Disable Controller UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.0
by: aJamDonut [More]
If you have a lot of immersion or statistic UI mods installed then when you use your controller you will find a lot of them are hidden behind the controller UI.

I am not a modder so I can't code a brilliant fix for this but here is a clone of "Activate Controller UI" by Tierney11290 but coded to have the opposite effect - disabling the controller UI.

I recommend that you get used to using the controller first, then using this addon to disable the controller interface once you're used to combat controls.

Why might someone use this?

1. You just want the controller for combat, and will use kb+mouse for every other task.
2. You do not like the controller UI.
3. You have immersion addons which are disabled by the controller UI.

Warning:

Other features (such as the UI showing you what buttons to press) will still be set to show the keyboard UI. This is best used with the keyboard in front of you while you game with the controller.

Any issues:

If the controller or UI seem to break. Simply disable and re-enable the Controller in Settings, then Re-Enable it (I think this only occurs after restarting the game with the Controller+Addon enabled).

Adding features (fixing the problem properly):

If enough people use this I can probably knock up some code to work better, I may not mod but I am a programmer so we should be able to get a better answer - for now though, I have some levelling to do.

Notes:

If you are just looking for a few changes to the interface or MM integration, please take a look at BETTERUI :: A Better Gamepad Interface by prasoc

Thank you.
Last update 01/18/16, long before the outfit system, so there likely won't be a fix. :/
Thank you.

This mod is exactly what I have been looking for, much thanks for doing this. I play with a modified logitech G13, and use the analogue stick for movement with the controller UI. Since I'm sitting here playing with essentially a keyboard and a mouse I obviously want to use the default UI. I just like the analogue movement. Your mod allows me to do this in a much more workable way for which I'm grateful.

However, I find that it doesn't work properly with crafting stations, having the mod enabled causes these to bug out and only allows a single interaction (i.e. deconstruct one thing, research one thing) before having to reload ui to interact again. When I get to town I ritually turn off this mod, do my business, and turn it back on when I leave to go out into the world. If this were fixed the mod would be that much better. As it is I love it.

Thanks!

Thank you! I'm really not fond of the controller menus, and I was disappointed you couldn't keep the standard ui and use the controller anyway. With this, I can. And it works fairly well for me, although:

while crafting, if I create, refine, deconstruct, or improve anything at all, the crafting menus... freeze, so to speak (everything is greyed out). The game keeps working fine, but I cannot do anything at the crafting station anymore before I /reloadui. If I disable the gamepad mode from the settings crafting works fine. It's a minor thing, but a bit inconvenient.

Also, I second firereverie's request for the lockpicking thing, and also add one for the dialogue screen while talking with NPCs and reading books with more pages. I can't choose dialogue options with controller, I can only press A/X to choose the first one and B/O to back out, which... is fine a lot of the time, but other times there are more options and I have to reach for my keyboard or mouse to select them. For reading books, the shoulder buttons keep their defend/attack functions instead of turning the pages.

It's, again, a minor complaint, but being able to do all that with controller would make questing a bit smoother.

If the action bar icons are showing up as numbers rather than the icons for the controller, you could do one of two things:

1. Find a part of the coding that will allow you to only reveal the action bar controller buttons

or

2. Check my "Controller Support" addon and manually replace the numbers with the icons. This route should be easier to implement, but longer to code (not to mention it's probably not as conventional).
This would be great. Please do it.

Been looking for something like this for ages

Thank you for putting this together, I was wondering though, is there any way to be able to retain the controller support in certain things like lock picking? Also the force feedback appears to be affected as well.
