Aenathel's Lazy Riding Skill Trainer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 1.4.0
by: Aenathel [More]
Tired of wasting precious seconds of your life pondering which riding skill to train?

Introducing Aenathel's Lazy Riding Skill Trainer! Rated the #1 time saver [1] by the Tamrielic Stablemaster's Association (TSA), this add-on will save you hours [2] over the course of your ESO career [3]!

Dependencies
The following dependencies are needed for the add-on to work:
  • LibAddonMenu-2.0
  • LibChatMessage

Why?
Because I can. And because it's one less thing to think about when playing ESO.

How?
The add-on performs riding skill training for you when you talk to a stablemaster, but you must (unfortunately) still make the trek to the nearest stables yourself.

You can choose between the following skill priorities:
  • Carry Capacity, Speed, Stamina
  • Carry Capacity, Stamina, Speed
  • Speed, Carry Capacity, Stamina
  • Speed, Stamina, Carry Capacity
  • Stamina, Carry Capacity, Speed
  • Stamina, Speed, Carry Capacity

You can also choose to log out automatically after training to save time on characters that you aren't actively playing to save even more time! [3]

[1] Aenathel's Lazy Riding Skill Trainer is not officially endorsed by the Tamrielic Stablemaster's Association, nor does Tamrielic Stablemaster's Association actually exist.
[2] Based on 5 seconds saved per 180 stablemaster interactions across 18 characters totaling 4.5 hours saved. [4]
[3] Total time saved per logout interaction varies depending on player typing speed and/or mouse dexterity.
[4] Assumes no prior investments in riding skill on any characters. (Terms [5] and limitations [6] apply.)
[5] You still need to pay 250 gold per upgrade totaling 45,000 gold for all upgrades.
[6] You must still go and talk to the stablemaster yourself.

Hi, must say I am all for simplifying NPC interface interactions and this addon works great.

Please would you think of adding an account wide option. Then it could save even more time

Its not just about the initial setting per character but if you want to switch the skill order then you would need to do it on each char again.

Thanks

Thanks! I think this add-on is very lazy, and I spent more time making it than it will ever save me time-wise, but it was fun.

I considered it, but I personally have different priorities for different chars, so it wasn't very useful for me. But you're now the second person to ask for this, so I guess I'll look into it.

For me there is a bug and have disabled this addon for now.

I am doing training on 3 chars then also 10 chars on my second account.

All chars have the setting; Speed, Stamina, Capacity

Note: Some chars have Speed and Capacity now completed.

I just want to Login, train, Logout.

The bug I see is after the training is done then the "Esc" key no longer pulls up the main menu with the Log Out selection. In fact if I try to open the interface to the trainer the "E" option is displayed in gray and nothing happens when I press E.

After 1 minute or so I get functionality back and can logout. This is the second day I have had this. I waited to see if it was just an anomaly before reporting.

Hi there! I am unable to reproduce this, but I don't have any characters with similar riding skills, either.

Could you send me the result of running the following script? That would be very helpful!

Lua Code:
  1. d(AenathelsLazyRidingSkillTrainer.GetIndexedStats())

I've had a thorough look at the code, I don't see anything that could cause the behavior you're describing.

Have you tried logging in with only this add-on and it's dependencies (LibAddonMenu-2.0 and LibChatMessage) enabled? If the issue persists with only these add-ons loaded, then the next step would be getting you a debug build if you're willing to try that.

I can do this but where in the code do you want it placed? file, line number (s)

Also, I looked at the behaviour a little more when this happens and it may be tied to not leaving the trainer interface correctly. Spamming the "E" key at the interface seems to clear the problem then I can log out.

When I get the problem again I will post an image of the interface. it may help.

Just execute it using the /script slash command from the chat box, like this:

Code:
/script d(AenathelsLazyRidingSkillTrainer.GetIndexedStats())

That's weird. There isn't any "proper" way to leave an interface, which is really just showing the base scene. But a picture would help, sure.

When I got the problem I ran the script,

Also here is the image of the trainer interface with the E in gray,

If I press E at this point his interface is opened and immediately closed.

After this the Esc key works again and I am able to log out.

There is nothing in this add-on that would immediately close the window unless it has just trained. I suspect you have another add-on that also hooks into the stablemaster window, which might be the cause.

This is very hard for me to reproduce, though, even if I could get a list of the add-ons you use.

You could well be right about another addon interfering.

There is another addon which record stats including riding training as well as showing a countdown timer .

Leo's Altoholic

It may be there is some conflict there but for me, I will return to manual interactions at this interface.

I'll install it and see if I run into the same problem.

This is an extremely useful addon. Been using it for around a month so far to train up all my alts and I love the ability to set different skill priorities per character and the auto log-off feature. Thank you for making & sharing this!

Allow increments?

I love the addon because it simplifies training riding.

One feature I would love is to be able to set an amount to reach in each before going the rest of the way.

I like to get 10 speed and 10 stamina early so riding can work somewhat OK for a while. 0 stamina is really bad.

I could live with it hitting 10 in each and then going in the recommended order. Or even go every 10 in each in order.

Just an idea.

Perhaps you could simply add a "copy setting to all characters" button. Only programatic issue could be if they just installed the mod and there are no settings for their other characters.

BTW, I just installed the mod, it works great, but for some odd reason I have now have to speak to the trainer twice before I get a notification that it's being trained.

I'm not sure, perhaps it's an issue with either Harven's Research Timers, or with Personal Assistant?

Nice to see you've added an enable/disable setting to your addon! The other horse trainer addon from Dubolgan you have to turn the addon completely off with a reloadui in order to buy a horse if you want one.
