You're using LibStub and LAM but you did not include them. It's working for you (and will work for most people) due to other addons including them.

I know. Do not want to insert popular lib in small add-on. It is allways loaded form other add-ons.

Wrong Channels Selected For Tabs (CTS 1.2)

I have the following Chat UI tabs in the order listed:

1. Zone (/z)
2. Group (/p or /group)
3. Guild A (/g1)
4. Guild B (/g2)
5 Guild C (/g3)
6 Guild D (/g4)
7 Guild E (/g5)

While my character is not in a group with other player characters, a command to change to the Group channel (/group) is invalid. So I don't select that tab while my character is not in a group. Selecting it unintentionally should not have any adverse result, but the ESO design is not known for robust exception handling.

When I change the selected tab from Zone to Guild A, however, Chat Tab Selector changes the channel to /g2 not to /g1. And when I change the tab to Guild B, CTS changes the channel to /g3 instead of /g2.

Personally, I don't want to move the Group tab to the seventh one, but, if I recall correctly, doing that still produces the same outcome.

I hope that you can correct the code so that the channel will correspond to the guild on the tab -- regardless of its position on the Chat UI bar. If you cannot do that, then the behavior that I am about to discuss is probably NOT something which an add-on can alter or control.

While the current Chat window is too narrow to display all existing configured tabs. then the tab or tabs which are furthest to the right are replaced by an arrow pointing to the right after the "+" for adding a new tab.

If I rest the mouse cursor on that arrow, a list of hidden tabs is displayed, and I can select a hidden tab to be shown on the bar. Regardless of my selection, it will always be added to the 4th position, and both the current Tab 4 and any tabs displayed to its right are moved one position to the right. The tab(s) furtherest to the right will be added to a list of hidden tabs, if the window is not wide enough to show all of the tabs. (I don't know what will happen if the Chat window is too narrow to display more than three tabs.)

Also, simply clicking the LMB on the arrow inserts a default hidden tab (perhaps the one at the top of its list) in the "Tab 4" position and moves the current Tab 4 and any other tabs to its right as described above. In any case, the Chat UI has never replaced Tab 1, Tab 2 or Tab 3 with a hidden tab.

Basically, the problem is that (as far as I can determine) I cannot choose which tab that is currently shown to replace with a tab that is currently hidden. That is, there is no feature to "close" a tab, to move it to the list of hidden tabs, then access the list of hidden tabs and select another one to display instead. For example, I cannot choose to hide the current Tab 3 and replace it with another guild on the list of hidden tabs.

For what it is worth, I have not assigned any key-binds for selecting Chat tabs. Almost all of them are currently bound to some native feature or to another add-on.

I hope you enjoy the challenges of designing and implementing software.

uh...

>While my character is not in a group...
Then you can not use group chat. It is ZoS chat system. Not mine.

>When I change the selected tab from Zone to Guild A, however, Chat Tab Selector changes the channel to /g2 not to /g1
Then your "Guild A" have /g2 channel. Just bind button to "Guild B".

>I hope that you can correct the code so that the channel will correspond to the guild on the tab
It can be good idea, but when player use different names for tabs it will not work. And most players are, so...

All other "troubles" you can adress to ZoS directly here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.co...es/bug-reports

Right, it is their system and your add-on doesn't deal with the way that their system is designed. So what is your point? That you cannot design an add-on that works with the ZOS Chat UI?

I have not bound any keys to any chat tabs, i.e., I don't use that feature because I just use the mouse to change tabs. Your reply doesn't make any sense, because Guild A is channel /g1 -- again, that is the way ZoS designed the Chat UI to work.

Wrong. the ZOS Bug Report forum is not the appropriate venue to report a bug in an add-on or to seek help in resolving it. What that boils down to is that, if an add-on doesn't work, then don't use it. Since you don't seem to have the design and coding chops to make it work, good luck with that attitude of yours.

That said, I did say that it would be unlikely for any add-on to be able to handle the way that the ZoS Chat UI handles the situation when there isn't enough space to display all of the existing tabs. But I can dream, can't I? :-)

Hm, I think the user is talking about your addon Hoft, not any game bugs:

Example:

/g1 = guild1. It's the standard game behaviour.
If he uses several chat tabs, like tab1 = say and zone, tab2 = guild1, tab3 = Guild2, ..., tab7 = group:
Clicking on the tab2 for guild1 should change the chat channel tot he chosen one: /g1.
But it seems as if your addon changes it to /g2 then as long as he isn't in any group.

The thing with the + and non visible chat buttons could not be solved via an addon, there you are right.
@Shadowshire Try to use an addon like pChat where you are able to choose the width f the chat window by yourself so there is no hidden chat tab, or only a few ones that you don't use.

Exclamation Chat Tab Selector 1.9 Feedback

As far as I can determine, the CTS keybind changes the Chat UI Enter field to the configured channel. This is evident when I use the keybind to specify the channel, then press the keyboard < Enter > key. The name of the channel is shown to the left of the data entry field.

However, using the CTS keybind does not appear to change the corresponding chat tab per se that is displayed by the Chat UI. For example, after I use the keybind to specify the channel, then write a message in the Chat UI field for it and press < Enter >, my message is not displayed by the Chat UI unless the current tab has been configured to display messages from that channel.

Which is to say, I would prefer that CTS change both the channel and the display to a tab specified by the player as a configuration option, i.e., when we use the configured keybind. Choosing a corresponding tab is necessary since any given tab can be configured to show messages from multiple channels. It seems to me that it should be possible, but I don't know the features of the API.

With the default Chat UI, if I put the cursor on a tab and press the LMB once, the UI begins displaying messages from the corresponding channel(s) that I have configured for that tab. However, it does not change the channel currently enabled for the Chat UI Enter field -- probably because there can be more than one, such a zone and a guild, or zone and group, for any given tab. So I must enter a /command to specify the channel to which I want to send a message, but after I press < Enter > the stupid Chat UI designer returns me to the HUD, so I must press < Enter > again to record the message that I want to send. Whether that message is displayed on the Chat UI depends upon whether the channel that I've chosen is enabled for the current tab.

Thank you for your time and attention to my remarks.

Sure. But it changes not oly channel, but also it changes speceifed (in menu) tab. And you can configure each tab for that channels what you want (in tab options).

And. I know: ingame chat is very hard to fully understand. Just be patient ))
