WritWorthy  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 7.4.6
by: ziggr, Sharlikran
System Requirements:

Why WritWorthy?
  • Is a master writ worth doing?
  • Does this character have the required skills?
  • Have enough required materials?
  • Want to craft it automatically?

Are Holiday Writs supported?

Currently, support for Holiday Writs is not available due to the absence of information on the required item quantities, which has not been necessary for regular master writs. If ZOS introduces an API providing this information before accepting Holiday Writs, we'll consider adding support. Refer to the UESP Wiki for more details.

Is this master writ worth doing?

Most writs consume less than 1000g worth of materials for each writ voucher they return. But some consume 2000g+ materials per voucher and might not be worth doing.

Shopping guild stores for Master Writs? What is the per-voucher cost of a writ, including both materials and purchase price?

This add-on adds text to each Master Writ's tooltip, showing the total material cost, purchase price (if any), and the cost per writ voucher reward.

Awesome Guild Store search filter

Shopping guild stores for master writs?

WritWorthy adds a filter to sirinsidiator's AwesomeGuildStore. Lets you filter on the WritWorthy-calculated cost per voucher, which includes both material and purchase cost.

Does this character have the required skills?

Not interested in writs that you cannot craft?

This add-on shows big red warnings when writ requires a motif, trait, or recipe that the current character does not yet know.

It also shows orange warnings for missing skills that are not required, but which reduce the cost of expensive writs, such as Resin Expertise.

(No, WritWorthy does not check inventory for required materials, or space to hold the the crafted item. I assume a master crafter can handle their own inventory management.)

Have enough required materials?

WritWorthy adds a material list to a writ's tooltip, showing any missing materials in red.

There is an option to show only missing materials if you don't want to waste half of the tooltip box listing materials you already have.

/writworthy mat NEW FOR WRITWORTHY 7

Type /writworthy mat to show a list of materials required to craft all queued writs. Show all required materials, or just the few that you lack and need to acquire.

Want to craft it automatically?

  1. Bind a key to "Show/Hide WritWorthy" or type /writworthy in chat.
  2. Use that key binding to see a list of all Sealed Master Writs in the current character's inventory.
  3. Check the ones you want to craft automatically next time the character visits the appropriate crafting station. Or "Enqueue All" if you want to craft them all.
  4. "Sort by Station" to see which crafting stations you need to visit.
  5. Walk up to a station, 'E' interact, and watch Dolgubon's LibLazyCrafter make your items.
  6. Wait patiently while the automatic crafting occurs. If you cancel interaction while still auto-crafting, you might end up auto-crafting an item twice, wasting materials. There is no indication for "all done". Sorry.
  7. Once you have crafted items for your writs, you can open them, accept their quest, and the quest will automatically advance to "Turn in".

Automatic crafting requires that the appropriate cost-reduction skills have been maxed out: Temper Expertise, Chef, Brewer, or Chemistry.

HomeStationMarker tells you where to go

WritWorthy can use HomeStationMarker to show markers over the stations that you need to visit in order to craft queued master writs.

Thank you
  • Dolgubon for LibLazyCrafting

5.2.3 2019-11-07

5.0.11 2019-06-12
  • New "Use Mimic Stone?" checkbox column lets you use a Crown Mimic Stone instead of a style material for this writ.

Thanks, Molleggiato, for the bug report.

  • LibLazyCrafting: Use ESO setId values instead of LLC-proprietary when LLC supports ESO values.

5.0.4 2019-05-05
  • Delay API calls into LibSets until after LibSets' initial scan completes. Avoids UI Error if you try to show a Master Writ tooltip while LibSets is still scanning. Thanks, Baertram for the find and fix!

5.0.3 2019-04-30
  • DE German translation, made Better By Baertram. Thank you!

5.0.2 2019-04-29
  • Expect and report bugs! I touched a lot of code to support multiple languages.
  • DE German "translation"
WritWorthy now honors the ESO Client's language for things such as material, set, trait, and other names.
Includes a _terrible_ Google Translate DE German translation for the rest of the WritWorthy UI such as window titles and controls.
  • Baertram's LibSets is no longer optional: required so that WritWorthy can show set names in German or whatever language.

5.0.1 2019-04-15
  • Update 22/5.0.0/API 100027/Elsweyr
  • Use Baertram's LibSets for set info (number of traits required for a requested set). Optional. If LibSets isn't loaded, WritWorthy still has its own table of the same data.

4.3.3 2019-03-20
  • Integrate with sirinsidiator's AwesomeGuildStore 1.0-beta so that once again you can search guild stores for writs whose purchase price + crafting cost is under N gold per voucher. Thank you TNTKokser for the bug report, and sirinsidator for AwesomeGuildStore and its easy-to-use API.

4.3.2 2019-03-03

  • Update 21/4.3.1/API 100026/Wrathstone
  • Alchemy: craft 16x, not 32x, poisons for Update 21 on PTS.
(Current live server, Update 20/4.2.12/API 100025/Murkmire, continues to craft 32x poisons, since live still requires 20x poisons per master writ.)
  • Kvatch Gladiator requires 5 traits, not 6.
    Thanks, azatee, for the report!

4.2.7 2018-12-19
  • bugfix: error in WritWorthy.TooltipInsertOurText() for New Life Charity Writ.

4.2.6 2018-11-29

4.2.3 2018-11-15

  • Minor text fixes.

4.1.2 2018-07-24
  • Support Arkadius' Trade Tools. Untested. Thank you, Patros, for the code.
  • Update M.M. fallback prices to PC NA 2018-07. Done mostly so that I could see how the PTS increase to Jewelry voucher rewards affects cost per voucher. (1500-5000g per voucher. Still 4x-8x what other tradeskills cost.)
  • Update to latest Dolgubon's LibLazyCrafter 2.2.
  • Minor text fixes.

4.1.1 2018-07-12
  • Update 19/4.1.1/API 100024/Wolfhunter

  • Sirinsidiator's LibSlashCommander now optional.

4.0.12 2018-07-04
  • Bugfix: string.format() error for jewelry crafter writs. Thank you, Dolgubon, for the report.

4.0.11 2018-07-04
  • Bugfix: Performance improvement cache never invalidated itself to load fresh prices. Now the cache lasts for 5 minutes before resetting.
  • Updated to LibSlashCommander 1.0 r5. Fixes the "cannot up-arrow through chat history" bug.
  • Typofix: "vitified malondo" broke parsing of Psijic Order writs.
  • Fix: Pyandonean motifs fixed.
  • New: "Unknown motif: 73" error tooltip for motifs such as Welkynar that appear in writs but whose crafting details are not yet in-game and programmed into WritWorthy. Also omit such writs from WritWorthy autocraft window: they are not yet worthy.

4.0.10 2018-06-01
  • Performance improvement. Internally cache Master Merchant prices to avoid duplicate lookups. Affects both the big WritWorthy window as well as the filter for Awesome Guild Store.

4.0.9 2018-05-22
  • Update to LibLazyCrafting 2.1. Fixes "LibLazyCrafting function missing" errors
  • Include style information for new styles. Fixes "inserted value must be specified" and "bad argument #1 to ipairs" errors in materials code. Thank you, XomRhoK for bug reports.

4.0.8 2018-05-19
  • Summerset: use final texture string to detect jewelry writs.

4.0.7 2018-05-18
  • bugfix: ESO+ subscriber bank now works. Thanks, Snow, for the fix!
  • bugfix: "Show material list in chat" setting works again. Thanks, XomRhoK for the bug report.
  • error reporting: "LibLazyCrafting function missing" now dumps more details to help ziggr figure out what's going wrong.
  • new: /writworthy count -- shows number of writs you have, and how many vouchers they're all worth.
  • add Sirinsidiator's most excellent LibSlashCommander 1.0 r4. Allows for command descriptions.

4.0.6 2018-05-04
  • Update to LibLazyCrafting 2.0 with its shiny new support for jewelry crafting.

4.0.5 2018-04-28
  • AwesomeGuildStore code review from Sirinsidiator: fix spacing so that WritWorthy and Master Merchant filters don't draw on top of each other. Internal caching to accelerate filter.

4.0.4 2018-04-27
  • AwesomeGuildStore filter! You can now search guild stores for master writs that cost X gold or less to purchase + craft. Look for a "Per Voucher:" field when on the Consumables/Master Writ shopping tab.
  • Preliminary Jewelry Crafting support. Disabled in this release.

4.0.3 2018-04-21
  • Fixed: motif names appear in "Detail 3" column again. Thank you, tomtomhotep for the bug report.
  • "Mat total: ?g" tooltip text now appears in red to better warn you that the per-voucher pricce ignores crafting cost. Thank you XomRhoK for the feature request.
  • Add "+ bank" to window subtitle when showing writs from both the character inventory and bank.

4.0.2 2018-04-20
  • Fixed: M.M. Fallback works again.
  • New option: showing price in tooltip is now optional. Because some people use WritWorthy more for the crafting and less for the pricing. Thank you @Jerkling for the feature request.
  • New option: Include bank when listing writs available to craft. Be careful with this: no warning if you craft the same banked writ on multiple characters. Thank you @UESP for the feature request.

4.0.1 2018-04-17
  • Update 18/4.0.0/API 100023/Summerset

  • Rename "Julianos" to full "Law of Julianos" to better match the stations's displayed name.

3.3.2 2018-02-22
  • Add HotR motif style IDs. Thank you, Rhyono for the numbers from CraftStore
  • Remove unwanted LibAddonMenu.txt manifest file from like 2 years ago that was 1. in the wrong directory, and 2. shouldn't have been there at all. Thank you, Marazota for the find and fix.

3.3.1 2018-01-29
  • Update 17 / ESO 3.3 / Dragon Bones / API 10022

  • Exit crafting station after auto-crafting all we can at this station.

3.2.5 2017-12-16
  • by Dolgubon: Adapt to API in LibLazyCrafting 1.9.
  • Fixes the Provisioning and Alchemy checks.
  • Fix possible issues with the LLC callback, honor crafting response code.

3.2.4 2017-12-15
3.2.3 2017-12-13
3.2.2 2017-11-09
  • Update to LibLazyCrafting 1.5. Same library version as in Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter v36.8 and Dolgubon's Lazy Set Crafter v1.0.19
  • Allow WritWorthy window to be moved partially offscreen. Zig finds it very handy to slide the window off to the right and just focus on crafting station names when doing dozens of master writs at a time.
  • Stop making an unnecessary extra crafted provisioning/alchemy item. Thank you Dolgubon for finding a 100% reproduction case.

3.2.1 2017-10-29
  • Update to LibLazyCrafting 1.4. This fixes the error "WritWorthy_Window.lua:1118: attempt to index a nil value"

3.1.5 2017-10-16
  • "Show material list in chat" has a new "Alchemy only" option for folks (like me!) who only check the material list for alchemy.
  • Bug Fix: check required materials right before attempting to craft alchemy or provisioning items. If you don't have enough Bugloss or Frost Mirriam, write that to chat and skip that item.
  • LibLazyCrafting: update to version 1.3 (circa October 2017)

3.1.4 2017-08-26
  • Refresh button
  • "prosperous" -> "invigorating"
  • LibLazyCrafting: update from version 0.4 to 1.2, adapt to some API changes
  • LibLazyCrafting: fix bugs/missing features in 1.2, bump version to 1.3. This is not an official Dolgubon library release, so I expect bugs/surprises next time Dolgubon updates any of their crafting add-ons.

3.1.3 2017-08-15
  • Manavortex's fix for autocraft window's error: "attempt to perform arithmetic on a nil value" if you run without Master Merchant.

3.1.2 2017-08-14
  • "Motif X not known" fixed. I was off by +1 for all motifs.
  • HotR Motifs added: Redoran, Hlaalu, Telvanni. Not sure if they'll show up in writs, but if they do, WritWorthy will now check Master Merchant for their style material prices, just likt it does for all other motifs.

3.1.1 2017-08-14
  • ESO 3.1 Horns of the Reach/API 20
  • Squelch errors for "table index is nil" for new item style constants.
  • Autocraft: no longer add mystery +1 to motif index. No longer required or correct.
  • KNOWN BUG: "Motif Barbaric not known" even though you do know this motif. For some reason the ESO API returns "false" for IsSmithingStyleKnown(barbaric=17+1) even if you know that motif. All motifs off by one.

3.0.7 2017-07-16
  • Public API Support: new function WritWorthy.ToMatCost(itemLink) returns material cost for a single writ.
  • Bugfix: Make WritWorthy global be the actual add-on, not the LibAddOnMenu pane. Thank you sirinsidiator and silvereyes for the report+fix!

3.0.6 2017-07-10
  • Bugfix: would inconsistently fail to report "Motif XXX not known" for some motifs. Thank you Rhyono for helping me debug this.

3.0.5 2017-06-22
  • Replace hardcoded skill indices with a runtime scan for localized skill name. Turns out those indices change from player to player, are not constants. And there are no "skillId" analogs to "itemId" constants. Oh well. Fall back to string matching. Hopefully this will end the many reports of nil errors on other people's ESO clients. I included the names for EN, DE, and FR. I do not have a JP client, so I lack those names, sorry.

3.0.4 2017-06-20
  • Bugfix: operator < is not supported for nil < nil. Thanks to Tonyleila for the report.

3.0.3 2017-06-18
  • New window with list of all master writs in backpack.
  • Automatic crafting of writs.
  • integrate Dolgubon's LibLazyCrafting 0.4, which is actually Dolgubon's LibLazyCrafting 0.3 but with Zig-added support for alchemy and provisioning. If those don't work, it's Zig's fault not Dolgubons. Thank you Dolgubon for all the help!

3.0.2 2017-05-28
  • Morrowind API: replace temporary workaround numbers with actual constants for new styles. Thank you @Rhyono for the CraftStore Morrowind update which had all the quest IDs I needed for the "which pages do you know?" query.
  • BugFix: never had a quest ID for the "Order of the Hour" motif. Now I do.

3.0.1 2017-05-21
  • ESO 3.0 Morrowind/API 19
  • Temporary workaround: some item style constants changed in the new API and until I can figure out the new ones, use magic numbers. WritWorthy might report incorrect known/unknown results for these three motifs: Skinchanger, Grim Harlequin, Hollowjack.
  • Provisioning: require 2x crafting attempts, since most Provisioning writs seem to require 8 servings. (I assume any character performing master writs will have Chef/Brewer/Chemistry passive skills maxxed out.)

2.7.10 2017-04-04
  • Option to fall back to hardcoded prices for common style and trait materials.

2.7.9 2017-03-22
  • AHA Found the "Trait not known" bug for medium armor: when a writ required a trait for some medium armor piece (such as belt), WritWorthy erroneously checked the light armor piece (such as sash).

2.7.8 2017-03-22
  • Debug log: records details about the 20 most recent writs. If there's a problem with a writ, send a screenshot of the offending writ (or the UI error), and a screenshot of the writ that caused the problem. This ought to help me figure out what's going wrong.

2.7.7 2017-02-25
  • Stop crashing auf Deutsch. When building recipe ingredient lists out of ZOS-returned data, use item links, not names, as element keys. All WritWorthy text is still in US English. The only change here is that it can run correctly when the ESO client is set to German.

2.7.6 2017-02-25
  • Survive without Master Merchant. If missing, or if its database lacks some required materials, display "?g" for "unknown amount of gold" and don't count materials costs when calculating per-voucher cost.

2.7.5 2017-02-24
  • Add big red text to tooltip if current character cannot craft the required item due to missing motif, traits or recipe.

2.7.4 2017-02-20
  • Add a table of recipes to Provisioning so that the provisioning writs can show a material list even if the current character does not know the required recipe. Fixes "Recipe not found" errors for such writs.

2.7.3 2017-02-16
  • Settings UI: checkbox to enable/disable material list dump to chat. Too much clutter in the chat window.
  • Bugfix: Alchemy materials had poison/potion = Alkahest/Lorkhan's Tears swapped.

2.7.2 2017-02-14
  • Replace string matching with item_link parsing

2.7.1 2017-02-12
  • First release. Uses string matching that worked only for US English clients.

From what we can tell, master writs would always need to be manually accepted by the player. There's actually some code that relates to auto accepting them, but it's commented out, and not sure whether it works, and from asking around we don't think it was actually an active feature at any point.
However, once accepted, and you talk to rolis, the writs should be auto completed. This should still be working, though if you don't have lazy writ crafter turned on it might not work, as I'm not sure writ worthy has that code.

I've looked at WritWorthy_Alchemy.lua, but I'm unfamiliar with the code.
Writ Worthy prioritizes the cheapest options. Personally, I'd suggest keeping it at that, as some mats are comparatively unreasonably expensive, but if you are looking to change it, you'll want to look at changing the logic of line 379 in WritWorthy_Alchemy.lua

I am not the original author so I won't know. However, many people think WW is doing the work and it doesn't. Everyone was going crazy about the master crafting stations when all the while WW was never involved.

I'm sorry but while I'm happy to keep WW working with the current libraries like LibLazyCrafting, LibCharacterKnowledge and LibSets, I won't be investigating things like that.

I ended up looking at the InfoBar code and I see how the memory is being calculated. Thanks for the link.

Nope, no settings exist because WW is not the mod in control of any of the processing of the Writs. I have no idea what that is specifically Lazy Writ Crafter or LibLazyCrafting.

When I asked my peers sirinsidiator mentioned that the cause of the freeze would come from, "some function doing too much work during one frame." The only real way to determine what is happening is the ESOProfiler and I can't set up the current version on my ancient computer. It's not impossible to set up but I think it would be complicated for most beginners. In addition to that as I mentioned, I don't want to overhaul WW. So I prefer to look at this myself with 10 or so writs when I have time.

The memory usage is not the issue. Even if you or others have used something like InfoBar to show memory usage and it's been around 800 and now it's 1000, that could be anything. Guild history has already started caching which will impact load times. Could be other mods that need that memory. Could be other ZOS features. Plus fonts will change and we will be using Slug files rather than traditional font files. Although I think that impacts the memory usage of the game and not the memory allocated to Lua.

Since 300 mods is not related to WW: https://www.esoui.com/forums/showthr...8748#post48748

I don't mind making sure all variables that should be local are setup that way. However, any of the performance or memory usage you and others have expressed is not something I will be troubleshooting or trying to resolve. If ever ziggr returns and can account for that and resolve it then that's fine. I am not taking over his mod anyway. I just want to ensure it's working with the changes.

I don't mind you and a few others sharing that information but I will remove future posts as it's not something I will be troubleshooting. Especially since I don't have 500 writs I could test with anyway.

At this point as I mentioned already I have not been making significant changes to WW. Checking that all variables are local would be the only changes once I do that. Any code that has existed before the patch is the same as it has been. LibLazyCrafting handles the crafting portion, LibSets and LibCharacterKnowledge handles conditions as to whether or not you qualify to craft the writ.

I understand you may not want the pause you reported and it's new as of the patch and updates. ZOS added the feature for centralizing the crafting stations and the external libraries were updated enough to account for that. The libraries have nothing to do with WW. I also understand that if processing 500 to 1000 writs in the past never paused the game like you are mentioning then you or any user will feel something had to change.

I get that, but since I do enough of my own coding I know that users are queuing up 500 to 1000 writs and then they intend to process them on three crafting stations. To me looping over 500 to 1000 writs, looping over all the sets the station knows (for gamepad functionality), checking if the writ is applicable to the station you are at, and then setting the station to the item required for the writ will be performance heavy. Also provisioning writs are not covered if I remember correctly so that may add to processing the 500 or more writs. So that's not a surprise to me. None of that code is in WW.

None of this was possible before so anything that ziggr wrote was for the older system. I'm not going to overhaul that and break things when I can't even test that without some way to have space for 500 to 1000 writs.

Sorry about that.
thats totally understandable thank you so much for that response at least now I know that I am just over doing it with too many queued writs. all 480 slots in my esoplus bank is writs and so is some in my inventory and thats probably not something ordinary users are going to do. and btw it also happens to provisioning writs it just so happens i dont have as many of those(only abt 130) and queued it with my equipment writs of which had no issues like this of freezing in the new GMCS(grandmastercrafters stations).

its also not a new thing so i think its not an issue because of U40. its something I have encountered long ago since the last double exp event when I did this in bulk. thats when I was deleting the WW savedvars every after batch I was doing but i remember it really didnt do much as well when it comes to freezing but it wasnt as bad as the freezes now. to think of it there is some memory issues that came with the new update must be not related to the addon at all. ever since u40 ive been unable to use most of the addons I had. I had almost 300 addons including libraries before the u40 and then after. i was only able to use just the basic necessary addons like UI and crafting addons. Combat/trial/pvp addons would not let me login. sorry for the long rant I should probably post this in eso forums and ask for other people's insights as well.

@jinncrazey - screen shot and pausing concern

The new guild history is already being stored for the upcoming changes but I'm not going to dig or try to speculate what else could change used memory.

People always feel a patch changed something. If it didn't do that prior to U40 then it won't be doing that now. I updated the house ziggr uses for users to travel to and a warning message. Otherwise that's it. Maybe 10 bytes of code as an example.

If you say your game may be laggy after doing some writs I understand that happens in your opinion but look elsewhere. It won't be because of about 180 characters in a save variables file for WW. Data collection mods can have as much as 26,000 KB of data in each of their 18 files. Which is way more than this mod.

Craft the writ and go turn it in. Don't be messing with the saved variables file. Also if you mess with it while you are logged in then you are not accomplishing anything. The game keeps all the data in memory. The only time you can edit files is when you log out. Which by the time you have completed writs and turned them in they will have been automatically cleared out. I really don't bother to look when that happens but I have done several writs to test things and I have zero completed writs that I have turned in still in the list.
sorry to assume it didn't but it could be something the addon does but not for me for some odd reason :O maybe my pc or connection issue prevents the mod from clearing it out after or IDK cuz when I was checking the timestamps there was a ton of writs saved still in the vars file from 2days ago. And yes I was editing it while logged out.
Also after doing the editing and completely removing all writs that are no longer queued or in my inven/bank.
I found that the problem persists and it seems to be only an issue when im doing enchanting/alchemy writs in bulk.

below I uploaded a screenshot showing -1800mb memory usage(not sure why negative but this is from InfoPanel addon)
Could I be just overdoing it? This is while 500 writs are queued from the bank and some in inventory. alchemy and enchanting writs. Even with logging in and out once I start to interact with an alch/ench station. the game freezes for 10-15s or more after a writ is done. I assume thats when the addon writes into the vars file thats why it freezes. could this be just my PC issue having problems with I/O. it doesnt seem to be issue with other addons i've noticed although writworthy is unique of course. Im sorry for all these assumptions. I just want to find a solution since the addon is awesome while doing other writs but it takes ages to finish alchemy/enchanting. one other thing I remember is that when I'm turning in a writ to the NPC, i dont let the addon close the dialog and I immediately open my inventory to accept the next writ. Could this be the issue why the addon doesnt finish writing/clearing that writ out of the vars file? another assumption sorry. I really wish I knew how to tinker with addons so I wont be bothering authors. so sorry. ya'll do hard work for free I know. I mod games in another site too. I hope u continue ur patience at us users. Unending thanks to you and all other addon authors here

While it is technically possible to do an upgrade attempt at less than 100%, that is now how writworthy is making the 'worthyness' calculation with the other trades, so I am assuming it has just not been updated. I believe I am running the latest version of the mod, but maybe something is wrong on my end. I had never found jewlery writs to be worthwhile in the past, before the game update. I thought some of them were now within reason, based on what numbers I saw in writworthy, as to the cost per voucher, but today I looked more closely and saw the calculation as 4 platings and the total value of materials, and I think something is wrong.
Nope nothing is wrong and no bugs, in a sense. People just don't understand that my day begins with getting up early and going to work to pay bills, not modding. Although I didn't know that the material requirements were hard coded since I'm not the original author. I have to see if LLC has an API for that.

What is TEB?
