Patch 1.1.2 All Addons Outdated - Disable until authors update or run as outdated?
 

With Patch 1.1.2 In-game all addons are now outdated according to the GUI.

Should I hold off enabling them all and stop playing until authors update?

Or is it safe enough to run them outdated while authors update?

I read the API release notes post and it looked like there were major updates for addons?

I checked the allow outdated addons for now because I couldn't wait.
I got so used to all my addons it was very painful to play without them. Besides, pretty much all of em worked for me.

Probably most of them will work fine with the patch. Try using the "enable outdated" check box and see how it goes. :)

Authors are delaying addons update because EU servers are still not updated.

The API updates won't affect all addons.

It is usually fine to tick the outdated box and if you do get errors report them to the addon page to give them the heads up.

If you get loading problems then the 'narrow down which addons are possible causes' routine will help identify addons that may have been more affected than others.

As an addon writer I am sure that most of the writers have already checked out what API changes there are and identified if it will affect them.

Whether they will change the TOC before or after both servers have been patched I don't know.

Okay thanks all. I'll go outdated for now and report as requested to authors.

For example i didn't update my addons version not yet, cause i test them out before i bump the version number. To make sure they work. And because i am on the EU server, it will be a bit later for the US. So as others said, tick the outdated. If no issues leave it on till everything is updated. Addons that don't get updated are most likely not maintained anymore.

One thing though, give authors a few days before bugging them for an update.

As an example, I'm away from home until Tuesday evening, so cannot do anything about it until then. :(

Looking through the API changes there's mostly additions and very few removals, so most (if not all) addons should be working without an update.
