Master Merchant  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.5.2
by: Philgo68, Sharlikran
Updating to MM 3.x

Uninstall MM 2.x first! If you do not Minion will uninstall the MM 3.x files!

Master Merchant 3.0 does not use different data or file. It is a direct continuation of the project. Therefore, if you install 3.x first then uninstall 2.x, Minion will uninstall all the files belonging to 3.x. Master Merchant 3.0 uses the same file names.

Important MM 2.x at end of life

Backup your Master Merchant data before you update.

In October of 2020 Master Merchant was split into two projects for various reasons, mostly developmental reasons. They are the same project, the same data format, and no conversion is required. Backup your MM data files, but please do not delete them.

There were two goals that I had in the beginning. Update the Kiosk flip times and improve how sales are obtained due to ZOS restrictions a while back. (in possibly 2019)

3.x provides a similar way of obtaining guild sales and works as reliably as ATT. Many people using both reported the sales totals were always in agreement. However, Sirinsidiator has released a new library LibHistoire and it is important that library is used for obtaining guild history. The main reason being that it will significantly reduce the load of requests for sales data on the server. This new library is used in Master Merchant version 3.2.6.

Up until MM 3.1.0 users would use a feature I called the Event Index. It provided a count of the total of events loaded in guild history and the amount of time those events covered. Slow guilds may have only a few hundred to a thousand sales in one day while busy guilds will have several thousand sales in one day. It made it easy to know how much data you had requested from the server to keep your sales up to date for the time you were offline. All new sales while you were online were automatically recorded.

This has been replaced with new functions to directly receive all data from LibHistoire. LibHistoire is fully automated and has a GUI interface to show users what is needed to be caught up. If you are in a slow guild then most likely you can just wait for the sales to update on their own. If you are in a busy guild due to server restrictions that have been in place for over a year now, it is still recommended to manually request the data so you don't have to wait for it. Depending on how cooperative the server is and how long you are online LibHistoire may receive all the sales data automatically. Please do not expect the server to cooperate though.

If you do not wait for the server to corporate and provide you the sales data you are waiting for, LibHistoire has you covered as it will tell you that your guild history cache has not linked to previously stored events.

Please uninstall MM 2.x and upgrade to 3.x as 2.x will not be updated further. You are welcome to use 2.50 if you like but you will continue to see a one line reminder to update and with current improvements to 3.x there is no reason not to do so.

Just remember to backup your MM data files before you update to 3.x.

Warning: Spoiler
ChangeLog for 2.5.2

- Last version before moving to discontinued category. Uninstall and update to Master Merchant 3.0
- Functionality removed

ChangeLog for 2.5.1

- API Bump for Markarth

ChangeLog for 2.5.0

- Reverted MM to the sate of Philgo's last update 2.3.1
- Fix for MasterMerchant_Util.lua:466 to fix bug introduced in 2.3.1
- Reverted all scanning mechanics to 2.3.1
- Reverted indexing and filtering mechanics to 2.2.1
- By reverting indexing and filtering mechanics this fixes the issues with personal sales not appearing in the master merchant window
- Updated Kiosk flip times for Tuesday. Which includes the removal of tracking the 9 day week prior to the kiosk flip.

ChangeLog for 2.4.9

- Updated /mm help
- Typecast certain variables for comparisons. Which hopefully will not allow anymore duplicate sales entries.
- Changed verbose level for Event Monitor (Now verbose 5) Default verbose is 4
- Hopefully fixed bug with MasterMerchant.lua line:2218

ChangeLog for 2.4.8

- Simple indexing and scanning removed (introduced in 2.3.1)
- Background scan removed (See NOTE1)
- /mm missing removed (See NOTE2)
- Added guild history monitoring
- Improved duplicate checking when using /mm dups

NOTE1: During testing the requests from the server were denied 1440 times and granted 30 times over a course of 40 minutes for 3 different guilds.

NOTE2: Guild history is not sorted. Therefore you can not start at a certain place by tracking a specific time or event and scan from that point. The only viable option is to track the number of events and then avoid scanning the same events.

ChangeLog for 2.4.7

- Left a debug message active sorry

ChangeLog for 2.4.6

- Left a debug message active sorry

ChangeLog for 2.4.5

- Revised Kiosk cut off time routines

ChangeLog for 2.4.4

- Removed Philgo's Simple Indexing and Simple Scanning.

Note: At this time there are still performance issues. I will be addressing them as time permits. Removing Simple Indexing and Simple Scanning will introduce old performance issues. There isn't anything I can do about that at this time. I went with functionality over performance for now.

ChangeLog for 2.4.3

- Fixed some typos

ChangeLog for 2.4.2

- Revised Kiosk cut off time routines

NOTE: Needs testing for EU

ChangeLog for 2.4.1

- Oops missed a few debug message thresholds

ChangeLog for 2.4.0

- Time between scans 5 minutes minimum now because data is provided by the server without requesting it.
- Time between requests for data 30 seconds because the server already gives you data about once a minute.

NOTE: After more testing with my new cache library there is no reason to send frequent requests to the server for more data because the request is denied. Data is already provided about every minute. My cache library shows that with that kind of interval, 2 to 3 minutes you would be caught up as far as sales for your guild. After that you would just receive data you already have plus any new sales. This includes being logged out for 5 hours.

ChangeLog for 2.3.9

- Removed some of the additional delays.

ChangeLog for 2.3.8

- Added debug framework for odd reported errors

ChangeLog for 2.3.7

- First adjustment for 9 day week, then regular 7 day weeks.
- More updates as information is confirmed.

ChangeLog for 2.3.6

- Adjusted position of UI element 'Hide Offline' when viewing guild sales from guild roster

ChangeLog for 2.3.5

- Adjusted routine to account for when the guild store is offline and we are waiting for Zenimax to resolve the issue

ChangeLog for 2.3.4

- Use Zenimax API function GetGuildKioskCycleTimes() instead of previous method

ChangeLog for 2.3.3

- Removed left over debug routines for mouse over controls when verbose was set to 5

ChangeLog for 2.3.2

- Fix for MasterMerchant_Util.lua:466
- More refactoring for how Libraries load

ChangeLog for 2.3.1

Switched Guild cut-over time.
Added new recipes for Craft Cost calculations.
Added 'Simple Guild History Scanning' setting which makes guild scanning much simpler, but may leave gaps in your historical data.

Updating to MM 3.x

Uninstall MM 2.x first! If you do not Minion will uninstall the MM 3.x files!

Master Merchant 3.0 does not use different data or files. It is a direct continuation of the project. Therefore, if you install 3.x first then uninstall 2.x, Minion will uninstall all the files belonging to 3.x. Master Merchant 3.0 uses the same file names.

Master Merchant 2.50 or 2.x is at end of life

So it doesn't seem to be a compatibility issue with ATT.

That's good feedback. I'll look into that. If it's just because of zoning then that's odd but that's the servers decision to just stop sending guild history. I appreciate the feedback.

I would like to ask just disable your trade mods except MM, TTC, and AGS and see if the guild history causes the update. Because in all reality, unless you can find a mod that causes a conflict then I can't do anything because I can't reproduce it. The guild history is updating for me just fine. The instant the sale hits the guild history window and I see the notification, I can have the master merchant window open and I see the sale. Whether or not it's for the guild or personal sales.
Only other trade mod I have is ATT. I disabled it and MM ran fine for awhile until I zoned, then MM stopped working for some reason. I restarted ATT and MM seemed to work fine again and then I zoned into a delve and MM stopped working again.

So it doesn't seem to be a compatibility issue with ATT.

As long as sales show up in the guild history that do not have a time date stamp of 1657 months ago or 71582789 minutes ago, then MM will add those automatically to the database. It is set to ignore timestamps like that because that timestamp is false. If you watch guild history long enough the sale with that time stamp will eventually change to X minutes.

Although if you put it on verbose 6 that will also include the notification that there was an erroneous time stamp. However, once those are gone and the next time the server updates the sale, then they will be added to the database.

Granted I have only AGS, TTC, and MM installed. If you have other mods causing a conflict I'd need to know what mod it is.
Yeah I get that about MM and time stamps. My concern is that now MM is not updating ANY sales that occur while I am playing, unlike ATT and TTC. The 25 minutes what just the length of time I was playing and those sales were showing in ATT fine but not MM.

Not sure about any conflicts I might have. All my other addons have been working good, no error messages and 2.4.7 worked fine with the current versions of them all.

2.4.9 not updating after initial data pull\logon

Updated to 2.4.8 yesterday and reverted to 2.4.7 after dups problem and chat spam messages.

2.4.7 has worked fine for me as long as I update each of my guilds on login. With 2.4.7 MM always is a little slower by 4-5 minutes than ATT or my TTC notifications (which always occur simulataneously when the data hits the server). I can live with that delay because the info always gets there for MM while I'm playing.

So after making a fresh backup of my Saved variables, I decided to tryout 2.4.9 to see if it would work for me. I followed the instructions and did /mm dups (skipped /mm clean so as to not lose data). Loaded the ten days data which took quite awhile as I am in two big trading guilds.

Data loaded fine and I could see everything fine with no dups after I did /reloadui.

The problem I am having is while I am playing I am getting NO updates on current sales while in game from MM unless I relog or do a /reloadui. Verbosity is set to 5 and I see no chat messages or spam at all. TTC and ATT still update immediately. I'm sitting here looking at 5 sales in ATT over the last 25 minutes and those sales aren't in MM. I could force a load with /reloadui ui or relogging but I shouldn't have to do that.

If this is something that can be easily fixed on my part let me know. Otherwise I might go back to 2.4.7 for more consistency.

I am going to ask one simple question. To get the proper answer I will explain it this way. 2.2.1 downloaded a file with the file name 2.2.0. Philgo uploaded 2.3.1 and it had two issues with it. One 2.3.1 had a bug that prevented it from working. That is what prompted the release of 2.3.2. Then it was shared the personal sales were not showing up at all in the master merchant window. That is fixed and the overall functionality of the program did not change past 2.4.7. So the question is.

Revert things to 2.2.1 or 2.4.7? All I want is the version number.

I am sorry you feel you lost 5 years of data. I don't see how I can argue that when the programs settings only allow you to keep 365 days of sales not 5 years.

If you scanned 10 days of sales you should see something. Did you check the website I linked?

It has basic instructions and what you should be expecting including setting verbose to 5 temporarily while you request guild history to see what is happening.
Yes, I see the last 16 sales. From the previous 10 days. Other sales that took place before disappeared.
All sales of my trade guild have also disappeared. Only my sales for the last 10 days are shown. I did everything according to the instructions. I lost 5 years of records.

(Note: I'm not sure why quoting isn't working right here, so apologies for that...)

Not true either, have real time comparison with Arkadius and its now way faster and pretty much the same now as ATT.

I do have to agree I had some hiccups with the data and there might have been a better way to get there.
ATT uses the same method as MM, but at least in previous versions, it intentionally didn't get past history. It would just pull in whatever you had grabbed manually plus new data. Has this changed? Does it now automatically get old data while you were logged out?

I am guessing that it hasn't changed. The speeds you are comparing are not correct comparisons.

The way MM worked is that it would do two things upon login:
1) It would note the time of last update, and request old data until it caught up.
2) It would receive and hold new data from the server, but not update its database until (1) finished.
3) Once 1 and 2 finished, it would wait for new data and update as it arrived.

ATT basically doesn't do (1). MM was modified to match ATT and not do (1) because Sharlikran incorrectly thinks that it's broken. So sure, it's faster because it isn't doing the work, not because the act of doing the work was improved.

Just saying. Both addons can only "run" as fast as ZOS allows it.

It may interleave new and old, but that is trivial to track, and is always self consistent: 201, 202, 199, 198, 203, 197, 204, 205, 196, 195 << THAT IS NOT RANDOM. That is simply a progression in two directions from a marker point (time 200), which is trivial to track. And, I cannot stress this enough, MM CURRENTLY TRACKS THIS CORRECTLY. YOU ARE BREAKING MM.
That is not what I said, specifically about the numbers you listed in the order you listed them. I never said it was random I said that the data is appended to an array and is unsorted. It is only sorted when you view it from the guild history tab.
It's not unsorted. It's interleaved. There's a massive difference.

You are using this as the sole reason for why you deliberately broke the "timestamp marker" functionality that *worked*. Please undo that change.

I don't expect users to know how much information they need however, they do know how long they have been offline.
Requiring users to track how long they are offline to use the add on correctly is absurd. MM used to do this JUST FINE. Restore the functionality to the way that it was, and there won't be a problem.

If it has been less then a day then after they scan that data from the guild history tab they will start to see no new sales data and at that point will know they are caught up for the day. At that point all the new sales will show up instantly as they come in from the server.
To be honest, this is the primary difference between this and your direct competitor. If you insist on breaking this, then MM no longer has a reason to exist as an add on.

So for now spare me the incredulity. I have no equanimity for the accusations. If you like 2.2.1 then use it that's your choice.
Sorry, you don't get off that easy. Since taking over this add on, you have lashed out at or ignored valid criticism, ignored user requests, ignored bug reports (and then by your own admission complained about multiple reports of the ignored bugs), broke working features, reverted good changes, and generally been extremely negative (that last point, btw, is what sparked me to finally start replying to you), all while implying that people should dump praise on you for taking over. You deliberately broke the most important add on to the trading community in the entire game. You could have said no to taking on this task. Either man up and be responsible, or step aside and stop making things worse.

This isn't just about me. You are breaking the foundational trading tool for the game, which affects everyone.
