Are Holiday Writs supported?

Currently, support for Holiday Writs is not available due to the absence of information on the required item quantities, which has not been necessary for regular master writs. If ZOS introduces an API providing this information before accepting Holiday Writs, we'll consider adding support. Refer to the UESP Wiki for more details.

Is this master writ worth doing?


Most writs consume less than 1000g worth of materials for each writ voucher they return. But some consume 2000g+ materials per voucher and might not be worth doing.

This add-on adds text to each Master Writ's tooltip, showing the total material cost, purchase price (if any), and the cost per writ voucher reward.

WritWorthy adds a filter to sirinsidiator's AwesomeGuildStore. Lets you filter on the WritWorthy-calculated cost per voucher, which includes both material and purchase cost.

Not interested in writs that you cannot craft?

This add-on shows big red warnings when writ requires a motif, trait, or recipe that the current character does not yet know.

It also shows orange warnings for missing skills that are not required, but which reduce the cost of expensive writs, such as Resin Expertise.



(No, WritWorthy does not check inventory for required materials, or space to hold the the crafted item. I assume a master crafter can handle their own inventory management.)

WritWorthy adds a material list to a writ's tooltip, showing any missing materials in red.

There is an option to show only missing materials if you don't want to waste half of the tooltip box listing materials you already have.

Type /writworthy mat to show a list of materials required to craft all queued writs. Show all required materials, or just the few that you lack and need to acquire.

Want to craft it automatically?


  1. Bind a key to "Show/Hide WritWorthy" or type /writworthy in chat.
  2. Use that key binding to see a list of all Sealed Master Writs in the current character's inventory.
  3. Check the ones you want to craft automatically next time the character visits the appropriate crafting station. Or "Enqueue All" if you want to craft them all.
  4. "Sort by Station" to see which crafting stations you need to visit.
  5. Walk up to a station, 'E' interact, and watch Dolgubon's LibLazyCrafter make your items.
  6. Wait patiently while the automatic crafting occurs. If you cancel interaction while still auto-crafting, you might end up auto-crafting an item twice, wasting materials. There is no indication for "all done". Sorry.
  7. Once you have crafted items for your writs, you can open them, accept their quest, and the quest will automatically advance to "Turn in".

Automatic crafting requires that the appropriate cost-reduction skills have been maxed out: Temper Expertise, Chef, Brewer, or Chemistry.

HomeStationMarker tells you where to go



WritWorthy can use HomeStationMarker to show markers over the stations that you need to visit in order to craft queued master writs.

jewelry writs is calculation wrong?

I was looking at a gold jewelry writ and the material requirements were listed as 4 gold platings, total mat cost was 260k. (PC NA, I think gold platings are around 40-50k now). I have max jewelry skills. My game tells me I need 8 gold platings now to raise from plurple to gold. I do not remember what it used to be before last big change, but I am guessing it was 4. While it is technically possible to do an upgrade attempt at less than 100%, that is now how writworthy is making the 'worthyness' calculation with the other trades, so I am assuming it has just not been updated. I believe I am running the latest version of the mod, but maybe something is wrong on my end. I had never found jewlery writs to be worthwhile in the past, before the game update. I thought some of them were now within reason, based on what numbers I saw in writworthy, as to the cost per voucher, but today I looked more closely and saw the calculation as 4 platings and the total value of materials, and I think something is wrong.

Just to pop by to say awesome.
Tested it yesterday with around 1k writs and it was a blast, even easier with the new crafting tables <3

Only thing I didn't do was jewelry writs. And one thing I noticed that at the end of it the game got a bit laggy and I was using over 1 gigabyte of addon memory (according to TEB - normally I sit around 200MB) so that was a bit silly but I guess understandable with the amount of writs I had listed..

The mod clears that out itself without you having to do anything. This mod is not abandon but it doesn't need to be maintained either and nobody really needs to be messing with it. The original author did a really good job but also, this mod uses other libraries for set information and LibLazyCrafting. So none of the code has even changed for the current patch. People always feel a patch changed something. If it didn't do that prior to U40 then it won't be doing that now. I updated the house ziggr uses for users to travel to and a warning message. Otherwise that's it. Maybe 10 bytes of code as an example.

If you say your game may be laggy after doing some writs I understand that happens in your opinion but look elsewhere. It won't be because of about 180 characters in a save variables file for WW. Data collection mods can have as much as 26,000 KB of data in each of their 18 files. Which is way more than this mod.

Craft the writ and go turn it in. Don't be messing with the saved variables file. Also if you mess with it while you are logged in then you are not accomplishing anything. The game keeps all the data in memory. The only time you can edit files is when you log out. Which by the time you have completed writs and turned them in they will have been automatically cleared out. I really don't bother to look when that happens but I have done several writs to test things and I have zero completed writs that I have turned in still in the list.

my game seems to get super laggy when I've done so many master writs. Checking savedvars file it seems it doesnt remove in the file the old writs that I've already turned in. I'm looking at the file and I see there is a time stamp. and status completed. right now trying to manually convert those timestamps and delete the ones I think are already done. is there any way that the addon does this on itself or a button or command? thanks for any help

Gamepad mode



Attention! The above settings will not work with the master crafting stations!

So I have dug enough to determine when you are in Gamepad mode and you force it to be active using the settings shown above then it will not work. It is a game limitation not a mod limitation. I can't guarantee that there is an alternative for Gamepad mode.

For now use Keyboard mode. Dolgubon is looking into an alternative.

Well, to be clear, I get the error when in gamepad mode; having applicable master writs queued in WritWorthy; walking up to the grand master crafting station; and pressing A on the controller (not the keyboard) but I think you already know that.

There is no way to explain the limitations of Gamepad mode in depth and the keybindings for it. As the error mentions the vanilla Smithing code can't access what it is looking for from Keyboard mode because that's not available in Gamepad mode. Which is why for the most part there is little support for Gamepad mode. This is a limitation of the Gamepad UI.

I can test with a gamepad and I have no way to use the WW UI in gamepad mode so I don't see how you get it open without opening it first in keyboard mode. In addition to that I don't get that error even if I do use A from gamepad mode first.

FYI,

For me the 1 button master writ auto crafting using the grand master stations always works using the E button in keyboard mode, however it doesn't always work using the A button in gamepad mode. It seems I can use the A button in gamepad mode only after first using the E button in keyboard mode. Although after that, if I logout and relog I cannot use A button in gamepad mode 1st. Also, I get this error message when 1st using the A button in gamepad mode:

No, that's not what's causing the problem.

There are two problems here:
  • First, line 526 of WritWorthy_Smithing.lua contains an error. It is currently
    Code:
                Log.Warn("LibSets lacks data for set_id:%d, using hardcoded: "..tostring(r.name))
    It should be changed to
    Code:
                Log.Warn("LibSets lacks data for set_id:%d, using hardcoded: "..tostring(r.name), set_id)
  • But the problematic line 526 which contains that error is just some code to print a warning message, so the question is, why is that warning message being triggered in the first place? Since the warning message is that it can't retrieve information about a particular set, I would suggest that you make sure that your LibSets is up-to-date.

As for why you think that it's the bank setting, that's because the master writing containing the unknown set is in your bank. If you withdrew that writ into your personal inventory, you would get this error regardless of what that bank setting is set to.

I don't have that error and I made sure I had writs in my bank I could craft. I made sure I had one in the bank that I couldn't make. This just boils down to users using Minion or the mod as a crutch. U40 just came out and from what I can see LibLazyCrafting, LibSets, LibCharacterKnowledge have been updated. I keep LibStub free copies of everything I use so I go through mods when there is an update and I more easily notices what has changed.

I can upload a new version but it won't have anything fixed in it since there is no bug or issue. It will simply require the updated libraries or it won't load. Rather then wait update everything.

If you manually install then read the WW description page and update all the libraries that are listed. That's all I did.

Hi,

I'd like to thank you for updating Writworthy so promptly after U40 so that it works with the new grandmaster crafting stations! You should know that I spend a lot of time on master writs. Like, a lot. There are 60 blacksmithing master writs being crafted automatically as I'm writing this. No more running around in huge guild halls, searching for the stations you need for your writs. So much time saved *tears of joy*
