chat BG

is there an easy way to disable the chat BG completely? i can get it to fade but it pops back on mouseover.

In the meantime you can just paste this in chat to remove it:

/script RedirectTexture("/esoui/art/chatwindow/chat_bg_edge.dds", 0)
RedirectTexture("/esoui/art/chatwindow/chat_bg_center.dds", 0)

This will remove the background to the minimized chat:

/script RedirectTexture("/esoui/art/chatwindow/chat_minimized_mungebg.dds", 0)
RedirectTexture("/esoui/art/chatwindow/chat_minimized_mungebg_highlight.dds", 0)

I think RedirectTexture should not be used, few addons got crashes with it.

Interesting. My whole UI reskin addon I am making is RedirectTexture lines. I have over 1000 so far. I have been working on it for weeks and I have never had a crash. Does the whole game crash for people? What exactly happens?
