LootWall  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 0.7
by: Vicodine [More]
About

LootWall is a highly-interactive, configurable, firewall-like loot filter. It allows you to predefine some basic rules for each and every item you loot or receive (except Quest Items):
  • Keep items at-and-above quality (default: artifact)
  • Ornate-Trait Items (default: Prompt)
  • Intricate-Trait Items (default: Prompt)
  • Nirnhoned-Trait Items (default: Keep)
  • Craft-type related materials (default: all Prompt)
  • Racial style materials (default: Prompt)
  • Trash Quality Items (default: Prompt)
  • Fishing Bait Items (default: Prompt)
  • Researchable Trait Items (default: Prompt)

The presets above have all (except for Quality) four options:
  • Prompt to prompt you the first time you loot given item of that type or with matching properties
  • Destroy to destroy the item of given type or with matching properties
  • Junk to mark the item of given type or with matching properties as Junk
  • Keep to keep the of given type or with matching properties

In addition, you can track more than Corpse / Container looting, which is the default behavior since v0.6.
You can customize whether to ignore or track the following loot sources:
  • Vendor
  • Fence
  • Mail
  • Crafting Table

Above all this, once you loot an item (and are out of combat) it will display a popup asking action for any item that doesn't match above rules. Choices are:
  • Destroy (Now/Always): Destroys the looted item (and possibly the entire stack)
  • Junk (Now/Always): Marks the looted item as Junk in your inventory
  • Keep (Now/Always): Does nothing, it just keeps the item as it was looted

The Now/Always means one simple thing: responding with (Now) action will prompt you again next time you loot the same item. Responding with (Always) action will remember the action you chose, and never will prompt you again, for the same item.

With the latest update, the options of the addon are even more customizable, you may set the add-on to (almost) NEVER see the prompt again (but the promt was the original idea of the addon ). And even more options are soon to come. I come up with ideas all the time.

Installation

Use Minion! Get it at http://minion.mmoui.com

For manual install:
  1. Unzip the file you have downloaded
  2. Locate the addon directory:
    • <Documents>\Elder Scrolls Online\(liveeu/liveus/pts)\AddOns\
    • if the AddOns folder does not exist, create one
    • ex.1 C:\Users\Me\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu\AddOns\ (Windows Vista +)
    • ex.2 C:\Documents and Settins\Me\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu\AddOns\ (Windows XP)
    • ex.3 /Users/Me/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/liveeu/AddOns (OS X)
    • linux users should be able to figure out their wrapper's document dir on their own, because I HAVE NO IDEA /and it's not supported/
  3. Copy the unzipped LootWall directory to the AddOns Directory
  4. Don't forget to enable it ingame (Add-Ons menu on Character Screen or In-Game)

Changelog
My developer's portal is up and running. If you want to find out what's coming up I've just published a news article for v0.6, which you can read at My Portal's Home, also the Bug Report and Feedback/Feature request sections are at your service.

v0.7
  • Added presets for Trait Research
    • Clothing Unknown Traits (default: Prompt)
    • Woodworking Unknown Traits (default: Prompt)
    • Blacksmithing Unknown Traits (default: Prompt)
  • Added trait name to prompt window (right, under Value)
  • Changed font alignment to left or right for Item Type, Equip Type and Value

v0.6.1
  • Removed all debug messages unintentionally left in release
  • Added preset options for Trash Quality and Fishing Bait items
v0.6
  • Preparing for localization. Moved many of the texts to it's own file. Almost 90% i would guess.
  • Added the option to track/ignore different loot sources
  • Changed Off/On preset behaviors to Prompt/Destroy/Junk/Keep, your previous settings will be migrated to Prompt (previously Off) and Keep (previously On), you may choose freely any option in between.
  • Fixed a behavior where the Add-On migh want to track inventories other than your own bagpack
  • The decision-making order is now clearly given. The Add-On acts as follows: Preset Rules > User Stored Rules > Prompt for Rule. The Preset Rules have an order of Quality > Traits > Trade Skill

v0.5 is the first public release. Here you will find changes after that.

Thanks

This AddOn was made possible by the extensive wiki esoui.com has on AddOn development. So THANKS! You can check the wiki out at http://wiki.esoui.com

I'd also like to thank my guild mate, Garkin for his help, support and for providing extracted base ESO - UI files.

Special thanks to Seerah and the community contributors for LibAddonMenu-2 and LibStub. It made creating a configuration menu easy! Check it out here:
- LibStub
- LibAddonMenu-2.0

Thanks to ingeniousclown for the original work and Randactyl for continuing with AdvancedFilters addon. It kinda helped me put together which ITEMTYPE is which crafting material. And I use it since it was released
- Advanced Filters

Thanks to Pawkette for the original and Flagrick for the continuation of LootDrop. I learned (probably badly) how to work with received loot. Altough i gave up on OnItemLooted, the SINGLE_SLOT_UPDATED works (probably) just fine I didn't do all the fancy-pantsy stuff that LootDrop does. Nope. Works for me, it "should" work for you too
- LootDrop

Latest version also contains cironia's LibNeeded4Research. Thanks for this awesome library, helped a lot to implement researchables

The rest and most thanks goes to you guys that willingly install my first-ever add-on. Sweetrolls all around Don't forget to report problems and post feedback, comments section at esoui.com for now, next release will see a dedicated forum post.

Note
This addon might not be for everyone. I did it for myself, and pretty early on decided to try and share it with the rest of you. This is my first experience with LUA -or- in fact Add-On programming. Feel free to leave feedback, requests and bug reports.

I have not tried this addon yet. I won't be able to log in for many hours. I simply wanted to ask this question ahead of time.

Will this use the rules set up for looting NPCs (and I assume boxes and containers) on the bank and mail also?

Let's say I have 100 of a specific style item saved in the bank for future use.
Let's also say I have the addon set to automatically delete any of that style item I loot because I don't want any more.
Now, if I open the bank will the addon delete the items from the bank since it's set to delete that item now?
Will it delete the items if I remove them from the bank to use them?
Or does the addon ignore "looting" stuff out of your bank?
How about if a friend sends me one because I suddenly need one. Will it delete that when I take it from the mail?
Does it also apply delete rules on the results of deconstructing stuff at crafting stations?

If it deletes items from the bank that could be disastrous if you have loot rights in a guild bank.

Sorry for drilling you with questions even though I have not used the addon yet.
This addon looks pretty useful. It appears to allow us to be more specific on what to trash.
I'm a bit bored at the moment and unable to access the game so went crazy with questions.
I hope you enjoy your entry into addon writing!

That's a fair point. As of now, if you receive any item from any source the add-on will detect that and use either a preset rule, a rule made by you via diallog or promt you for action. This affects items that have gone into your primary inventory tho, so if you open a bank it will not touch it.

I'll modify this behaviour in the next update, as I see your point. Probably making options for loot sources, if possible. It might end up only being able to recognize only "looted" items.

Thank you for your comment!

Version 0.6 is out

I've sorted the different loot-sources that are possible in this game. The add-on now in default ignores everything except for Corpse or Container or Lootable loot. You can turn on tracking from Vendors, Fences, Mail and Craft results (Craft / Deconstruction / Refining).

I've also decided to change the plain and simple Keep on/off to give more choices. Prompt,Destroy,Junk,Keep are the new options.

Then some minor work on the code was done, nothing big ...

Thank you to all the users that have downloaded and may be using my addon.
You can even contact me in-game, add me to friends, talk, give me something interesting or demmand something from me, or give me just a thumbs up, I will never ignore anyone

I'm @Vicodine on the EU megaserver.

Again, thanks to everyone.

It appears as if I completely forgot about vendor-trash and lures. Doi.

That's one more for the to-do list.

v0.6.1 is coming up

I was surprised today to see i left some debug messages in release code. D'oh. These are now all gone.
From the to-do list i can cross off Trash and Bait, for which I included preset options in this release.

Cheers, Garkin, thanks for the warm welcome. Yes it's me

There probably won't be another update through the weekend, or before Monday. Happy Easter to anyone celebrating that kind of thing

And as always,
Thank you.

0.7 and plans for 1.0

Even though it's weekend and easter is coming, I've just today published a new version (0.7) of the add-on.
As I feel it has all that it needs to have, one last focus is to add a custom rule edit window.

The next version will be version 1.0, and it will come when the rule edit window is ready and fully play-tested.

The first implementation might be just a plain View / Edit action / Remove window of all your responses to prompts. That's what I'm going for initially.

Thanks to Garkin, I've gained acces to the core UI files, so there might even be some improvements to the popup prompt window etc.

Also, after 1.0, I'd like to offer the entire Add-On translated to, at least, french and german. Any volunteers with experience ?

Happy Easter!

And as always,
Thank You.

This seems like a nice, lightweight addon that I would be interested in. Most of the other loot management systems seem too bulky and have just way too many conflicting options.

On that note, there is an addon today that caught my eye which would work nicely with this. It is called Master Thief. I would love to be able to use both of these in conjunction with each other and will send a message to that author as well.

Good work!

Hey there folks,

there's been no update in a week. Mainly because I have set my goals pretty high for an AddOn newb. The original version took two days to put together, now I'm struggling with the damn GuiXML for a few days in a row. New version should come out early next week with a re-worked loot prompt (which is causing me the most pain to figure stuff out) and a saved rule edit window (which is going pretty smooth).

If you like my AddOn, don't forget to leave feedback of the features you might be missing.

And as always,
thanks to everyone using my AddOn

I have been using your addon for an hour or so now (so not much ), but I really enjoy it. I like the firewall approach in particular.

I found two bugs so far:
  • Picklocks seem to be considered as either ornate trait items (unlikely, I know) or trash quality items since they were marked as junk and those two item types are the only ones I have set to "junk". I stole the picklock. Ignore option for this is off and I was asked for other stolen items already. Other addons doing the same thing were deactivated at the time.
  • After selling the junk to the vendor, the chat message printed is missing at least one space, quote: "[LootWall]Sold all junk." It is also printed when no items were sold (but some stolen items are marked as junk).

I am missing two options:
  • Destroy zero gold value items if they are not covered by any other filter (there are some 0 gold value weapons and armor in the game which are useless), or an option to set a minimum gold value at which an item will not be destroyed if not covered by any other filter
  • Set a minimum gold value threshold at which a stolen item will be not destroyed (if not covered by any other filter), or in other words: a minimum gold value for which a stolen item will be either kept or marked as junk, else auto-destroyed
Note: If you do not consider implementing this, I could achieve it, when I could combine your addon with Dustman (Garkin wrote that, he is very active in coding his addons, so he might be willing to help you accomplish compatibility between LootWall and Dustman, if possible). Dustman marks items as junk, sell it to the vendor (not optional) and can destroy items based on gold value, both for usual and stolen items.
Note 2: Or you could ask Garkin how he coded it. I do not want to piss you off, just save you some coding work and get myself the features I miss. So please do not think "Why don't you use just Dustman then?". I have usage for both addons, but only if they are compatible with/to each other which is something I doubt at the moment, but I am not sure.
Note 3: MasterThief does not work at all for me or I do not get the "addon is learning from fence" approach.

I know both options are not necessarily needed since I could assign a rule to those items at the prompt, but I am afraid that my rule database will get big real fast. Also, it would be more comfortable to have these options.

Another suggestion:
How about the possibility to (auto-)create a junk rule for an item each time it is manually marked as junk (using the ingame right-click option in inventary) and thus not prompting in the future? De-marking as junk should also remove that rule then.

Question for the prompt of the next stable version:
Will it be moveable in some way? This would be great, too, but not really necessary (for me at least) if it is too complicated.

Keep up the good work,
GT-Schorsch

I love the addon so far!

The only thing I notice is that there is not an option to make the settings account wide. Is this possible? Right now I am going through all seven of my characters and adjusting settings for every character which happens to be identical for all of my characters.

Other than that this one is by far the best loot management addon I have used and I can't wait to see future updates.

Whoa there, Such a wall of text after just one hour ? Nice. Thank you for your feedback.

Yeah, I am pretty much using the AddOn all the time and found some annoyances in the weeks I am going to fix.
The zero-gold is I'm afraid a too much of a "common" feat in the game. If I'll find a way to implement it as a lowest-priority rule then sure, it'll be there.

The problem with compatibility is, I guess, that the add-ons are handled in alphabetical order. So if Dustman does it's thing, then it's LootWall's turn, then Master Thief. I'll talk with Garkin to find out if it's somewhat possible to make loot-management add-ons compatible. But in my opinion, it's not too much of a possibility.

One approach i would see is to add an toggled exclusion list for items that should be handled by MasterThief. To be honest I don't even know what that add-on does Will check it out.

The bug with "stolen" items marked as junk is bugging me since day 1. You'll be happy to hear that I've sorted it post-0.7 and thus it will be fixed in the major release. I no longer rely on two internal funcions that tell me whether I have junk in inventory and then to sell all the junk. They tend to Lie To Me.

Also you should know that once the promt is on your screen, you are free to move it anywhere you want. The position gets saved and next time will pop-up at the place you moved it to previously.
I might add a button to the setting so let you move it before you loot something that needs to prompt you. Sure, why not

One "teaser" for the next version:
The prompt will hide itself if you enter combat, and will reappear again after dealing with your enemies and leaving combat. Just a thing I came up with while doing pledges.

Thank you for trying out LootWall and for your feedback.

Cheers.

PS:
To answer your last question, yes, and the "e" in Vicodine is silent and it helps overcome blacklists that have "Vicodin" in.
House was one of the greatest shows I've ever watched.

Probably not with 1.0 (next release) but yeah, will do! (For sure, not like when ZoS says they'll do something "soon" )

Thank you for using the add-on and especially for liking it

Question Edit the information?

Is there a way to safely edit the information? I accidentally selected the wrong option for a few of them items and would like to manually reset it.
