A bit of history

The mod name was changed because apparently the mod called Ravalox' Quest Tracker had a file named LibQuestInfo.lua included with it as an embedded library.

LibQuestData

While updating Quest Map and trying to use some of the same data with other mods that show quest information I realized it was too much work to update more then one mod. For that reason I created LibQuestData.

It contains all of the currently available (by user submission) data from Quest Map and some information from Destinations. The data is incomplete and I would appreciate user submissions.

Current Features:
- Provide mod authors with X,Y locations for placing a pin on the Map (LIBGPS Data not collected at this time use local_x , local_y only! Needs more time for data to be collected.)
- Built in data collection for quest information not currently in data base

At the bottom of the page is a list of Zones that have had their quest data verified.

Important: This mod is brand new and I have not had time to update X, Y coordinates with user data for LibGPS. Use local_x, local_y.

Use the function UpdatePins anywhere you need deepening on player interaction with the world such as events for when the map changes, or the player changes location.

2:
Expand built in data collection to update information instead of only collecting new information. Meaning that if there are multiple pins for a quest, duplicate pins close to the player location would be removed in favor of the new location. The auto update would also compare information like quest name, quest giver, quest type, whether or not it is repeatable, and the Game API. Game's API version will mean the quest is still available in the current version.

3:
For avid data collectors and experts a slash command to remove ALL pins on the map prior to accepting a quest in order to clean up duplicate pins. Data would be submitted on GitHub.

thanks for the quick reply.

Use case is if you have quest information outside of world maps. like in your own window. or in journal like quest journal addon. getting map and x, y information via questid would enable to execute on mouse click:

open worldmap. jump to correct map and place a pin(g) .


about mapid. there is a libmapdata function that translates mapnames as you have in your locations table to mapid. GetMapIdByTileTexture(tileTexture). so either works as well.

about same name different questids. shouldnt be an issue. if all somebody wants is location info for a given questid. Said one wont care if there is another questid with same name.

and for building the index. questid and location data are both part of your location table at the same level. . just two nested pair loops over it would do the trick. or alternatively add map, loc info to your quest table instead of building separate one.

but as I said, no biggie. time is precious and often limited.. :-)

I can just pair loop over your locations table and build the
questid -> map, x, y table on the fly. 👍

Because there isn't a need to do that in a Zone. You just display the quest pins in the zone. If I were fixing something because I needed to remove a specific quest then I would loop over everything and remove it.

Nothing is indexed by quest ID for location purposes. There are things I have indexed by the quest ID but it has nothing to do with locations. It mimicked what Destinations did in the past and now it's used for displaying the type of pin.

There are a few quests that I want to clean out because I don't think anyone can do them anymore. There are PVP quests I need to work on at some point, but maybe not right now. There is some general housekeeping I would like to do but don't wish to do at this time.

Also I noticed your title had mapId in the name. I don't use map ID and it has never been recorded. I don't really regret using the mapId for Lorebooks but it does create issues displaying pins on a map for the zone if the pin has a map ID for the city. It is not ideal and not really needed for this library but I do have an idea for the mapId if needed.

What would be your use case for the questId showing the location etc.

Also when thinking through that there are quests that have different IDs but the same name. So indexing by the quest ID will have its issues.

mapid, x, y for questid

Howdie,

being able to get mapid, x, y coordinates for a given questId would be most useful.
But haven't been able to find such a api call for your library.

the main data which is indexed via questid doesnt have location info. that one is in the locations table.

I could just do it on the fly by iterating over the tables. But thought I'd ask first if you'd be interested in extending the API.

The quest names come from the API now. So at any time it's wrong I have nothing to do with the games internal strings.

You would have to report that to ZOS. If it is an unofficial translation then report that to the team in charge of that.

Status of PVP quests from Imperial City or Cyrodiil

I see why the PVP area has so many issues. I may find a way at some point, I may find a way months from now, in a year, maybe in a few weeks, I can't promise anything.

I am looking at a few things to see what I can do.

Hey, got a few bugs to report:
  • In Cyrodiil there are two very specific quests that are actually multiple quests mutually exclusive to each other: Namely "Chaos Magic" and "Nirnroot Wine". For each of those there are three different versions of the same quest and completing one locks you out of the other two. Currently the Library only has one version of each and they don't get set to unavailable after completing a different version of them.
  • "The Misfortunate Minstrels" in Malabal Tor isn't available from the start. The wiki mentions that starting "Restore the Silvenar" is a prerequisite here.

Sent all quests from pts to your github except for the ones you get after unlocking companions i got all main quests, sides quests, and companion unlock quests for PTS

I think it was Lorebooks. I put verification for Quest Map, Lorebooks, and LibQuestData for a certain version of LibMapData to prevent mods from loading if you had older version.

I figured out that the copy/paste doesn't work (I have an issue with minion not "updating" addons) today, which fixed one of my addons. Everything seems to work properly now. Thanks!
