scrying location is unavailable is displayed in chat. So if you see the notification and are told to use /ssrefresh then you are standing somewhere that has nothing to do with the digsite. For example if you are in Western Skyrim but you are in Solitude, the City has nothing to do with the digsite location so the game will not provide me with access to the digsite from the Solitude map. You have to leave the city first. If you go to another small city outside of a major city the same will probably happen.

To make it easier on yourself, always jump (to a wayshrine) that is not in a city or town. Then if you don't see any pins that's because you have not discovered any at that location yet. As noted on the description page you collect the locations as you go. Any I have provided are simply a bonus.

Hello,

is the addon still supported? I installed it, including all dependencies, but not matter what, I can't get it to show anything on the map or in the 3D view.

I really like the excavation mechanic, but I hate remembering where all the different dig sites are. With some of the larger areas, you might run around for a while before you've finally spotted it and that's not really fun.

So I would be very happy, if you could look into this. Thank you

ZOS changed some things that broke the system I was using. It worked for me because I expect to see the pin appear when it is a new pin, disappear after I acquire the antiquity, and I do not have pins for the new DLC.

I'm still looking into how I can do it better but for now I have a temporary fix. If you see pins outside the polygon then I can't help that until I find a better way to determine the size of the polygon and how to scale everything depending on the map's zoom factor.

The map pins for Scry are only working about 10% of the time for me...very frustrating. Sometimes I'll finish a dig and THEN the pins show up. Weird.

I don't know when I will have time but I will look and see if ZOS changed anything about the MapPins for the digsites. I will also check LibGPS changes. If I find something different causing the issue then I'll see what I can do to fix it. Thanks for the comments.

I am seeing the same thing...no pin in active dig area. I am leveling a new character in Aerteum but no dig sites show. Like previous poster I get a brief location icon when starting a dig but nothing when looking for a site.

Not really because that is how it works. The icons only appear if you have an active site and only close to the site. I don't show every single pin in the game because if I do you can see them from other zones through rocks and mountains. Also I can not get the information about the digsite when it isn't available. Meaning that when you are in the city for example you won't have any pins on the map and there is a chat message tells you it isn't going to work.

Question Would it be possible to include more data by default?

I understand that the data included is limited, can we share our saved data(like you can with HarvestMap) and give everyone the ability to get more locations by default?


I have spent too much time looking for some pins, so I want to save the frustration for others.

Btw, this addon is amazing and I think with this data it could be superb
