Sorry, this is exactly what I do. I will now try to remove any other Addon, but I do not get any error. The custom buff is displayed, just the progressbar is missing. Test progress bar with Widgets or Passives.

I get notified for attacks like Heat Wave, but not for many others (such as Volley). You receive notifications only about attacks that can one-shot your character or setted under control. Not from overland mobs off course, they used the same ability but much weaker. Just play and train to avoid EACH attack. It will helps in future.
