LovelyEmotes  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 4.18
by: ShinyBones [More]
This addon provides quick and easy access to emotes. (For mouse/keyboard users)

Aren't you tired of remembering each emote and typing its name into the chat? With this addon you can search a list of all available emotes and save up to 120 of your favorite emotes spread over 8 tabs. You can play emotes using a list, key bindings, or a radial/wheel menu.

I will improve the addon from time to time and add more features. If you have any problems, ideas or other feedback, feel free to let me know.
Thanks to all the people who helped me with comments to find bugs and improve this addon.

Depends on:
- LibAddonMenu https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info7-LibAddonMenu.html

Features:
- Future emotes, categories and personalities are automatically added to the list
- Emote categories
- Supports all languages supported by ESO (translation of emotes, categories and personalities by ZeniMax)
- Fast and comfortable access to personalities
- Highlights emotes that are overridden by a personality
- Increase or decrease the number of favorites
- Radial quick menu to play your favorite emotes more comfortable
- Display localized names or slash names in the emote list (both in alphabetical order)
- Search bar: Search the emote list for a string to find your desired emote faster
- Synchronize emotes with other players (optional)
- Custom buttons: Define your own buttons that execute chat commands
- Key bindings
- More in development...

Slash Commands:
- /letoggle (toggles the main window)
- /lesettings (opens the AddOn Settings menu)
- /lecustombuttons (opens the custom buttons window)
- /lerandom (plays a random emote)

Modify Emotes:
In addition to the settings in the game, emotes themselves can also be configured through EmoteDataMod.lua file. Open the following file with a text editor and add the desired entries to the table:
LovelyEmotes/Modifications/EmoteDataMod.lua

In the same folder there is also a short manual to help you understand how it works.
Always remember to backup this file outside the "AddOns" folder because it will reset with each update.

Settings can be changed in the game under "Settings -> Addons -> LovelyEmotes".
Modify your key bindings under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes".
See the pictures for a better overview of how this addon works.
For more information about new features, see the Change Log.

Version 2.0:
NOTE: Because of the changes it is unfortunately necessary to reassign your keys once.
- Added a "Radial Quick Menu" for mouse/keyboard users to make emoting more convenient. The radial menu will display all available favorites from the main window. This radial menu works like any standard radial menu in the game, but you have to assign a key first.

- Added a slash command "/letoggle" to toggle the main window. The idea is that you can switch the invisible main window without having to bind a second key when using the addon as a simple quick menu.

- Removed obsolete code.
- Some code changes to avoid possible conflicts with other addons.

- Fixed: The main window should no longer appear in menus.
- Fixed: Duplicates are no longer invisible.

Version 1.8:
- Added an option to automatically minimize the main window when the cursor is hidden (disabled by default).
- Added an option to toggle the cursor by pressing the key binding "Toggle Main Window" (disabled by default).
- Removed the "Use cursor key" option.

Version 1.7:
- Added setting to set the visibility of the minimized main window. Set the value less than 10 to hide the window instead of minimizing it.
- Support for character name changes.

Version 1.6.1:
- Fixed combat event bug.
- Refactoring

Version 1.6:
- Key bindings for favorites: You can assign a key for each selected favorite (up to 15 favorites can be selected). Even hidden favorites can still be played by pressing the set key.

Version 1.5.1:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (again and now forever).

Version 1.5:
- Highlight selected favorites: Whenever the emote list opened, the selected favorite button is highlighted to give you a better overview of which favorite to be replaced.
- I have decided to remove the keybind for toggling the main window. Instead, I added an additional setting in the "Addons" menu to toggle the main window using the ESO's own "Toggle In-Game Cursor" keybind. The main window expands and the mouse becomes visible at the same time. This is probably the more convenient solution. (Disabled by default)

Version 1.4:
- Added a keybind to toggle the main window (can be found under "Controls -> General -> LovelyEmotes").
- Fixed: Some button textures and sounds.

Version 1.3:
- I added a category box at the top of the emote list to make it easier to find the desired emotes. The categories are updated automatically. Translation by ZeniMax.
- Refactoring

Version 1.2:
- Added an option to start minimized (disabled by default).

Version 1.1:
- Minimizes in combat and shows up again when you leave the fight (enabled by default). Has no effect if the window is minimized by the player.
This is optional and can be disabled in the menu "AddOn Settings".

Figured it had to be something simple that, for goodness only knows what reason, I missed

Many thanks! I finally have access to all those emotes added over the years without having to type out something bizarre like /memorialtoast etc.

Setting Emotes to the Number Pad Keys

A question for the author and/or the community. I did read the manual.

I'm coming from ESO Theater where you could easily assign 10 emotes to the numpad keys. But it's not been updated in years and it does not include the slew of subsequent emotes added since.

When I opened the Lovely Emotes window I could assign emotes in each of the four, five slot entries. I then went into Controls and assigned ten Lovely Emote slots to keys on the number pad.

However, although num keys 1-5 played the emotes I'd assigned in the first of the four five slot entries in Lovely Emotes, it said I'd not assigned anything in keys 6-0.

Clearly I'm missing something bloody well obvious here and could use a pointer...or two

Many thanks!

Hello Penrutet,

thank you for reporting about this problem. I will take a look at it and hope I can help.
And thanks for the nice comment. It's always nice to see when someone enjoys LovelyEmotes.

Edit: (I think) I have found a solution and have updated the workaround. It should now work with old and new versions of the addon. If problems occur, please let me know.
Wow, that was fast! It's working now, thank you so much.

Hello syvmar,
sorry I forgot to explain this in the description.

The radial menu displays the selected favorite emotes of the currently selected tab.

If you still have questions, feel free to ask.

Hello Ahobala,

thank you for your suggestion. I'm glad that you have fun with my addon.

Scaling the radial menu is not that simple. Instead of scaling there will be a smaller variant of the radial quick menu. This will be nearly the size of the regular quick menu for mouse/keyboard players and can be enabled and disabled in the LovelyEmotes settings menu.

If you have any further suggestions or wishes, please let me know.

First off, awesome addon! Really like the newer features, like the radial menu.
Speaking of which, could we get an option to scale it? It seems rather big right now.

Thanks!

LovelyEmotes automatically searches all emotes that ZeniMax provides. These entries also contain emotes that can be assigned to personalities (but not all of them). This is the reason why you can find emotes from the scholar personality in the emote list. LovelyEmotes also does not execute chat commands, but plays the emotes directly. This is the reason why you can also play the emotes of the scholar personality, although you might not own them. I don't know why these emotes are not locked like other emotes you have to buy first.

The "/crouch" emote is existing twice. LovelyEmotes had to ignore the second "/crouch" a while ago when I discovered it because it didn't work. Thank you very much for your attention. It seems that you can play the emote now. I will upload an update that will include the emote in the list.

I would not know of any way to pull emotes from personalities. I don't think it would be in the interest of ZeniMax either.
Hey! Haha I see what you mean. But I actually own the Scholar personality so that's probably why I can play it. It would just be nice if I could use the Swashbuckler personality variant of /search which is looking into a spyglass or Telvanni Magister /read or /juggleflame variants when you own the personalities... without switching. It's just a hassle to switch personality, play emote, switch off personality >.> I guess one can only dream...

Also there is /tilt which normally does a headtilt emote, but the Scholar personality has a variant where the character writes something into a book while tilting their heads. In the addon's emote list both are present as /tilt with no distinction.
Does this mean that theoretically you could pull emotes that are personality dependent even if your current personality isn't the one they depend on?

This is the reason why you can also play the emotes of the scholar personality, although you might not own them. I don't know why these emotes are not locked like other emotes you have to buy first.

The "/crouch" emote is existing twice. LovelyEmotes had to ignore the second "/crouch" a while ago when I discovered it because it didn't work. Thank you very much for your attention. It seems that you can play the emote now. I will upload an update that will include the emote in the list.

I would not know of any way to pull emotes from personalities. I don't think it would be in the interest of ZeniMax either.

Emote variants?

I just noticed that if I use /crouch by typing it into the chat, it does the Treasure Hunter personality version of the emote (even when it's not the set personality). However, the one in the list of this addon does a regular crouch without the torch while the personality is not active, and the personality variant when it's active. How is this possible?

Also there is /tilt which normally does a headtilt emote, but the Scholar personality has a variant where the character writes something into a book while tilting their heads. In the addon's emote list both are present as /tilt with no distinction.
Does this mean that theoretically you could pull emotes that are personality dependent even if your current personality isn't the one they depend on?
