If you're using Discord and want to display more than just "Playing Elder Scrolls Online", this Addon is for you.
By using this Addon, your status on Discord will change to display Rich Presence information, including information about your character, your current location, your party, and more!

This AddOn comes attached with an executable Client, which is necessary to update your status on Discord. It's the same as how Tamriel Trade Centre, for example, handles its data.

Here's a small guide to get the addon working:

Install this addon
Start Discord
Start ESO
Start the Addon Client, found in the Client folder that comes with the Addon
(Optional) Configure the Addon by typing '/ds' into the in-game chat
(Optional) Create a shortcut on your desktop for the Addon Client

The Addon Client might get flagged by your Anti-Virus program (Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, Avast, etc.). If that's the case, add the program to your exceptions. If you are wary of my program, I completely understand. If you would rather build your own client, visit the project repo and follow the steps there.

If you encounter any issues, please report them on the GitHub Repository. Feel free to fork the project and expand on it if you think you could improve or add to the Addon or the Client.

(FTR, ESO actually runs OK on even slightly older Macs, so there's a good player base. And Discord is…, well…, Discord.) Looking forward to running it on both OSes soon.

Hey there. first of all, thanks for trying this addon!

For 1., did you use the installer found on the GitHub page? If so, make sure that it installs the AddOn in the correct folder. By default, it installs it to "C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online", but you can change this path if your ESO Documents folder is somewhere else. In case you have installed the AddOn there and your ESO Documents folder is actually somewhere else, you'll need to delete that folder since the client will think that that's the correct AddOn location.

For 2., I noticed that Minion installs the AddOn with the ZIP name, which isn't what it's supposed to be (since the client will think the AddOn isn't installed). I've updated the filename to match the client, so you might want to try that again.

For 3., if you're reloading and the SavedVariables aren't appearing, then the AddOn probably isn't in the correct place. See 1. for help with this.

This is the step I was missing. First install put it in the wrong place, and i kept getting the error even after i re-installed it in the right place.

Long story short, the directory now believe that the folder for ESO is the ADDONS folder and not ESO itself, leading to the client confusing itself. I know you have to delete the incorrect directory so it stops believing that, but...I have, and let it recreate a new live folder and new addons folder. It still reads incorrectly. Any other way to fix this? Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply. The app should automatically launch via Steam if it was purchased and installed through Steam.

If you're looking to launch ESO via a custom Steam shortcut, you can do that as well. In the app, right-click where it says "Auto Start ESO". This will bring up a little text box where you can enter your custom Steam shortcut ID.

To retrieve this shortcut ID:
1. Add your non-Steam game to Steam
2. Right-click the game in Steam and select "Create Desktop Shortcut"
3. Go to your desktop, right-click the shortcut for ESO and click on "Properties"
4. In the URL box for the window that pops up, it should look something like this: steam://rungameid/11195432298348544000. Copy the number.
5. Paste the number you copied into the text box that appears when you right click on "Auto Start ESO".

This doesn't seem intended. I also noticed that the in-game interface states that the addon version is 0.3.8 whilst minion says 0.3.9.

That's, unfortunately, the best way to keep it automated and functioning. The Priority Save method that the ESOUI API provides is the only thing that makes this work automatically. The other option is to do /reloadui manually every time you would like to update. If you tick the other option, you can make it reload the UI for you whenever you switch zones, but that effectively doubles your loading times. It's a pick-your-poison kinda situation.

Honestly not sure what I can do about that. If you can send me any error logs, I might be able to look into it, but no promises. The temporary solution is to set your Windows 10 to English of course, but I wouldn't expect anyone to do that just for a Discord Status 😁

Frackou Forum posts: 6 File comments: 105 Uploads: 0	hi there is a problem when i launch exe and it asks to install addon because it doesnt find my addons folder and install it in "Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\live\AddOns\DiscordRichPresence" so it doesn't work never had this problem with older versions how can i remove all files and have the way to select the good folder again ? deleting addon+variables isnt enough yea for sure i selected the wrong folder at start Actualy i had to copy/paste the client folder to the 'live/live/" folder to make it works Last edited by Frackou : 04/30/21 at 11:21 AM.
