In version 1.1 I added a keybinding option to toggle the text, for those few NPCs that have no voice over. Set it in the controls menu, It's located under the General section, towards the bottom.


Information
I found myself reading the written dialogue text for every NPC I encountered before they finished talking. So in an effort to immerse myself a bit more, I made this simple addon. The pictures should speak for themselves.

Features
  • Hides the written dialogue text by default.
  • Key-binding for toggling the dialogue on the few occasions a NPC doesn't talk.

Thank you for this addon Ak0, I'ts exactly what i was looking for.

And thank you Daeymon for the gamepad support works like a charm.

Oh and to anyone that can't get Daeymon's controller support to work this is what I did.

-Copy all of Daeymon's code from features section. (Second code not first.)
-Go to where you installed Ak0'sNoWrittenDialogue.
-Open Ak0sNoWrittendialogue.lua with notepad.
-Scroll down to where it says
-- Function that sets the initial styling (Fires when you speak to a NPC)
Copy over that all the way to the bottom of the page to where it says end.

gamepad support???

I love this addon!! its a dream come true, its going to be even better when i can use it with my controller

Ive tried using Daeymon's code, not sure if ive made a mess of it or what, but cant seem to get it working

anyone have any ideas ??

Thank you for the Update

Thank you for the recent update, everything is working well with one small oddity. The keybind to disable/enable, it works fine when bound to almost any character except for numbers. I have only tried 6-9 along the top row, I have not tried the NUM 6-9 keys. Other addon keybinds work w/those numbers. I can't say if it was like this before the update, I just completely re-did all my key binds and tried to use 6-9 for a few.

It may be a conflict or something else on my side. Honestly it was so minor I just assigned another key ('Y' since I never command pets) and tried something else on 6-9 to make sure it wasn't my keyboard. It may not even be worth looking at unless you're just curious or feel like you want to.

No errors pop up. Just graphical mishaps. I took a screenshot. The styling from Slightly Improved Dialogues is there. Only a piece of the background and the first and last letter of NPCs' names are missing (should read as "Laanestii" instead of "aanesti" -- this even occurs when the NPC's title/name is two words, such as Coinclerk Aranwe which reads as "oinclerk Aranw".)

I added gamepad support to your addon. I made the changes in a way to minimize changes to your code, while also keeping to your coding style. The code has been posted to your feature requests. Feel free to include it in your next release.

Amazing addon. Is there a way to set the keybind to a key that's already used but not active during the dialog scene without unbinding the other key? For example, w or tab.
