ESO Graphics Extender  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0.1
by: Jizargo [More]
Disclaimer: I will do updates on this site first since I have direct access to it. So if this gets approved check ESOUI for updates in the future or my eso forums post.

(I highly recommend using Votan's Darker Nights addon. It will automatically adjust gamma levels according to the time of day)
Download Addon here:

In Settings > Addons > Votan Darker Nights > set New Moon to 80, Full Moon to 90.

ESO Graphics Extender 2.0.1

Finally the most massive ESO graphical overhaul has been released. With the newly released shader pack for Reshade 3.0.7 there are some really neat effects you can replicate in ESO. After weeks of tweaking and consulting with shader programmers I've finally finished this master piece. This is more than just a Reshade preset, it also contains slightly modified shaders for ESO and increases the view distance drastically, so there is no longer a blue tinted fog everywhere.
This preset is based off Ultra Real Lighting and Colors, adjustments were made mathematically with a bit of eyeballing on the side. There are several differences between this overhaul and any other preset. The aim of this project was to replicate visual enhancement mods seen in Skyrim/Oblivion/Morrowind with ENBs and such. SweetFX previously did not have the tools to do the things we can achieve now in ESO.

Important Updates

v2.0
Added qUINT lightroom shader
Updated for Werewolf patch

v1.9
Gamma fix pass 5
DoF adjusted (Home key to toggle)
Updated for Summerset patch

v1.8

Gamma fix pass 4

v1.7b
Updated for Clockwork City patch

v1.6b
HDR balance
Gamma fix pass 3
Support for
Votan's Darker Nights addon

v1.5b

Gamma fix pass 2

v1.4b

Performanc optimization
removed AO & DepthHaze.

v1.3b

HDR balance,
Gamma fix pass 1

v1.2b
Fixed depth buffer access(allows DOF w/o flicker)

v1.1b
Fixed HDR balance

How to Install

(As requested, I've provided a video tutorial here)
  • Copy the Reshade files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
  • Extract Hook64 and use Launcher64.exe to start ESO
  • Press RShift + F2 to bring up Reshade GUI, if you have drastic performance problems (5+ fps hit) go to Settings, Usage mode, then click performance mode.
*Note: If reshade disables the preset when the GUI disappears then click Settings and do the following
Input Processing: Block input when cursor is on overlay
Under User Interface check Show Clock or Show FPS (This will keep the GUI active to avoid the bug. Crosire is aware of this issue)

What is all this?

ESO Graphics Extender is a combination of multiple tools and shaders. We use Hook64 to increase the draw distance and remove some excess fog. Reshade is used to render the graphical enhancements, and this specific reshade has been modified to allow depth buffer access at all times. In the public reshade there is a netcode to disable depth buffer access to prevent reshade from being seen as a cheating device. ESO however is aware of reshade and hook64 hence you cannot exploit the game with it anymore nor is it against their rules.

For those of you who are familiar with SweetFX you may have seen other presets. However this reshade version has been developed along side some really neat shaders. We can now achieve things like DOF in ESO which was huge for me. As well as the preset being specifically developed for extended view distance. This is still a WIP so please take screenshots and report any problems that occur. I'm aware of the black texture issue and am looking to fix it if possible.

-Known Bugs-

1) Reshade doesn't render unless GUI is active.
Solution: Shift+F2 then click Settings, then change Input Processing to "Block input when cursor is on overlay". Now under user interface check show Time/FPS.

2) Crash on Startup
Solution: Rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll

3) No shaders showing up in reshade menu
Solution: Check d3d11.ini and dxgi.ini if the paths are set correctly for you game and shader folder.

4) DoF doesn't work (or everything is caught in DoF?)
Solution: Full screen breaks DOF, change to Windowed Fullscreen.

I love what graphical modifications can do to ESO. The same view of the mountain as in that picture without modifications is completely covered in fog...

I've scoured the forums for an official ZOS statement on graphical modifications, but all I've found is that they are "okay with it" in 2014, consider it "use at your own risk", and have nothing specific regarding it in TOS but leave it broad enough to allow banning if they want to.

Is there any certain answer on the safety of using this? As in, has ZOS made any newer statements that I've missed? Has anyone contacted ZOS support about the use of graphical modifications and received a clear answer?

This enhancement looks incredible, but I'm hesitant to use it unless there is a determined answer to this.

In 2014 there was an exploit where you could increase draw distance to see zergs from 100 miles away. They patched this.

There is also no depth buffer access exploits you can do anymore. So it's 100% safe to use this now. It was only those first few months that this was a problem. Also ZOS is definitely aware of this project as they've removed troll posts in my thread but didn't remove my thread.

Failing

Eso64.exe has stopped working.

Trying to run it on my CLEVO laptop with a 980m.

Both zip files have been unzipped to the game folder containing eso64.exe

What crashed on you? Does it crash when you use launcher64 or does it craft because of reshade?

I think it's because of reshade.

Launcher64.exe does work, it lists ESO64.exe. Then I press the button to launch the game, the screen goes black (typical launch behavior), and it crashes.

Are you the same guy who posted on the Nexus saying it crashes via hook64 and normal startup? This is a reshade issue, I know in the past there has been issues where if you used certain driver software or overclock software it would cause Reshade to crash.

Some questions.

1) What OS are you on?
2) What overclock/driver software are you using?
3) Has previous reshade versions worked, can you confirm for me?
4) Does the current reshade from reshade.me work for you?

Once you've done that, I also suggest heading over to https://reshade.me/forum/troubleshooting and creating a thread about this issue, and go ahead and send them your dxgi.log as well. If someone over there can tell us what the problem is I can fix it.

Also make sure you have https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

1) Windows 10 uptodate
2) No overclock, using last nvidia drivers.
3) Yes.
4) Just tested and it doesn't work also.

I'll go to the forums and post.

hook.dll potential threat with ESET Smart Security

Ok, ESET Smart Security calls hook.dll a potential threat. What experiences have you players had with this?

It's a false positive. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d...is/1497461455/

This is where Hook64 is dev'd: https://www.gamemodi.net/#hook64

Effects only when menu is open

No matter what I do, the effects only take place when the menu is open (Shift+F2). As soon as I leave the menu (Shift+F2 again), the effects are disabled, not matter if I press the enable/disable button (which is scroll lock) in my case.

Lightbulb It Works For A While Then ESO Crashes

Installed it as per instructions except my install is the long Steam path. Copied the files to the Client folder and started with the 64 bit addon launcher. For some reason the addon launcher always starts the PTS version of the game and tries to login automatically even though all the addon files are in the Live version folder and the game's exe path is not set to the PTS version. Haven't figured that one out yet. So what I do is quit the PTS version from the Login screen and then start the ESO Live server version from the standard ESO Launcher (64 bit version selected). Once game is up and running I press RSHIFT and F2 and then edit the paths of the shaders and textures to the correct folder locations as well as the game's executable location path. Then click on RELOAD and Voila'! It works! The SCROLL LOCK key works as intended and the effects are certainly visible. It works for a while and then I get a random ESO crash with the ESO crash report window popping up. Sometimes the game runs for an hour, sometimes a few minutes. I very rarely have crashes in ESO on the order of once every 40 hours or so of gameplay so I'm pretty sure it's the addon causing it. I have to say that the visual effects are amazing! I will keep working with it because it certainly is amazing. Anyone have any ideas I'm glad to read them. Thank you for making this addon available!

Hello, did you edit the paths for the shaders and textures under settings? And then click on Home and then "Reload"? Hope you get it working.

Yes I did, as I said, the settings actually 'work' when in the menu, just not out of it. That's the strange part. I will look further ...

-- Ok, found the problem. I created the custom ini file, THEN I changed the path from the default drive to my other drive where I installed the game. I thought the ini file would change automatically. I had to create a new ini file AFTER changing the path FIRST.

All this time, my original custom ini file was sitting in the OLD place.
