I have been getting errors with the latest 1.09 update. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention to what version I was moving from. But a new, empty Librarian.lua works fine. I always write the addon updates to that it should seamlessly update your library without any loss of data, so there shouldn't be anything you need to worry about when a new version is released. That said, I know how upset I'd be if I lost my Libra...
