Hotep® MailR Patch  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.09d
by: tomtomhotep, YesImBattman
This patch add-on lets you view your Saved and Sent mail that is being stored by MailR.

It shows saved mail and sent mail in separate sortable scrolling lists.

When you select a mail, it displays the body, Postage, Gold Attached or COD Amount, and what the attachments were, if any.

(You have to assign a keybind to open this add-on's window.)

Wonderful fix, thank you Hotep!!

I do have one little issue though, and am not sure if it's related to this patch, Mailr, or something ZOS did with the DragonBones update. My saved & sent emails are all gone! (EEK!) Any ideas? Are they perhaps stored in a file somewhere I could open in a text editor & copy them out?

Thanks!!

I still have all my saved & sent mail.

The only place your saved & sent mails are stored is in MailR's saved variables file (live\SavedVariables\MailR.lua)

When the MailR addon loads it's saved variables, it stores them in a globally-accessible variable, which is why my addon is able to snag them and display them!

But my addon does not save them anywhere else.

Did your MailR addon get uninstalled and its saved variables deleted?

Take a look at your live\SavedVariables\MailR.lua file and see if any of your mail is in there.

Oddly enough, without having done anything to either Mailr or your patch, when I looked at it again last night, all my mails were back. No idea why they didn't show up the day before and are now, but that's OK by me!

Just out of curiosity, do you know how to delete saved/sent mails? I haven't figured that one out yet, and I believe I read that the saved mails do count against your total mail. Thanks again!!

That's because that function hasn't existed since the old old version of MailR that stopped working on 2016-10-31.

MailR doesn't have the option to delete saved/sent mails because it doesn't display them anywhere, and I haven't had a chance to add it to my Addon yet.

Not at all. The mails saved by MailR are not in ZoS's mail system. ZoS has no idea they even exist anymore. (Which is why you can't see them in your Inbox -- only in my display window.)

(You ARE deleting the mails from your ZoS Inbox after saving them using MailR, right?)

Okay, that works for me. I don't mind having them there, I just thought they were counting against my in-game mail limit.

Fantastic!! I will definitely be spreading the word about your patch. It really makes Mailr worth using. Thanks so much for the patch & the responses!

(And I am deleting saved messages from my Inbox. I just thought I had fewer e-mails than I apparently do when people started telling me my inbox was full. lol)

Thank you so much for your hard work developing this brilliant plugin!

I can't imagine playing without it!

I have noticed recently that sometimes my client freezes or crashes when sending a mail. I wonder if this is because I've been using this plug in long time and I have lots of mails saved in the saved variables. Should I delete these from time to time? Any way to back them up and restore saved variable in the future or parse the older data file if I ever need to check something?

This is happening to me as well - just came here to see if anyone said anything about the issue.

Sorry, but it is not being caused by my patch add-on. My patch doesn't even have saved variables.

My patch only sneaks a peek at MailR's Saved Variables and loads the saved & sent mails into memory.
It does this once when you log in, and again each time you open my display window with the keybind.

Whether or not Ravalox's MailR addon is causing you to freeze when you send a mail.... I wouldn't know. I guess it's possible...

I thought I was posting on MailR addon btw when I responded to the above poster with same issue (had a couple tabs open at time).

Yes the freeze issue is definitely being caused by MailR or MailR in combination with the MailR patch that saves messages. Without those addons installed sending mail does not cause any crashes/freezes.

This does not always occur, but seems to be extremely likely since Summerset patch (more so than it was before).

Hey, I saw this was updated. Wonderful!
I was hoping if you ever get the time if you could possibly make the patch so that saved mails are available to view account-wide. As it is if I save it on one toon then delete it, when I try to pull up the saved mails on another toon the saved mail is not there. They appear to be character specific. Thanks!!

That's annoying for me, too. However, it is MailR that is using Character-Specific Saved Variables, so there is nothing I can do.

Hey there! I was just wondering if there is any way to delete saved/sent mails or is this something we could have in the future?
Thanks for a great addon!
